Editing completed surveys and importing | XM Community

I want to be able to import edited response data back into an ongoing site sat survey. My understanding is that importing does not overwrite existing data but instead creates duplicate records which is a problem. Another solution suggested by support was to import all editing data into a new survey but in doing so all date fields would be changed to the import date which is not an option.

The field being updated is an embedded data field created to derive 'device family' E.g. (phone, tablet, desktop, etc.)

Anyone come up with a solution to this?

@Greg_P We have had the same issue in several occasions.

In one the survey was distributed via mailing list. so we have reuploaded the contact list with an extra embedded data field (keeping the contact IDs).

In another survey we did as suggested by the support team (added to a new survey) and just added the original submission date as the embedded data field.

In the third option when setting up the constantly going survey we didn't add the embedded data field (it was static in our case-name of the product-but as we were combining several product surveys in one dashboard it was essential to have it), we have set up the Embedded data to the survey flow to be populated automatically for the new responses, and had to manually update the old responses where this field was empty. it took some time, but the survey keeps running in one place.
Hi Greg is there a reason the edits can't happen directly in Qualtrics? They have some nice editing features including bucketing to make things go faster: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/data/response-editing/

(also see additional pages in the navigation for bucketing, formulas, and editing custom fields)
Thank you very much for your tips @MsIreen and @bstrahin. Addressing this is complicated by the fact that I have a couple of hundred edits to make, the edits involve multi field logic which is easier to do in Excel and the fact that I have an API set-up to pull these survey results directly into the corp data warehouse using the 'Start_date' field. Setting up a new date field will require dev resources which tend to be scarce. If I come up with any tricks I will let you know.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
@Greg_P The last time I checked the API you are able to update embedded data via the API update response (https://api.qualtrics.com/reference#update-response).
