Embedded data and Personalized links

Hello Q community: I have two questions in regard to personalized links and embedded data. I would appreciate your help. (1) I would like to use personalized links so that I can track who did or did not complete the survey and send reminders if necessary. Do I need to re-upload the contact list when the system generates personalized links? The system generates a cvc file which automatically loads on my computer. The file contains the contact info that I originally uploaded but also personalized links. (2) What's the difference between embedded data and link type (see tracking replies with link type: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/distributions-module/email-distribution/emails-overview/). The explanation states "the respondent’s name, email, and other information from the contact list is automatically saved with their survey data." I was going to use an embedded data feature (e.g., demographic info of survey respondents that I included in the contact list spreads

Accessing answers in free account mode

Hi, I have a free account at the moment and have received over the 100 free answers for this type of account, I have 27 answers which I am unable to access. If I upgrade, will I be able to access these answers?

Remove response auto-delete on custom validation errors

RESOLVED! Had some JavaScript that reset the values to blank upon page load Hi all, Is there a way to remove the auto-delete when a user inputs a response that triggers validation errors? This is on a constant sum matrix table. The error appears, however it removes the user's response (in both the dependent and the original question), making it difficult to see where they went wrong. Secondly, is there a way to highlight the box where the error took place? ! Thank you! Rose

JS Script to display a block based on previous block display ?

Hello, I have a question regarding JavaScript. I'm a total beginner with it but I really need to get something done for the survey I'm working on at the moment. - I use a loop and merge study, there are 4 blocks (A, B, C, D) - participants are randomly assigned to either A, B, C, D "type loops" and read related arguments - after reading a fixed number of statements they can chose either to stop or to continue reading My question is: - IF they choose to read more, how can I implement in the survey flow or JS a condition/rule saying that: "If they were in condition "A type loops" ; then they will be exposed again to "A(next) type loops" ? I tried without success with embedded data, and could not find solutions up to now. Center answer boxes of text entry question

Dear community, we are using the Minimal 2014 look&feel for our survey and have a questions with multiple openend boxes set up as a form. However, the boxes are not centered, especially on mobile. Is there any option to display the boxes in the middle of the mobile screen? Many thanks in advance! !

Center scale of matrix table

Dear community, we are using a matrix table but have the statement is already above the scale as part of the question. Hence we have no statement in front of the scale and would like to center the scale. Is there any way to do this, e.g. via custom code? !

Horizontal scales for multiple choice on mobile

Dear community, we are using the Minimal 2014 look&feel and have some multiple choice questions with 5 point scales. As it is a tracker and we would like it to look as similar as possible to the old programming, we need these questions to be displayed horizontal on mobile, however they are automatically displayed vertical. Is there any chance to force a horizontal orientation of the scale? Many thanks in advance!

If I anonymize responses in Survey Options, will I know who took the survey over in Target Audience?

I have a survey asking what might be considered more personal information so I want to anonymize the responses so panel members feel more comfortable taking the survey. I'm wondering if the reminder will still be smart (sent to those who haven't taken the survey) and if their response history will still be recorded as completed in Target Audience? I realize I can't tie their data to their email, but will I know who (based on email address) completed the survey? Thank you in advance!

Answers for side by side question not showing up in reports

I have a simple side by side question for clients to enter their serial number and model for each device they have. However, when the form is submitted I am not getting their answers in the email or reports. They are not excluded from analysis. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

List of postcodes?

Hi all! Qualtrics newbie here, looking for what might be very basic help (sorry!) I need my survey respondents to be able to enter a list of postcodes. Is there a way to either: a) Allow respondents to enter postcodes in one text box, separated by a semicolon (or similar), and for validation to ensure they are valid UK postcodes, and that they are separated properly? or b) Allow respondents to enter postcodes into separate text boxes, with validation to ensure they are valid UK postcodes. The number of postcodes will vary from person to person, so ideally they could create the number of boxes they need, or press return after every one they type in until they are done. Any other suggestions would be awesome too! Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Best practice method of distributing surveys by email

I would ideally like to distribute my internal survey using our internal email survey. That way, the users will recognise it as an authentic internal activity, plus the contact list will always be up-to-date. _However_, I want to track respondents' answers, and when I click on "generate a trackable link for each contact", it directs me to create a custom contact list, which undoes all the benefits of sending from the internal email server. Can anyone shed light on the best way to send internal surveys please ? Much appreciated.

I am trying to use QR code for attendance tracking. Is there a way to do it even though it clearly states "This distribution type cannot track identifying information" - thanks.

Reports: Adding more than 1 question to a chart?

In the past Reporting Environment, a chart (e.g., bar chart) could have the results of 2 or more question displayed, as long a scale was the same for all questions added. I can't figure out how to do this in the new Reporting Environment. Thanks, Ian

Can you add a free text option/choice when adding a list using the Multiple choice, Multiple Answer

In this situation: When adding a question with the following format 'Multiple choice', 'Multiple Answer', 'Vertical' drop down list and you wanted to add a list of options/choices plus 'other' as one of the options/choices: Q. Can you add a 'free text' section next to the 'other' option/choice if users choose 'other'. Other, means I want to know more and can they type their response in. I have tried a few things but does not seem to work and wanted to avoid adding another question underneath. I am not fussed about which format I use, but as log as I can have an other option that allows people to free text. thanks Kathy

Automatically Sorting Form Responses (Based on one question)

Hi all - I currently in the process of implementing a Qualtrics form for the staff in my department. This is a form that over 200 student staff members will regularly be submitting responses to and about 50 supervisors will be periodically checking. The form will be used to collect information about educational programs facilitated in the residence halls, and each of the 200 staff members will submit 4-8 responses throughout the academic year. There is a survey item that asks staff members to identify the residence hall that they work in. Ideally, I want the form to function so that based on this particular response, the form submissions are sorted into one of 13 unique files (one for each hall), while also keeping a master list for my work with the information. Is such a thing possible? Is there an easier way to process these responses? Thanks!

Randomization

Hi, I have approached Qualtrics technicians but they said they don't really know so I thought to try here. I need to have 4 groups/blocks in my survey: (first will be some demographic questions and forms etc) 1st block: - 1 manipulated ad - 1 manipulated ad - 1 fake ad - 1 fake ad then set of 4 questions - 1 distraction task and the remaining 3 groups will be exactly the same format (just ads will be different). I want ads to be randomized between those 4 groups but the format needs to stay as above. Now the question is how to create that survey? In one big block, few blocks or...? Is it possible to automatically set the export of responses to finished responses only?

I have a survey which people sometimes don't finish. I just want to export only the finished surveys, but would prefer not to delete the unfinished surveys. Thanks

prefilled answers

I have got 4 questions in my survey which repeat itself 4 times in between ads (different places in the survey). Answers are staying the same after filling in for the first time. I don't want participants to be prone by their previous responses. When the next set of questions arrive i would like answer box to be empty. Or is it only in preview mode? How to avoid this to happen?

Proper inclusion of hyperlink and website review in survey.

As part of a question, I would like the respondent to click on a hyperlink that opens a website IN A SECOND WINDOW for them to review. Then, they will come back to the still open survey window and finish the survey. I know how to add the hyperlink but not how to do it so that it opens a separate window that doesn't just replace the survey window.

QR Codes for Blocks?

Is it possible to create separate QR codes for different blocks in the same survey? The scenario: We have multiple sessions offered during freshman orientation. We want students to scan a QR code as they leave the session to complete a set of questions about that session in particular. Then they go to the next session and do the same thing. I'd like to have a block of questions for each section and for the QR code to direct them to that block, but I'm not sure this is possible. I'd also like to have them authenticate with SSO each time they scan a code so I can keep their results together. I don't want to use the QR code for the whole survey then have students select the session from a drop down because they may select the wrong one. I also don't want to have 20 different surveys with 20 different QR codes... Has anyone tackled a scenario like this? I'm open to alternative ideas if the QR code won't work!
