Does anyone know how to translate the subject line of an email distribution? | XM Community
Skip to main content
I have a multi-lingual survey (28 languages) that I have ported over from another survey platform. On the other platform the subject line of the invite/reminder was part of a general translation file. On the Qualtrics platform I have translated the invitation and the reminder and I need the message to be sent with the Subject line in the same language as the body of the email. Haven't found anything on this in the online documentation of this forum. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi @Chris_M ,

Please follow this documentation (message library) where you can save your messages.

https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/account-library/message-library/

In your case the "Message type" will be "Email subject messages" and then you can edit the message by any language. Once you have done that then while you are distributing the survey you will have to select the subject by clicking on the "drop-down" and selecting the subject line from the message library.

See point no. 9 at this documentation with QTip:

One additional note about translated subjects in case you plan to use the API to create distributions.

It isn't specifically called out in the API documentation, but it is possible to pass in a MESSAGE_ID of a translated email subject to the subject parameter.

This will result in translated subjects that match the language of your email body.
