Is there a way to add maximum value validation to a side by side column?

I have restricted a column of a side by side item to only allow numerical values. I want respondents to be able to skip a row without entering a value. If they do enter a value, I want to make sure it is less than 100. Is there a way to add a max value constraint to a column while keeping responses optional?
