Hello,
I am conducting a study on detecting fake news. I want the participants not to be able to open a new tab in the browser they are using while filling out the study (so that they cannot search for news in search engines) Is something like this possible? Can I prevent participants from opening a new tab in their browsers while completing my research? Thanks.

It is possible through JScript to detect respondents who are changing tab/window. They would be warned that if the change tab/window their answer would be invalidated.
However, this would not solve your issue, as they could use another device to perform the searches.
The only possible workaround that I see now is to put a strict time constraint on respondents, as to not give them enough time to perform searches.
AndreaA Do you have an example of this script that you could share?
@jmcph this is a tutorial on how to implement this type of tracking into Qualtrics, with complete code: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/2515245919838479
