NEW: Use the Audience Management Panelist App to improve the panelist experience
We’ve been hard at work making sure researchers can access the feedback they need, when they need it. One piece of the puzzle is making it easier than ever to build, manage, and engage proprietary research panels. Last year we released Audience Management on DesignXM to do just that. A highly targeted cohort of people who are eager to answer your research questions? Yes please!
Now we’ve added a major update to this solution: a new Panelist App! It’s a customizable, user-friendly portal where panelists can quickly see all the research opportunities available to them–including key information about each study like how long it will take and what incentives are being offered.
The new Panelist App is available today to all DesignXM customers within the Audience Management solution. If you’re managing a panel within Qualtrics–or thinking about taking the leap–go and check it out! Have a question? Reach out to your XM Success rep or leave your question in the comments below.
We’d love to hear from you. Does your organization manage a proprietary research panel? What are your favorite ways to engage and incentivize your research respondents?

Hi,
I am testing the Qualtrics panelist app,
but I am bumping into some user-experience-problems.
Am I missing something, or is the sign-up process for Panels really like this?
I followed the steps at https://www.qualtrics.com/support/common-use-case/xm-solutions/audience-management-program/#PanelistApp, but they mainly explain the admin side, not the respondent side.
From a respondent's point of view: (from the red text on, I don't find it user-friendly anymore)
The respondent is given the "Panel Invitation survey." The respondent fills in their information to participate in the panel.
Via a workflow, the respondent is created as a contact in the XM directory and enters the panel. e.g. Bob Jones.
This screen show “do you already have a panelist account? Log In” or “No account yet? Create an Account”.
So right now, the respondent actually has to perform steps again before they can complete the survey. Moreover, this screen doesn't seem customizable to me, so this is in Qualtrics blue anyway. At "sign in" you actually just end up on the standard Qualtrics login screen with the "sign in with SSO" etc. buttons on it as well.
The respondent does not actually have an "account" at this time yet, but he might think he has because he had registered to the panel. If he clicks “Log in”:
He cannot proceed here, he does not have a password.
So if instead he then chooses "create account", they have to enter their email address again:
Then there is another email:
and then they have to enter again their first and last name on a Qualtrics branded page (while this was already given in the panel recruitment survey)
and only then they can go back to that initial email about the survey being available for the panel:
come back to the inbetween screen:
log in with their actual user and password,
and then they can finally enter the panel app…
And, here I am welcomed with the first name of my "account." In the initial panel registration survey, I had put Bob, and when I created my account, I put Bo. The name on the account "Bo," that doesn't come through in the panel data in Qualtrics at all either. The panel data and the "account" for the panel portal, seem to be completely separate.
All in all, a lot of steps I find, to get into the Panel UI. Then I find a "simple" email distribution with personal survey url to a List a lot more user friendly. Even though the Panel UI itself is very convenient with the overview of all "your" surveys and the ones you have already completed.
So, did I do something wrong,
or is this really the process to get logged in into that Panel App?
