Is there a way to edit a question in the library and have changes pushed to any survey that uses that question?

Specific Context:

I have a multiple choice question block with a large number of courses listed in it.  This block shows up multiple times in one survey and in a few other surveys.  I’d like to be able to update the question block in one central location and have any changes pushed to the surveys that have that question.  Is that possible?

Hi @JodiD ,

You can create a question in the Library and then use it across multiple surveys. However, editing a question in the Library won't automatically update the question in surveys where it's already being used. When you edit a question in the Library, it only affects surveys created after the edit.

To update the question in all surveys where it's used, you would need to manually replace the old version of the question with the updated version in each survey.

Another approach is to use Survey Flow. You can create a survey specifically for managing your library of questions. Then, in each survey where you use the question block, you can add a "Get Survey" block to pull in the question block from your question management survey. This way, when you update the question block in the question management survey, the changes will be reflected in all surveys where the updated question block is pulled in via the "Get Survey" block.

Thank you!

@Nanditha MM how do you edit a question in the library though? I’m able to rename them but can’t figure out a way to edit the responses

@heatherkelly While I don’t have answer, I can just here to say I have the same issue on my end. It would be a great feature to update the library version of the question and have that copied down to any surveys in which is it used.

Based on ScottG’s response on this thread, it is not possible.

Why even add it to the library at that point I wonder?
