How do I allow anonymous participants to create an ID?

I am running an anonymous study, but need to allow participants to be able to withdraw their data. I participated in a survey on Qualtrics last year, where I was asked to create my own ID number in case I wished to withdraw my data. I cannot find how to set this up. Please can anyone help/ point me to a tutorial? Many thanks

This is pretty easy. Just have a text entry question where someone enters their desired User ID. This will be saved with the response, so if I request comes to delete their data, just search for this User ID in your Data and Analysis tab and delete that response. Also, if there is a chance of duplicate User IDs created, such as 2 people pick JoeSmoe, then you may want to tack on a random number generator at the end (embedded data math operation - fyi) and then tell them their User ID at the end (i.e. JoeSmoe4561).
