Hiding scale points based on a condition

I have seen a few posts about this already but my rows are randomized so I cannot just go to a specific row and hide a scale point. I have a 0-10 satisfaction scale with a Not applicable. I have close to 20+ rows and I only need to enable the "Not applicable" to 4 of them. How can I do this if rows are randomized?

Matrix questions - hiding scale points for particular statements?

I have a matrix table where I'm asking respondents to indicate the ways in which they consume particular products. The question is set up so that the products are Statements (carried forward from a previous question), and the Scale Points are the format(s) in which they use the product. The issue I'm having is that not all scale points are applicable to every statement - for example, using a web-based product in a printed format. Is there a way I can use custom Javascript to hide the scale points that don't apply for affected products? (Of course, if there's an easier method to hide these wihtout resorting to JS I'd be happy to hear about that too!)

How to create 'prefer not to answer' checkbox beside free text fields

Hello,I am currently creating a survey whereby we have a question asking for multiple types of numeric data (e.g. number of staff, average age, average tenure etc.) with text entry fields.For each text entry field, I would like to also add a corresponding checkbox in the event the respondent prefers not to answer.From other posts I know people have recommended using a multiple choice question type and for each radio button to allow text entry but I'm not sure this would completely work as I would like to have the checkbox text say: "prefer not to answer" but also for each text entry box to have a description for data required (e.g. number of staff, average age, average tenure etc.).Does anyone have any suggestions to help?Thanks.

I want to set piped default answers for a Constant Sum question that are not a valid answer

I have a series of Constant Sum questions that ask people to make allocations with different budgets. I.e., first with $1,000, then with $800. I used piped text and default answers to populate responses from the $1,000 question into the $800 question, so that respondents have a jumping-off point to start from. However, because those answers aren't a "valid" response (they exceed the custom validation total of $800), it doesn't work properly. The first two allocation categories get erased so that the total equals $800.Is there a way to set it so that the validation doesn't let them proceed with responses that are "invalid," but allows them at least temporarily before the answer is submitted?

Piped values from previous question for Custom Start in Constant Sum question?

Hello,I have a series of bar-format constant sum questions with different forced totals. I would like for the values respondents enter for the first question to be the custom start points for the next question. In more detail, they are first given a budget of 1,000 tokens to distribute across different areas, and then their budget is decreased to 800 tokens so we can see where they choose to divest from. I want the bars to start in the same position as their previous answer so they can just drag it down.Does anyone have any ideas for how to accomplish this? Thanks in advance!

How to ensure a value box position stays the same when viewed from different browsers

Hi all,I have used JavaScript to display a value box in one of my questions and it looks perfect when viewed via Google or Opera, but the position is changed when viewed with Firefox. Is there any anyway to ensure the position stays the same with different browsers? Getting HTML code to stay in sentence instead of moving to another line

We are using pop ups over certain words in our survey, however, when I input the HTML code, the word is put on a lower line, and I cannot manually move the word back to be in the sentence without ruining the code. Any help to ensure the word stays in the sentence would be greatly appreciated!! Problem with adapting timer code

Hello,I am new to all programming and am having an issue with getting a value embedded in Qualtrics to display properly. I currently have a timer (based on code that gets copied and discussed here a lot) that, as far as I can tell, works properly but has a quirk of requiring the overall time to be stated twice. When the header is set-up to hold the timer, the total time has to be declared in the innerHTML of the element, and then later on in the code the actual timer is set-up and will update the innerHTML with the new timer value as it increments down. This means that the moment that text starts getting displayed, the header will read whatever you initially wrote when setting up the innerHTML, and then one second later once the timer’s interval is completed one time, that value gets overwritten with a value stored elsewhere (specifically the copied code stores it as a variable called timerSeconds). Since there is a 1 second delay before the timer starts, if I wanted a 60 second time l

CSS for slider elements?

I am trying to customize the font size and placement of some slider elements. This is my first attempt at implementing custom CSS in Qualtrics. It doesn't help that I'm not very experienced with CSS either. Here is the slider as is:I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the font size/styling on the labels as well as the "No association" box. Using the element inspector, I found the labels in a div with class 'labels-container' and the "No association" box contained in a div with class 'n-a-container'. I added the following with no results (with or without !important): .n-a-container  { font-size: 10px;}.labels-container { font-size: 14px;}Any thoughts on why this isn't working? I thought maybe the directly-applied styling in each field could be causing the problem and have tried removing that formatting to see if the CSS would then take priority, but no luck there.And is it possible to adjust the placement of the "No association" checkbox in CSS? Video sound is playing automatically before the video starts playing

Hi Everyone, In my survey I have integrated some mp4 format videos. These videos contain sound. The preview suggests that as soon as the page which contains the video is reached, the video does not play, but it's sound does. How do I fix this? I want both the sound and the video to play at the same time, after the participant clicks "start"on the video. Thank you!

Essay Text Box with Checkbox

Dear Community,I'm looking for a way to put a checkbox directly under an essay text box:Since the position of the text entry for an answer option cannot be moved easily, I first created an additional question (Multiple Choice) with only one answer option and hidden the question text. Date Picker with Matrix Table

Hello - I have found a previous post about using a calendar date picker and was able to get it to work in a free text question. However, I am unable to get the date picker to work with a matrix question. Is the calendar date picker possible on the matrix question? If so, what am I doing wrong? I followed the same steps that got it to work in the free text question.

Is Display Logic compatible with Javascript for a Fake Next button?

I have a block in a survey where I use fake next button Javascript to validate numeric entries in different fields before the respondent can move to the next page. (The beginning and end of the code is below.)It's worked fine in all survey cycles to date. For the next survey cycle I'm trying to add a question to the block that is part of the validation but is only displayed under certain conditions. I edited the Javascript to incorporate the validation with the new question before I set up the Display Logic and it worked as expected. But once the Display Logic is added to the new question, the Next button is unresponsive. I have workarounds that I can pursue, so I'm not looking for someone to provide an extensive programming solution. Mainly, since this is the type of thing unlikely to be documented, I'm just looking for confirmation from someone with programming experience whether or not Display Logic and fake next button Javascript are incompatible when the same question is referenc

Javascript for incremental buttons on text entry?

I would like to have a text entry box where respondents can use buttons on either side of the text box to increase/decrease their responses by one. Ideally, I would love for it to be in the style that is represented on the Qualtrics Question Type toolbar to increase/decrease the number of choices, statements, fields, etc. (see screen grab below). Does anyone have any javascript code for this particular style?I saw a previous thread that used code to produce a similar product but in a different style (https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/6691/increment-embeded-field-data-by-1-upon-question-display). The above style would be much preferred, as the people using my survey would be using an iPad/phone and would benefit from having the larger, more distinct buttons. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Enable participants to label their own groups in "Pick, Group, and Rank" question

Hi, I have been struggling with the Pick, Group and Rank question. Participants will be asked to complete a self-descriptive card sorting task online for which they need to label the groups by themselves. Is this possible with qualtrics, and if yes, how can I set this up? I would be really happy for some suggestions and thank you in advance, Justin

Is it possible for the Table of Contents to not track progress?

I found a thread which allows me to disable the checkmarks in the Table of Contents sidebar (https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/comment/10711#Comment_10711). However, even when the checkmarks are disabled, if a respondent clicks through an entire block without answering any questions, the TOC headings are still grayed out in the sidebar as if the block is complete. So then, when navigating through the survey with the next button, it is skipping those blocks of the TOC that it considers to be "completed" sections (even if none of the questions are answered). I don't want to make the questions required, I'm just trying to prevent it from looking like they are done when they are not and then deciding which questions/blocks to skip. Is there some code or a setting I'm not aware of that will prevent Qualtrics from thinking a block is complete just because all the pages have been viewed? Thanks!

unable to create personalized distribution links via api

Hello, If i use the website to create personalized distribution links the only requirement is the survey (which of course you have to select to get to distributions link) and a contact list. From there personalized links can be generated without any other info. However, when trying to use the api, it is requiring me to fill in message block (library id messagetxt etc), header block (from/replay email name,etc). Neither of which i want to do as we want to send the links later ourselves. I'm wondering if there is a way to create personalized links via the api where only recipient block and survey block are used. Looking at the api docs (https://api.qualtrics.com/guides/reference/distributions.json/paths/~1distributions/post) it appears that used to be possible . Moving multiple choice buttons within a question?

Adjusting dimensions in Qualtrics email using HTML source code?

Personalised feedback email

We have a survey which should provide personalised feedback in an email, but each question/answer has its own feedback. E.g. question 1 has answer options 1A, 1B, 1C and each of these answers have their own feedback. Question 2 has answer options 2A, 2B, 2C again with their own feedback. There are too many combinations to prepare an email for each scenario. At the same time it is not possible to use if-then-else in an email (as far as I know) so the conditional logic has to happen somewhere else. Note that "In Page Display Logic" can be used to give direct feedback, but it's the email part that I am having trouble with.
