Excel Report with Drag & Drop Option | XM Community

Greetings,

We’re using a survey for professors to indicate which classes they want students to evaluate.  We’re using the drag and drop option for the professors to group the classes into “evaluate” or “do not evaluate”.  When we export the results to excel it’s assigning a number (as shown below):

From what I read this is the ranking assigned to the classes when they are moved into the respective categories and it will by default pull this information in the reports:

We don’t need/want to know the ranking, just if the course is pulled into the “evaluate” or “do not evaluate”.  Is there a way to not pull the ranking?  It seems that there isn’t and we would need to clean this out of the report, which the director is not too happy about.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions?  Is there a better question type to accomplish this?  We have the basic license for context.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

The pick group ranking was good one what that I was thinking.  I think that you can put all the evaluate information together in report.  I have not done it for awhile so I would be really rusty on it

I see there has been some previous posts regarding this topic.  My suspicion is that using a different question type like a matrix might be a good workaround?

My go to for something like this would be a multiple choice - multi-select question provided that the class list isn’t too long. This will give you similar data output as above but just with a value of “1” if an individual selected the course or a blank if the individual did not select the course; the exception being if you modify the ‘Record seen bu unanswered multi-value fields as X’ option upon export.

If you wanted to force students to either select “Evaluate” or “Not Evaluate”, then you could use Matrix Likert question, but note that Matrix Likerts are not currently WCAG 2.0 AA compliant, so you’d likely want an alternative option for students with screen readers. The Matrix Likert will give you a column for each item and then, but default, a value of “1” or “2” depending on which of the two options a student selects.

Let me know if this helps!
