Beyond 'make answer exclusive' - how to not allow a response to be selected with specific other ones

In a multiple choice list, I have a choice I don’t want to be able to be selected if specific other choices are selected - different from it itself being a completely exclusively choice.  Is this possible in Qualtrics?

Hello @yve872,

Simple way to do it will be using Display Logics in choices instead of question. You can display logic to hide this choice if any other particular choice is selected.
Other way to do it is using custom coding. You can write code and use it.

This does not seem possible even though the logic allows.  Error messages come up in survey preview since the display logic is based on selections in the same question.  I am starting to think it isn’t possible in Qualtrics even though other survey programming platforms allow for this.

Hi,

If your case is simple enough, you might be able to leverage groups (single answer within group). Otherwise, as @Sachin Nandikol says, you can write your own custom javascript.

See https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/editing-questions/formatting-answer-choices/#AssigntoGroup for groups within MCMA questions.
