Hi everyone! 😊

We’re launching action plans based on our engagement survey, and I’d love to gather some tips and best practices to make these plans as useful as possible. Last time we implemented action plans with this survey, they weren’t very productive, and many users didn’t see any value in them.

I want to ensure that we clearly demonstrate how they can use these plans to gain real value. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Here are some tips and best practices to help make your action plans more productive and valuable for your users:

  1. Start with Clear Objectives: Define clear and specific objectives for your action plans. Ensure that each action plan has a measurable goal that aligns with your overall engagement strategy.

  2. Involve Stakeholders: Engage key stakeholders in the creation and implementation of action plans. This includes managers, team leaders, and employees who will be directly affected by the plans. Their input and buy-in are crucial for success.

  3. Communicate the Value: Clearly communicate the benefits and value of the action plans to all users. Explain how these plans will address specific issues identified in the engagement survey and how they will lead to tangible improvements.

  4. Assign Responsibilities: Assign clear responsibilities for each action item within the plan. Ensure that everyone knows who is accountable for each task and what their role is in achieving the plan's objectives.

  5. Set Realistic Timelines: Establish realistic timelines for completing each action item. Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps with specific deadlines to keep the plan on track.

  6. Monitor Progress: Regularly monitor and track the progress of your action plans. Use dashboards and reports to keep everyone informed about the status of each action item and to identify any potential roadblocks.

  7. Provide Support and Resources: Ensure that users have the necessary resources and support to implement the action plans. This may include training, tools, or additional personnel.

  8. Celebrate Successes: Recognize and celebrate the successes achieved through the action plans. Highlighting positive outcomes can motivate users and reinforce the value of the plans.

  9. Gather Feedback: Continuously gather feedback from users about the action plans. Use this feedback to make adjustments and improvements to future plans.

  10. Follow Up: After the action plans have been implemented, follow up to assess their impact. Determine whether the objectives were met and identify any areas for further improvement.


@Erikahuer All theory aside, you did mentioned a big practical problem when executing close the outter-loop here.

All the planning, deadline and stuff can be easily tracked even without Qualtrics. The question is do the money and resources that put into that innovate idea worth it. So you can decide to expand the work or find other idea.

  1. You should really plan a head how you gonna measure the effect, A/B testing, control group… Make a Dashboard for the innovation idea only.
  2. Do a test run with the action, the users will see that we only commit if it’s effective.
  3. Link the result with CSAT, NPS and especially to the Revenue, KPI of the users who’s working on it with you because ‘People only care what affect their paycheck’

That’s my experiences, the 3rd one is the most important. Hope it can help you.
