Survey flow | XM Community

Hi,

I'm very new to Qualtrics and really hope that someone can help me...

My first question is about how to successfully create a survey flow that first shows all respondents an introduction and some background questions. After that, I would like to randomly divide them into two groups, a treatment group and a control group, each shown a short text. I've done this with a randomizer.

Next, all respondents should read four vignettes. These vignettes vary in terms of the characteristics of the citizen (easy and difficult), and respondents should be randomly assigned to either an easy or difficult citizen in all four vignettes. Additionally, the order of the vignettes should also be random.

Finally, all respondents should answer a series of questions (including manipulation checks and some questions about their work situation) and, lastly, see a concluding text.

How do I set this up? It seems that once I've created a randomizer, I can't get it to "jump back" to the "main path" in the survey flow.

Finally, how do I tell Qualtrics that I want variables indicating which condition respondents have been assigned to? I've tried using embedded data. It seems to provide me with a variable, but I'm not getting the values with it.

I really hope there's someone who can help!

Thank you very much in advance.

@N_Ashrafi Your survey flow will go from top to bottom and can have branch base on your set-up. You can’t jump back.

So first, you should have a “Introduction&background” block

After that, if you want a variables indicating which condition respondents have been assigned to, you should use an embedded data block and group it with your condition block. But make sure to give the variables desire value or else you’re just declaring it. Click “set value now” to do it.

Next, randomizer of vignettes. I already gave you the answer in your previous topic

Lastly, A conclude block with manipulation checks and concluding text.
Hope this helps

Hi again,

Once more, thank you so much for your help! I've got everything set up now, and it's working!

I just have one more question that I hope you or someone else can help with: How do I create a variable to indicate the order in which respondents received the vignettes? For example, a variable named "order" with values like:

1 indicating the order: V1, V2, V3, V4
2 indicating the order: V2, V3, V4, V1
3 indicating: V3, V4, V1, V2
4 indicating: V4, V1, V2, V3

and so on… ??

Additionally, I'd like a variable indicating how much time it took them to read through the four vignettes. Alternatively, the time it took them to complete the entire questionnaire.

Thanks in advance for the help!
