You will be responsible for the design and execution of Viasat’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy, providing strategic, and day-to-day operational leadership on all global DE&I programs and initiatives for the organization. Our Team
People & Culture (P&C) - is the people business of Viasat. The Talent team is an innovative change catalyst. Put simply: we attract, engage, and grow diverse leaders with a focus on raising the bar with every new hire to maximize the human potential of our employees. The role holder will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, employee resource groups (ERGs), ensuring DE&I initiatives are aligned with business strategies, and Viasat’s core values.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, steer, and measure the impact of a comprehensive DE&I strategy.
- Drive awareness, interest, and dedication to DE&I through compelling messaging and storytelling.
- Collaborate with Corporate Internal Communications & Employer Brand teams to improve internal messaging and external branding.
- Ensure DE&I is coordinated into all P&C strategies, practices, and processes at every stage of the employee lifecycle.
- Inspire and advise leaders on how to develop and drive DE&I within their businesses.
- Work with the P&C organization on initiatives to improve talent acquisition, talent development, engagement, and retention of our high-performing diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Collaborate with and provide regular direction to the leaders of employee resource groups to help enable our DE&I goals.
- Partner with the Social Impact team to develop DE&I related philanthropic and corporate purpose initiatives that further the company's mission to deliver capacity to those beyond the digital divide.
- Develop and foster relationships with industry thought leaders, consultants, and partners in order to stay abreast of trends and best practices.
- Accountable for all areas of workforce compliance including AAP, VETS-100, etc.
- Your deep expertise in DE&I programs and initiatives will enable you to make the right recommendations for Viasat’s DE&I needs and goals.
- Your experience translating vision into strategy and carrying out a clear and thoughtful plan will give you the credibility you need to optimally lead in this important area.
- Goal oriented - You know how to measure the success of various DE&I initiatives and will do so to help keep us moving forward.
- Your strong written and verbal communication skills and high emotional intelligence allows you to connect and quickly build credible relationships at all levels.
- Data-driven - You use data and analytics to develop insights and drive decision-making.
- Experience managing major projects, and leading execution of programs across large organizations with multiple constituents.
- Global approach - An understanding of DE&I globally; knowledge of global diversity issues and topics.
- Mature Influence - You understand that influence isn’t just art and science, sometimes it’s a journey. So, you take the time to analyze your audience, understand where they are, and what they will need to see things from a different angle.
The Person
Requirements
- 10+ years of Diversity & Inclusion experience, ideally with a global company
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related discipline
- 5+ years of proven experience managing and developing people
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or related discipline
- 5+ years of program management experience
- Experience working with engineers and/or scientists in fast growth technology companies.
- Located in Carlsbad, CA (or US west coast) but we’re open to discussion
