How to get choice numbering correct when pasting choices from e.g. Word?

I usually make my survey in Word and then paste stuff into Qualtrics. When I have, for instance, 3 multiple choice options, I copy and paste that little list into the first answer in Qualtrics. It then creates 3 choices. However… the numbering of those choices is not 1, 2, 3 but 1, 4, 5.

Is there a way to avoid this? Now I need to go back and recode values for each question where I used this copy pasting trick.

Surprisingly, it suddenly seems to work OK today! Maybe Qualtrics read my message?

This is still an issue for me except I’m copy pasting from Notepad++ clean line breaks. So if I have five options on their own lines:

Apple
Banana
Carrot
Cow
Bird

Then copy+paste the full list while selecting the first option in Qualtrics, it will code them as 1 4 5 6 7 instead of 1 2 3 4 5.

This happens even if I have 5 options defined ahead of time or the default 3 :(

I think I used Excel this time when it worked. And maybe Notepad when doing this earlier. What happens if you use Excel?
