I have three blocks. I want everyone to response to Blocks 1 and 3, but I want participants randomly assigned to Block 2 so that half the participants complete Blocks 1, 2 and 3 and half the participants only complete Blocks 1 and 3. In other words, I want to exclude Block 2 for half.

Can that be done?

Yes we can use randomizer to do this and the setup should be like below:

Thank You!

This is such an elegant solution of nesting the randomizers. I had not thought of that.

I did something a bit more tedious for me to do but I think it will also work. I took the shorter questionnaire and copied the items into the longer one. So now I essentially combined blocks 2 and 3 and left 3 by itself. So now everyone does block 1 (IC & Demo), then they get a randomized presentation of Blocks 2 and 3 which reflect the old block 2 and the revised block 3 with the block 2 items embedded in it.

Do you think that will also work?

I wasn’t sure if, or how soon, anyone would offer a solution for me. So mine was tedious but should work, right?
