Force response with custom timer

Hi All, I have a custom timer that will force respondents to advance to next block when time is up. However, when adding Qualtrics' force response feature along with the timer, the page waits and forces respondents to submit answers on the last question within the block even if time is up. I want the timer feature, and also want respondents to have submitted an answer to a question before moving on to the next within the timed block. Any suggestions on how to auto-advance respondent to the next block on the last question page even if no answer is submitted? Currently my timer is set up globally with the attached code in the Header under "Look & Feel" (and also custom CSS). I have an embedded data field "StartTime" set up at the beginning of the survey flow, and right before the timed block, I have "Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData('StartTime', new Date().getTime()); " to start the timer. To force auto-advance, I'm currently using display logic: display only if “StartTime” is

How to assign colour code to a selection

Is it possible to assign a colour when selecting a choice in a MCQ? If the user selects Negotiations and Influencing, the background colour should be green, and if others are selected, another assigned colour will show up. Thanks.

Creating your own multi choice answers

I am creating a multiple choice survey with my own responses which need to be the answer options for 50 questions. When I try and carry the answers through to subsequent questions I cannot remove the default test asking me to write my answers. I end up with my own answers and the default script asking me to type my answers. How can I carry through just my own range of responses. Thanks

Pop-up Button at Randomly Specified Timepoints

Hi All, I'm building a survey in which respondents will work on a task for 10 minutes. I want to have a pop up message along with a customized button for clicking at randomly specified timepoints. More specifically, I want the message to say "Please click on this button in 10 seconds to continue". I know that pop-up messages can be achieved with "alert" function in JavaScript, but how can I build-in a button as well so that the pop-up message disappears after respondents have clicked on the button? I also want to record if clicking is done in 10 seconds after the button is shown. Moreover, I want the waiting time for the button to be clicked to be excluded from the 10 minutes timer. How can I achieve this? Thanks for your help!

PSA: Some text entry data is exporting incorrectly

I have a text entry question where I have numeric content validation set up. A participant entered 16,640 in for this question. When exporting the data table to CSV Qualtrics exports this entry as 16.64. Exporting in Legacy seems to fix the issue. I noticed this today and reported it to Qualtrics. I don't know how long it will take to get fixed. I don't know if this is affecting other export formats, but I would advise using Legacy exports whenever possible, and double checking your data if you have any numeric text entry questions.

How to add a column to the left of text choices in a side by side question type?

I have a set of enablers, and they need to be rated in terms of ability to impact project and second: frequency of competent execution. So I am using a side by side question type with the enablers as answer choices and two columns (one for ability to impact project (1-5 scale) and second for frequency of competent execution (1-6 scale). I want an additional column to the left of the enablers so that I can input the project phase (as the header) and assign design, procurement, construction etc as the phases for the enablers

How to view full information about Email Distributions

We've hit a wall trying to figure out how to share email distribution information. Our initial set up of Qualtrics was done through a different account and since then we have created a shared admin account with which the survey was fully shared and we have shared the distribution lists through the use of groups. Our Qualtrics is integrated with Salesforce and surveys are set up through a trigger. When we log in with the new admin account and go to the Project>Distributions>Emails page, we are unable to view the details about the specific distributions. The following is seen: Email to Recipient: [You do not have permission to view this recipient] Would appreciate help and advice on this issue greatly! Thank you

Hello, I'm trying to add Google conversion tracking to my survey. I added the global site tag to the header, and the conversion tag in one of the questions. However, the global site tag isn't firing. Does anyone have experience with where and how these tags should be placed? Thanks,

Pending Surveys

Hi There, Not sure if this is the right venue but we have pending surveys under "responses in progress". This is the first time that it had so many pending responses (total of 13) and we are not sure if this is an issue or its just that our customer hasn't finish it yet. I can not display the last block on my survey preview

Hello, I have created 6 different blocks but I can not preview the fifth block on my preview. Please see the screenshot attached. After I answer the questions on the 4th block the survey ends. And I can not display the randomized blocks as it should be. I think there is a problem with the Qualtrics software in this case, I copied and created a new survey from the scratch, the same problem exist. I am looking forward to hearing a solution. Side-by-Side Questions: Is it possible to put different headers for multiple row items?

How to hide a question only for tracking quota. e.g city Titer

Mail Merge for Surveys

Good Afternoon. I currently use a mail merge to send a form to all staff that has individualized/personalized information on it for each recipient. Rather than sending that form and having it printed, signed, and sent back, I am interested in seeing whether I can use a "mail merge" type feature to send the form through Qualtrics with the individualized/personalized information for each recipient and allow for an electronic signature. That would mean that when the form was sent out, person A would receive the same email as person B but the specific details (e.g. address, name) would be individualized. Thanks!

Use the display logic with a side by side format

I have two columns included in this side by side type of question. How to make the display logic work with this condition --> the answers of the second column (right) will only displayed only when one of the answers (answer 'never') from the first column (left) is selected? I tried to add a display logic on the right column according to this logic but it didn't work, even if I selected the answer 'never' from the first column. !

Does the table of contents feature always allow earlier blocks to be accessed?

We have a survey where certain pages have no back button (due to branching). Is there a way to avoid this limitation? Specifically, would adding a table of contents allow the blocks before these points to be reached again? I would experiment, but our installation currently lacks the table of contents feature.

How do I hide a recordthat is not part of my filter set?

Hi I am trying to get to grips with the new report tools. I only do one set of reports and year and a lot has changed! I have a report that I have added a filter for a specific department and as you can se form the attached I have a number of records that are pulling through as blank but with the name of the person. These people are not in the filtered department so I don't want to see them. I have added them as a breakout because I need their name next to there comments. In the old version I would have added them as a column and then sorted the column order to put the name before the comments. When I created a report instead of using the reports tool, the filters worked and I could change the column order. How do I do that with the results tool? Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone used Qualtrics to manage phone numbers in a CATI lab?

Been using Qualtrics for a while and like it -- but does not help me in running telephone surveys. I'm thinking this could be done by linking two surveys -- that's the easy part. The first survey is taken by my interviewer staff, the second is initiated if the interviewer reaches a willing respondent. The hard part is that in the first survey, the interviewer should get a contact (phone number) based on the current disposition code for the contact (initially everyone in the list would be eligible) and then be able to update the current disposition code for the contact based on whether or not the survey was completed. Ideas?

Problems with a Block Terming Everyone?

Hi, The first block in my survey contains a few screener questions, e.g., certain responses terminate the survey. At the end of the block there is a question that doesn't terminate any survey - in other words, if one makes it to this question they qualify to take the rest of the survey. I've set up the terminate choices in Survey Flow and everything is working as intended. However, everyone is getting termed at the end of the screening block even if they qualify. Are there any settings that would set up one to terminate at the end of the block? I've looked and contacted support but haven't received a response yet, so thought I'd try this forum. scoring 0 on a hidden default answer for weighted mean calculation - urgent

Hi, I would like to know how to set a question to score 0 on a hidden default answer for weighted mean calculation. I am doing this to achieve the following: The questions are single answer multiple choice questions. Each question has a timer. Whether participants select a wrong answer or fail to select an answer before the time runs out, they receive 0 score for the question (1 for the correct answer). Participants get to see a cumulative weighted mean score of their answers after each question (calculated in a math equation: $e{ round( gr://SC_7VyuEKO4vICLRI1/WeightedMean * 100 , 2) }%) I heard that one way to achieve the above is to make a wrong answer as default answer so that when participants skip the question, a 0 score from the default wrong answer will be counted into the math equation. As a result, they will see a drop in their cumulative mean score right away. However, any answer set as default will be highlighted in the survey to the participants (no way to disable this,

How can I generate a report that contains only data from respondents who have answered all survey questions (i.e. excluding partial responses)?

Hi all, Just a quick question on generating personal links in Qualtrics. When I generate a personal link an Excel sheet is downloaded with the link. Then I can generate an additional personal link in the same name. Why this is happening? Ideally, there should be only one link generated for a potential contact address in the contact list, right? Please help me understand this feature. Thank you.
