Basic Data Transform for Date Reformat

Hi. Wondering if anyone has had this issue before. I want to send a survey based on a Salesforce Report. I'm embedding a field from the report called "created_date" and it comes across as, for example "1/1/2025". I've tried using data transformation to have it read as "01/01/2025". The workflow says it's successful and I've also downloaded the transformation report and see no errors on it. As part of the workflow it adds the contacts and embedded to my mailing list.

When I look at my mailing list, the new contacts are there, but the embedded date still has the 1/1/2025 format. Qualtrics doesn't seem to be able to read that format when I try to use it to sample my list from the XM Directory. If I remove the created_date restriction, it sends to the whole list. Otherwise, I get nothing.

Any ideas? Support is looking at it but I've been working on this for about a week now and no luck yet.

I've seen similar issues before, here are a few things you might want to check:

  1. Verify the Data Transformation Output – Even though the report shows no errors, try manually triggering the workflow again and double-checking if the transformed value appears as expected. Sometimes, minor formatting issues persist despite a successful run.

  2. Check the Field Type in XM Directory – Qualtrics may still be treating created_date as a string rather than a date field. Try re-uploading a test list with a properly formatted date (MM/DD/YYYY) and see if it recognizes it correctly.

  3. Use a Different Transformation Method – Instead of applying the transformation within Qualtrics, see if you can reformat the date at the Salesforce report level before it gets pulled into Qualtrics.

Since Support is already looking into it, you might want to ask them if there’s a specific format required for filtering in XM Directory. Hope this helps, and let me know if you find a workaround!

Thanks! I am running a lot of tests this morning. I ended up uploading a list manually, but the date criteria doesn’t seem to be setting off the trigger even though documentation says that’s the format it needs to be in. I’m going to keep changing it and see if any of them work, so thanks for the idea!
