Response Capture when De-selected | XM Community

Hello, 

In my survey, participants can fill out multiple questions based on what they choose in a multiple-choice question with multiple answer options through display logic. However, when they de-select after providing a response, they data is no longer captured. 

 

Is there a way to preserve the data even though they deselected? It’s odd because when you select and deselect in the survey, the responses stay but they are absent in the exported data file. The responses are long form. 

 

The ability to deselect and preserve answers will make the survey much cleaner.

Hi,

Perhaps another community member with a better technical understanding can give a more detailed explanation, but, long story short, this is how the platform is designed to work. Responses entered in questions connected to display logic that are later hidden when a respondent changes an answer are kept available while the survey response is in progress in case the respondent decides to change the answer back again, but they are not written to the survey dataset if the question remains hidden upon submission.
