Condition on a default choice? | XM Community

Hello and good afternoon from a sunny Sweden!

Is there a way to set a condition on the default choice setting?

So if someone answer “Yes” in a previous question, a latter multi select question is defaulted to “X”, while of someone responds “No” in the first question, they are open to select whatever they want in the subsequent multi select question.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, out of the box there isn’t a way. You can go the long route of creating 2 similar questions based on display logic where one will have default choice and one won’t. Post which you can merge the data of two in embedded data.

or you can do this via custom code.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for this Deepak. How can I merge these two into one for my response export?

The issue I’m facing is that they need to live in the same column when I export the responses out.

Thanks in advance

You can create one embedded data and based on branch logic fill in that selected choice post that block in survey flow. Use that embedded data for reporting purposes.

Hope it helps!
