Best practices for multiple, iterated waves of an internal (enterprise-wide) telework survey?

Hello everyone! We had a robust response to our first internal survey regarding staff response to, and needs around, the move to full teleworking. Our leadership has asked us to field a second wave next month, with some questions added and removed.
My sense is to use the same survey questionnaire to allow for easier comparison of data for questions that are consistent across the two waves, rather than creating a second questionnaire. Have others taken a similar approach? Particularly if using the "Report" function, I could see filtering based on survey completion date as being useful.

AdamK12 We'll be working on doing something similar. Sending a "second wave" sometime next week.
We plan on doing some tweaking to the survey we used last time, though. Downsizing a few questions that we found to be too similar to each other (example... some of the immediate supervisor-related questions) and adding follow-up questions to ones that we think we could dig deeper into and we had significant traction on (such as people saying they want more info on "how to manage their work environment").
Another thing we will be doing this time around is sending to a different sample of staff. We want to avoid sending to the same sample since survey will be so similar.

VickyB Thanks very much -- we're sending to the same set of staff, both because we are only at one location and also because there's interest in tracking how staff are responding to the full telework environment now compared to earlier in the spring. I'd love to compare notes once we're into the second phase of research for both of us. Best, Adam

To add to what VickyB shared....if you do a different survey (which may be needed because you already sent to everyone and you don't want to overwrite questions) here are some things to consider:
1) You can pull in previous responses via embedded data (that will allow you to do calculations on changes)
2) You can put both surveys into the same dashboard (and report I think). This way you can show trending over time. In the dashboard settings you'll need to match the questions up if they don't automatically.

Also to drive home what Vicky mentioned we send to a sample each week. (we assign a random number to each employee (0-9) we then use that field to send it to the set of users each week (e.g. groups 0-3) so we don't duplicate.

Thanks very much, VickyB and MattBroffman_Orlando --We sent our second wave this week to NLM staff (including Federal employees and contractors) via anonymous link, so did not embed data. However, I've set up analytics in StatsIQ to identify statistically significant differences in responses between the two waves.

Quick update here: we've run another iteration of the survey which generated some nice insights for us and our leadership. The general sense is that our staff have settled in well but (as one could imagine) have many questions about when and how we will be returning to the office. With the Delta variant much of this remains in flux. Right now we're planning to run the survey again, but after the annual Federal Employee Values Survey (FEVS) is finished.
