Recoding Liker-scale to a 10-point scale or using the Scoring system? | XM Community

I have a long survey with many 6-point Likert-scale questions (completely agree - completely disagree). Because of the number of questions, I want to show the results in the Dashboard, Results-Reports in table widgets. This is why I'm recoding the Likert-scale in a 10-point scale in the Survey itself.

  1. Completely disagree: 0
  2. Disagree: 2,5
  3. Neutral: 5
  4. Agree: 7,5
  5. Completely agree: 10

Now I'm wondering if in the long term it wouldn't be better to use the Scoring system.

And I'm also wondering if the recoding with decimals will cause problems with the analysis tools like Stats iQ. In the Dashboard it works fine, but it's difficult to predict which other issues I might encounter.

What do you advise to do?

@JohannesCE When using a typical 5 or 7 point scale, I have historically recoded values to 0, 6, 8, 10

I’m not sure how a 6 point scale would best translate without decimals, but from https://www.qualtrics.com/support/stats-iq/settings/variable-settings/ it appears decimals are at least supported by stats iQ

Good luck!
