In my survey, participants auto progress to the next block when a specified time limit (1 minute) has been reached for the previous block. I used the script suggested in the following link and made the adjustments that were discussed in the answer: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45703003/qualtrics-progress-to-next-block-when-time-is-up?rq=1The timer is displayed correctly and participants are auto progressed to the next block when the time is up in the current block. However, when participants simultaneously hit the next button when time is up (Time Remaining: 00:00), the auto progress function no longer works properly. In this case, participants move on to the next question in the current block and are able to answer all questions in this block. This is a huge problem in my survey. Participants should only be able to see the questions, which they are able to answer within the given time. Do you have any suggestions for my problem? Hello call. I am hoping someone might have an idea that helps me solve my problem. So far I have not found the right combination of question IDs, answer IDs, and Choice Link. What I am trying to do is embed a mini, single question in my Qualtrics emails. The goal is the recipient is more likely to click an answer, it takes them to the survey, and then prefills the answer to the question (it is not the first question in my survey). I have reviewed all the help articles I can find. I have no problems embedding a tall or wide question for single answer multiple choice questions. I then use the HTML view to update the QID, AnswerDescriptionIDs, etc. What is not working is for a matrix question statement (I only want 1 of them). Qualtrics support advises the function is not available for matrix. I think I can get it to work. I was able to get the statement itself to look like a question, and include the AnswerDescription to label the embedded buttons Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree.

I have a survey where the respondents are given a link to retake the survey as a new response after they’ve completed it. When they retake it, most of their responses stay the same, but I have a file upload question where they need to upload a new file. Is there a way, possibly using Javascript, to remove the previously uploaded file when they retake the survey? I know that they can just upload the new file over the existing one, but I'd rather remove the previous file so that they don't accidentally think they've uploaded the file when it's really the old one.

Hello all,I am building a survey where I need a specific validation option that I am having trouble figuring out. We will be asking the number of people their family, and then in the next question we want to use a constant sum question so participants can enter the number of people in their family that fall in to a specific age category. Below I have put a screenshot of what I these questions look like. I want the total for Q230 to have validation such that the total must equal the numeric response provided in Q228. Entering the piped text into the validation does not work.I have found this: https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/2715/constant-sum-must-total-question. I can get this to work but only if there are 7 response options in the table. The JS for the HOLD TOTAL question doesn't seem to be holding any information about the number of response to sum, at least not that I can tell. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue might be? Or have a different solution? Thank you!

Hi all, I am writing a consent form in the beginning of the survey and I want the participants to check two cheekbones. If they don't select both of them, the can't pass page (similar to a force response). I don't want to send them to the end of the survey, I just want to not allow them to pass the page. Hi-My survey has a footer and the Qualtrics plug elements at the bottom of the page.The survey has two main background colors. For the skin, progress bar, and skin inner, a light green, and for the header and footer elements, a dark green.My goal is to have the user see the main content (below the progress bar) framed vertically by two solid blocks of the dark green, in which the header elements, skin content area, and footer all have the same width.My frustrations have been with the footer elements.Problem 1: In some window sizings, when the amount of content on the page is small, the footer or footers (depending on which I have set to display) separate vertically from the plug, which sticks to the bottom of the page, leaving a stripe of the light green background color between the two footer elements. I have a Constant Sum question asking about hours/week spent on 5 different tasks. If the Total is greater than 100, I need to generate an error message and not allow the survey to proceed until the correction(s) are made. I've seen several validation questions in the community discussions, but haven't found any anseres. I can access the total if I begin a new block after the question, but this doesn't do what I need. Any ideas?

I want to know if it is possible to the change the CSS layout of specific question. Example, I would like these two questions side by side to save space. I can't use the side by side question because you need to have the same number of variables in each. Is there a thing as CSS of a block?

We are using Qualtrics to test students. We want the total time for the exam to be 55 minutes. We have three blocks of questions that each student will be able to take. We plan to randomize the questions and answers within each of the three blocks, but we want the timing for the total exam to be 55 minutes. If a student doesn't finish within the 55 minutes we want the exam to auto submit (no matter which block they are on). Currently, the only solution I have is to put each question into a block, but it seems lengthy and I've been told by Qualtrics that the Qualtrics Community may be able to help me with java script/code. I don't want each block to be 55 minutes, I want all three blocks to be for 55 minutes. If a clock shows for the student great, but if not, I'm fine with that too as long as it times out after 55 minutes. If anyone could help me with this I would be truly grateful. We are designing a study that involves a list of words, a distractor task, and a test. For the distractor task, they complete math verification problems (e.g., 4 + 6 = 10 ?True or False) for 1 minute. This means that we will either need to resample problems randomly, or sample from a very long list that even the fastest participant cannot complete in 1 minute. What we cannot figure out is how to get Qualtrics to advance to the next block after 30 seconds. We tried defining “timeleft” as 30 seconds and using the following code. But after the 30 seconds are up, Qualtrics then rapidly displays and automatically advances past all remaining items. We have a question that, ideally, would be repeated as many times as a participant wants. Since loop and merge wont accommodate that, we have repeated the question multiple times, and are using a second question to ask if they would like to answer again, basically it is a navigation question. It is a three level drop down that is basically a company directory that lets you choose a person for a nomination. It is TOO LARGE to use piped text or carry forward. The issue we are running into is that at the end of the survey when we display responses before submitting, the intro text and navigation questions are cluttering it up to the point that it is unreadable.We would like to know if:There is any way for the navigation question to not have its responses recorded in the survey, so they don't show on the "display response" page.ORStore the third level drop down nominations as variables and then create a custom "display response" page.Any help is appreciated. Hi all,I'm trying to ask the following question: "What is the chance that X will be more than 1.5*Q"?" where Q is the answer to a previous text box question. I use the expression $e{ q://QID166/ChoiceTextEntryValue * 1.5 } in place of 1.5*Q.Unfortunately, being Q a large number, I used the "Cleave" function in the previous question to get thousand separators, so that I get 0 whenever Q is greater or equal than 1000.Is there a way to fix this issue? I would really like to keep the thousand separators because Q is a very large number and I don't want survey participants to be confused. Ideally, I would like the thousand separator to show up also in the expression 1.5*QMany thanks!

Hey!Maybe a complicated question: I want to take constant sum responses from Question 1 and automatically select responses based off of these into a range in question 2. So, if a respondent has typed 20% in question 1, "20-39%" is automatically selected in question 2, as that percentage fits into that % group.I have figured out how to copy responses over from one constant sum response to another constant sum response, but need to turn these results into % group instead.Hopefully that makes sense. Hi! I've tried to come up with the right script for allowing participants to respond to a 2-answer multiple choice question by using the keyboard. I would like to have participants use the keyboard 'J' for answer 'No' and the keyboard 'F' for answer 'Yes'. Hi, I have a loop and merge for a question, and save its values for later. In the survey flow, I first create embedded variables that are empty these are: "receiver1id" and "shared1" ... through "shared20". The "shared1" through "shared20" work well: they are saved in data export. The "receiver1id" shows in the survey, when I ask it to display receiver1id value. But is not in the data export. My javascript code is shown below. Would someone know why "receiver1id" does not save, but the other variables do? Hello all,I currently have a question with two choices. If choice one gets selected, a text box appears. If choice 2 gets selected, no text box appears. I want the text box to clear the answer typed in the first choice if a participant were to change their mind and then select choice 2 after having already typed something in the text box for choice 1.
