Gendered Language within Survey

I am writing a survey which presents people with scenarios which they are meant to identify with. The survey is being written in a gendered language (ie a language in which verbs are gendered). For each scenario presented, each participant will randomly receive either the control scenario, or the experimental scenario (a scenario in which one word is different from the control), and then rate some response to the scenario. Is there a way, maybe with Javascript, to edit the gendered language based on participant response to gender, without creating 3 branches (m, f and non-binary) and rewriting the entire set of scenario couplets two or even 3 times?

Randomly choosing from randomly displayed question.

I have 30 questions in total, 11 of which will be randomly displayed. Now I want to randomly choose 1 from the 11 questions to be a “bonus question” to score, but i can not find a embedded data or something to let me know which 11 questions are displayed. Is there any other logic can do that?

Hide embedded data field from the PDF response

I have an embedded data field in my survey flow that I use to pipe in the totals generated from my constant sum matrix table. When I generate the PDF from a response the embedded field shows up at the bottom. Is there a way for me to hide this from the PDF?

Deleting a Translated Survey

Hello, I used the built-in Google-generated translator to translate a survey, but now I would like to get rid of that translated survey. I don't see that option anywhere though. When I go to Translation Overview, it only shows that I can upload/download the translation or add another language. Sorry if it's silly but I literally clicked everywhere and searched the forums for translated survey support, but I dont see any posts that explain this to me. Thanks!

Responses for open ended question not showing up

Hi Everyone, I am not able to view responses for an open ended question. I had some modification to the question++but for some reason when I download the file from data and analysis, the entire column looks blank.

When a phone call interrupts a mobile survey?

Hello Everyone,This is my first survey and I have a question about this eal-world situation:A person used ScanLife on a flyer with a QR code to start the survey. During the survey, the phone receives a call and the participant takes it. How does the participant get back to the survey. If you click on ScanLife, the phone is stuck in “Loading” spin.What should I do as survey creator to prevent this?

Checking if answers from drop down answers match

Hello! I’m creating a custom validation via the survey flow, where I will be asking the same question twice (in the beginning and in the middle of the survey). Basically, I’m trying to see whether the participant chooses the same answer when asked twice.  One validation question I’m thinking is checking if the participants choose the same state from the dropdown menu. The following is how the question looks like and its respective JS script. Moreover, I’ve already set the embedded variables in the front of the survey flow: ​The following is an image of the survey flow  Basically, I’m trying to see whether the input answers from State1 and State2 match with each other. If they do not, the survey will end immediately. However, even after I put in the same answer for State1 and State2, the survey ends immediately. I could use some guidance or help on how to fix this or implement a better efficient way to validate using two answers from two drop down questions. Thank you!

I collected three surveys (same questions) from three (lets say universities) and now i am not sure how to combine them all in one data set but adding a variable that differentiate which responds came from which university. I am using SPSS. Much appreciated.

Applying "make answer exclusive" to all scale points in matrix

Hi everyone! I have a new challenge in a survey I am creating.I have “none of the above” set to exclusive” and when testing it applies this logic only to the first column.In other words - if I have multiple scale points selected for different stmts - and then click “none of the above” - it only clears the first column (not at all likely)I would like it to clear all selections - in other words - if “non of the above” - then no other selections in any column can be made.How would l go about this?

Branch logic structure

Hi,I have to confess i am struggling with skip logics due to the way it is handled in Qualtrics.But i am determined to learn it the right way.presume i have a questionnaire like that the one below,. may i know how should i best set it up without hiding of questions but purely “skipping out of questions” instead. the reason for not using hiding is that my survey really gets too complicated to manage as it is pretty large and with the use of hiding, it is very easily prone to mistakes. thank youBY

Issue displaying recoded values (Likert-scale) on SPSS after relabeling them on Qualtrics.

Hi, I have created a questionnaire and I have exported data on SPSS. The survey has lots of Likert-scale questions and I have recoded them. Unfortunately, on SPSS I can’t see the labels correctly. For instance, I have a 5 point Likert-scale, from 1= strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree, but on SPSS I can only see 1= strongly disagree and not all the other values. I have recoded also other questions (without likert-scales) and I don’t have this problem. Do you perhaps know why?  Thank you in advance and have a great day!

Create an Accordion for multiple choice questions

I am creating a booking system, where one of the items has multiple items and participants will be able to choice which of these items they want if they do not want to book out the whole thing. So basically a multiple choice. However, as there are many items to choose from, I want it to be a drop down menu or an accordion style. I do not want it to be like the menu below, as it will be very cluttered. Is there any way to do the, because as far as I can see, Qualtrics only allows a drop down menu while only allowing to choose one item.

Email task - help a newbie!

Hi, Is it possible to do the following (and if so, how?!):If a person fills in “Survey 1”, can completion of this trigger an email link to “Survey 2” to the same person, using the email address they have entered in “Survey 1”? Also - if they do not complete “Survey 1” for some reason, can I also set the workflow so that an email is sent as a reminder to complete the survey after a set amount of time? Many thanks!

What is the best way to make sure that the same survey ID are not being entered twice?

Hi, I am programming the surveys and it’s important that each person who will complete this (anonymous) survey enter a unique survey ID.  I can’t seem to find a way to do so.  Example scenario is like this John opens his survey, he types in 1000 as his survey ID. And he won’t submit the survey for another 30 mins. Jane also opens her survey a few minute after John, and she types in 1000 as her survey ID. Does Qualtrics have a real-time function where if 1000 was already used by John (though he has not yet submitted his entire survey but the survey ID is in use or something), it would be impossible for Jane to also type in 1000? Like an error message would pop-up or the survey would not let her proceed unless she enters a different number like 1001 or something?  Thank you so much!

autopopulate column 2 in a SBS when a selection is made in column 1

Hi All,i have a SBS question that is repeated a number of times thru a survey (Simple Layout). Response Summary lanugage

Hi All, I am new to creating surveys and am working on emailing individuals who complete our survey their Response Summary answers but when the email goes out, there is default text right under the Response Summary header that appears to be for the survey creator and not something that the respondent should see. It shows up in the PDF that they can download and if they click the URL to view Results. Does anyone know where I go can change or remove this language? Any help would be really appreciated.

Thought Listing

Hey there i am attmenting to create a survy with thought listing, this would be a block where participants fill inn there thoughts via text. Then i would like it if when they have written something another text box appares giveing them the option to write as mutch as they would like. I would also like that when they write in the boxes they have to indicate if this was a posative or negative thought (some form of buttons or arrows).  Any ideas or exsamples would be appriciated.

Urgent-Problems in Mobile view of survey

Hello,I'm encountering an issue with my survey's mobile view. While it appeared fine during the mobile preview, upon attempting to check it via an anonymized link, a section of my survey is displaying incorrectly on mobile devices. This section comprises multiple questions involving HTML and JavaScript, with 3 to 5 tables included within the text. In mobile devices, options cover the tables, and they mix. Use ChatGPT to create survey responses

I need to solicit respondents occupational job titles, so I’m using an open-ended question: “What is your job title” and will get responses like “carpenter”, “teacher”, etc. The problem is, for these to be really useful for us they need to be linked to a specific code in Canada’s National Occupation Classification System. So, someone might enter “teacher”, but they could be a “secondary school teacher” or an elementary school teacher and we may want to distinguish between those two, both have distinct codes in the NOC.. In my mind, I would like to use ChatGPT to do the following:Take the piped text fo the respondent’s initial job title Feed that with a prompt to ChatGPT Have qualtrics present the user with all possible matches that respond from the NOC Have the user then select which one best matches their job title Record that response.  I have been playing around with the ChatGPT Task in a workflow and I am successfully able to get 1 and 2 done. Can you use a UTM in combination with a survey distribution link?

I want to add a UTM to the end of my survey so I can analyse where most of my survey results are coming in from. However, when I add in the UTM info to the end of the URL, the link breaks. Any ideas why?

Is it possible to add embedded data to the opt out link?

I am tasked with monitoring opt-outs from our directory by documenting the date within a designated embedded data variable, which I've named R_Opt_Out. My question is whether it's feasible to construct the opt-out link in a way that captures this information when individuals click on it. I’m thinking something like: ${l://OptOutURL}&OptOut=dir&R_Opt_Out=${date://CurrentDate/DM}${date://OtherDate/Y/+0 day} Thank you all!

How to use formatting (e.g. CSS/HTML/Javascript) in MaxDiff template to format answer choices?

Hello, I’m using the Qualtrics MaxDiff “Guided Project” template tool, and I wish to have special formatting for my answers. For example, I’d like to bold part of the text in each MaxDiff answer choice. Is there a way to use formatting (e.g. bold, italics, underline) for MaxDiff answer choices in the MaxDiff template tool?
