Allocating participants into each group in the second part of the study | XM Community

Hi there,

 

I am setting up a two-part study in Qualtrics, and based on the participants’ answers in the first part of the study, I want to allocate them to each condition in the second part. So, I thought of having the participants enter their student id before completing the first part, and then using their student id they could enter the second part after a week. However, I am not sure how I can manually allocate each participant based on the different conditions since it cannot be randomized.

If you are using the XM directory, you could updat the contact details after they complete the first survey and pull that information in for the second one.

Alternatively, you could also add a query string parameters to the next survey you send out.

So I have chained the two parts of my study using the students’ emails, how should I manually allocate them into the conditions using the display logic or Javascript?

If you send the email via XM directory, all embedded data will be available within the survey, just add the respective embedded data in the survey, keep its value empty.

Then you can use branch logic to show the different conditions.
