Can't access user uploaded file for incomplete response | XM Community

I’ve got a survey that participants are completing over the course of 4 months. Each month they are submitting a document to show proof of progress and move on through the survey. Participants are submitting their first documents now and I want to check to make sure everything looks good. Unfortunately, I can’t access any of these submitted documents. I get the error “Unauthorized: InvalidBaseUrl.” Is the problem that their responses are still in progress? If so, does anyone have any other work-arounds to accessing these documents so I don’t have to wait 4 months to view them?

If that is not the issue, any other suggestions? I’ve tried accessing the files through the download to CSV and PDF views of individual participants.

Hmm you should probably reach out to Qualtrics Support about that error message because I haven't seen it before.

I think unless respondents are uploading image files, you won't be able to view uploaded files for In Progress responses through the Individual Response view. Other file types should automatically download when clicked if your browser allows it.

Something that might work is to copy the link address of the file URL in the individual response view (right click, copy link address) and paste it into a new tab of a Google Chrome browser. The file will automatically download to your device and the file is named after the uploaded File ID.

*Edited as my browser did not allow automatic downloads when I was clicking around.


Thanks for your response. I got in touch with support and unfortunately any respondent-uploaded files CANNOT be viewed until the response is submitted. So for most surveys this should not be an issue but unfortunately for my application it is problematic. 


That's interesting - I am able to view respondent-uploaded files for responses In Progress, at least when they get downloaded to my device.
