Custom Code

Hello,I have a survey that has to be a series of matrix tables with 1-3 lines in each. (I know it's an ugly design, unfortunately not my choice!)To make it a bit clearer in the layout I've put one question per page, but would like it toautoadvance after the selection is made on the last line to save all that clicking. Can anyone help me with the Javascript to do this? The selection in 'look and feel' doesn't work, and the only script I did find advanced after the first selection, leaving the lower lines incomplete.Thank you

I am using Qualtrics to create an assessment for students. At the beginning of each module, I present some data in tables. To make the tables easier to read, I added some simple formatting in html (e.g., using for heading cells instead of , centering the data in the cells, etc.). When I click on the Rich Text editor, the tables appear formatted correctly. However, when I deploy the survey, the formatting doesn't appear and instead I get the ugly vanilla html formatting. Any idea on how to make what appears in the rich text editor the same as what appears for users?

I am using Qualtrics to create online forms. I my forms, I have some "Essay Text Box" entries (or "Multi line"). I am using email triggers to deliver form replies via email and include those "Essay Text Box" entries into email body as piped text ${q://QID16/ChoiceTextEntryValue}. Unfortunately, the new lines formatting from the original text is not preserved. For example, if "Essay Text Box" entry was typed with multiple lines as: _I want this text to be readable_ then, in emailed message it becomes just one line: _I want this text to be readable_ Is there a way to preserve the original lines (new line) formatting? I also insert piped text into "From Name:" and "Reply-To Email:" of emal triggers, which works well. Such feature seems to be not available in email Tasks. For that reason, I am not able to use Tasks instead of email triggers. Thanks

Hello XM World, I have a general question. I'm testing an idea about a pre/post survey design -- the testing is happening just on one survey currently to see if it even works before creating the second. In Question 18, I ask a multiple choice question about that requires them to select all that apply from a multiple choice list (8 different responses). On question 19, I want the selected responses to appear in the sentence... "You've previously indicated: ${e://Field/Previous%20Responses}" To accomplish this, I added an embedded data field to survey flow near the top, named it 'previous responses' and it appears as ${q://QID18/ChoiceGroup/SelectedChoices}. When I publish and test this... the ${e://Field/Previous%20Responses} remains blank, but I see the sentence text. Can anyone advise? Additionally, is there a way to SPLIT the responses -- say an individual selected options 1, 4, and 8 and I wanted to embed those as multiple choice OPTIONS for another survey question on the post surv

Hello,I have the following code to help me increase the matrix table text box height and width. I am looking for a way to text wrap. Can anyone help me with the code to help it wrap. I have tried various forms of break-word, overflow-wrap, wrap-word. I have not coding knowledge, I just use forums like this to find the code that I want. Thank you,LoriQualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){ jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" input[type='text']").css("width","12em") jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" input[type='text']").css("height","5em")

I want to add a middle line into the slider question I have. I tried to use Grid Lines with Snap to Grid or without Snap to Grid function, but it doesn't look like the way I want. Here is an example screenshot of the output I have right now:I have two questions:1-) When I select Grid Lines to 1 --> I can only see -4.3 and +4.3 (min and max values) and when I make grid lines to 2, I can see 0 too. However, I only wanna show 0. 2-) Is there any way to create a vertical line that shows the position of zero for all choices? It is gonna be like a vertical line at the middle of each question coming from 0.Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate!

I have a Form Field item with 4 boxes to be filled in that have text before and after them. Ideally, I'd like the text entry boxes small enough that everything fits on one line, but no matter what I do the text entry boxes are stretched out to occupy a full line and the text that goes before/after is pushed onto new lines.I have tried using the "Short" option in the Edit Validation view.I have tried clicking and dragging the size of the boxes in the builder.I have tried several HTML/Java/CSS plugins, but none of them have worked and I probably don't know enough to have plugged them into the right place.I'm already running something in the Javascript view to add text after the boxes, so I'll post that here incase that's causing some sort of interference.Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){var inputs = $(this.getQuestionContainer()).select('input[type="text"]');var input = inputs[0];$(input).insert({after: 'feet'});var input = inputs[1];$(input).insert({after: 'inches'});var inpu

Hello Everyone, any guidance here would be appreciated. We have a survey where participants answer 50 questions and these questions are divided into 8 groups. For each group there is a score associated and that needs to be calculated based on the responses given by the participants for each group. The questions have a likert scale Never to Always. I need to pick up these responses and use a javascript for this calculations and then place these calculation results in a open form questions. Here is the JavaScript i am using: function ScoreCore(){        // Initialize scoring variables        var score = 0, questions_answered = 0;        //Convert all arguments to an array        var dimension = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments);        //QB passes strings. Convert the string array to Number        dimension = dimension.map(Number);            //Loop through the array confirming that the response is not 0 or -77, which would indicate the respondant did not answer the question

I'm pulling an embedded data variable into a results table in the Reports section. It's a date field (YYYY-MM-DD) created through Javascript (based on a text field in the survey) and the time information is meaningless. Does anyone know how I can remove the time information either from the results table or the variable entirely?

Hello,I have the CSS code to help me increase the matrix table text box height and width. I am however looking for a way to text wrap and start the text in the top line of the box (not the middle of the box which seems to be default). Can anyone help me with the css code to help with this please? Thanks in advance.

Hello!I have 2 dates that will be entered by the user, a starting date and an ending date. Currently, I am using flatpicker to set those up as month/year.What I would like to do is to "compare" the dates, and indicate if the ending date is before the starting date.I know that I can't do that in regular Qualtrics, so I did put together a little Javascript code to do that. I am a Javascript newbie, so please forgive my coding practice.      function dateproduce(x) {   const myArray1 = x.split(".")   var y1 = myArray1[1];         var m1 = myArray1[0]-1;         if(m1==-1) {   m1 = 12;   y1 = y1 - 1; }      var dt1 = new Date(y1,m1);   return dt1;      }      var st = "1.2020";      let dta1 = dateproduce(st);      document.write(dta1);      var et = "1.2021";      let dta2 = dateproduce(et);      if(dta2 < dta1)   document.write("incorrect date");      else   document.write("correct date");```So essentially, I would like to put this in my question, but I don't know how to get the varia

Hello,I have a form field question where I've used JS to create a dropdown menu for the last two options. The options have the same available responses (clinical sciences, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, etc.). If a user chooses clinical sciences as their primary department, is JS to prevent the user from selecting clinical sciences as their secondary department?

Hi all, Really need help with adjusting JS code for incorporating sentences from loop and merge to the "edit this highlight text" part of the highlight question. Cannot find a way to make it work. Thanks for the help!

Dear community,I am fairly new to using Java in Qualtrics. For one of our current experiments, we want to present participants with math problems, and have them write the answer in a text field. We want them to be able to display the correct answer by clicking 'Space', but still be able to write their own answer. We also want to record whether they clicked on 'Space' or not. I've looked for similar questions on the forum, and found some codes that seems to allow me to display the answer upon keyboard entry, specifically with 'Enter', but I have not been able to get it to work with 'Space'. I also don't know how to make sure that the keyboard entry is recorded as a response.Would appreciate any help with this!Best,SimenQualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function() {           jQuery("#"+this.questionId).hide();}); Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function() {   document.on("keydown", function(e) {       if (e.keyCode === 32) $("#"+this.questionId).show();                       });});

Hi, I am new to Qualtrics platform. I have added the "authenticator" function in my survey flow and disabled the function of "Allow authenticating respondents to retake authenticated section", however I couldn't any text box to customize the error message (instead of displaying the default message: "you have already completed this survey") when the respondent attempts to retake the survey. Appreciate if anyone can help with this :)

HiI'm trying to change the wording for the constant sum row of my matrix table using the addOnload function. I have the below, but it's now working. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm new to Javascript!Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){ jQuery("label[for="+this.questionId+"_Total]").html("Total like-for-like in-store income*(£)")});Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){ /*Place your JavaScript here to run when the page is fully displayed*/});Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnUnload(function(){ /*Place your JavaScript here to run when the page is unloaded*/});Thanks

Hello Community, I'm working with side by side question and I'm trying to remove the the extra lines (borders) of the top table header. Thank you!

Does anyone have javascript to add horizontal divider lines between statements in a matrix?

Hi! Pardon me if this has been asked before. I perused the forums and didn't find anything. I've launched an intercept survey on our website using Website/App Feedback. The intercept is using JavaScript to embed a multi-value variable, which I'm passing into the survey in the survey flow. For the sake of explanation, let's say this variable is fruit, and fruit can have one or more values. I am wanting to create a new variable that counts how many fruits are embedded in each response. Let's call it fruit_count. So, if for a given response fruit = "orange", fruit_count should equal 1. If fruit = 'banana, strawberry', fruit_count should equal 2, and so on. Does anyone know a way to achieve this? The field editor in the Data Analysis tab looked promising, but was a dead end. Thanks! Grateful for the support in this community.

Hi, I have Javascript on a Form Field question to have a dollar sign before it: Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){ /*Place your JavaScript here to run when the page loads*/  jQuery('.InputText').before("$");});Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){ /*Place your JavaScript here to run when the page is fully displayed*/});Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnUnload(function(){ /*Place your JavaScript here to run when the page is unloaded*/});The problem is that the dollar sign is showing up on other questions on this page. Is there a way to have the Javascript only on this one question it's supposed to be on? I have tried with  jQuery("#"+this.questionId+".InputText").before("$");but I am not well versed in Java and think this is wrong because it does not work 😅

Hi all, I have a constant sum matrix type where each box needs to have a number between 0 and 100. Additionally, I want to remove the prefilled zeroes and have blank spaces instead. I use the following code to remove the prefilled zeroes Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){jQuery("#"+this.questionId+ "td input[type=text]").val("");});and I use custom validation with "greater than or equal to 0" and "less than or equal to 100" in each box. The problem is that if only one of the many boxes does not satisfy the condition, ALL the boxes become blank, so you need to start again. Is there a way, in which you get the error message and you are not allowed to pass to the next question, BUT none of the answers, or only the answers that do not satisfy the condition, are deleted? Thanks!

Hi all, I am trying to add labels or questions for each row. Similar to the example below.Any suggestion on how I can do something like that? I already looked at Matrix table where it looks like something below, but I would want the question on the side along with the number scale.Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!!

I have auto advance enabled for the whole survey using the following.Look and Feel -> Motion -> Auto Advance on Questions and Auto Advance on Pages.I would like to disable Auto Advance for specific questions or blocks on the survey. Is there a way to achieve this with settings or custom JavaScript?
