Randomising gender and scenarios | XM Community

Hi,

I’m trying to create my survey but I’m running into difficulties as it’s a little complicated.

There are 6 scenarios but two versions, version one with a male protagonist and version two with a female protagonist, altogether 12 scenarios, but participants will only be shown one version. I want to randomise the order the scenarios are presented to different participants so there is no order effect.

The survey must also be randomised by gender, specifically male or female.

Example participant is male they will then be randomised into version one (male protagonist) or two (female protagonist) and the order in which the scenarios are randomised.

Hi Ciara,

The link below will do the needful

@CiaraJo You should set up randomizer like this

The 1st one gonna set embedded data protagonist to Male or Female. The 2nd one will randomize order of 6 scenarios. When you write scenario you can insert the info with piped-text

If your question text tell somekind of story you can do the same with more Embedded data, i.e Pronous: He|She, Name: Jimmy|Jenny…… Also, Gender can be randomize in the same way by different Randomizer

Here is an example of one of my scenarios. Do I insert piped text from an embedded data field?

There will be a total of 4 groups and I need each group to be as evenly distributed as they can be.

There are two versions of the scenarios, 6 male protagonist scenarios and 6 female protagonist scenarios.

Does using embedded data ensure that participants will only see one version of the scenarios?

Can you explain in a little more detail how I can randomise gender?

@CiaraJo To clarify, participant gender will be randomized and decided the “Anna” part. Protagonist will also be randomized and decided the “Ben” part of the story?
So no matter what, gender I am, I will be assigned to 1 of 4 groups. I will be Anna | Alex and partner can be Ben | Betty
