I want to create a database of images for research and wondered if I could use Qualtrics as a survey/portal that people can submit photographs to as answers to questions. Is this possible in Qualtrics or do I need an add on? Is there a limit on the size and number of images that can be submitted.

There is a question type called file upload. you should read about that and see if it can fulfill your requirements. Please refer below link to explore file upload question type.
