Hi all, I'm currently trying to record text data with custom javascript. I have hole text that I ask my participant to fill. Once, the participant has finish I want that when he/she clicks on a submit button the text data are recorded. From what I saw in the Qualtric documentation, there is the possibility to use the addEmbeddedData ( ) function. So what I did is the following: 1) I created an Embedded Data in the Survey Flow with the column 'data', 'rep1', 'rep2', 'rep3', 'rep4', 'rep5', 'rep6', 'rep7', 'rep8', 'rep9', 'rep10' all of String type. 2) To test that my data are actually recorded, I added the below code. When the page load, there is an automatic insertion of some text values in the corresponding columns: Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){ Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addEmbeddedData ( 'data' , 'test' ) Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addEmbeddedData ( 'rep1' , 'tellement' ) Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addEmbeddedData ( 'rep2' , 'fantastique' ) Qualtr

Hi, I am currently setting up a survey in Qualtrics. For any matrix in the mobile view, all items of the matrix except the last one are responding when an answer is selected by closing down (see screenshot below). However, this does not work with the last item of a matrix. Is there any way to make the last item behave like all the other items in the matrix? Screenshot 1: Desired behavior (items in the matrix close after an answer was selected)Screenshot 2: Undesired behavior (the last item of a matrix does not close after an answer was selected)I appreciate any help and thank you in advance for your efforts!

Could someone guide me with the CSS/Javascript code and the place to put it to do so?

Dear Community,Would be great if someone could advise on the following. I searched though the community, but could no find a solution for this issue. What we would like to achieve/ Why is there a need to delay:I would need to delay the redirect to a custom URL by two to three seconds at the end of the survey, but can not achieve this with the "Customize End of Survey". So I guess, I would need to the it via JavaScript in the End of Message? The delay is needed given we connect Qualtrics via the API to another SaaS solution, where respondents will see an evaluation of their survey results. The Qualtrics API push + data pipeline on the middle-layer takes some time, so the data is not yet available at the other end if the respondents get redirected immediately, thus the need for a delayed redirect. The URL needs to be customized for each respondent by including embedded data. It has the following structure: http://externalurl.com/?key=${e://Field/resonedent_id}&token=${e://Field/respondent_

Hello!I'm designing a survey in which I wish to collect the exact number of times a participant presses the Space bar (or possibly another key on the keyboard) while watching a video clip. That is, participants are asked to press the key as many times as they wish, and the number of presses is my main outcome variable. It is therefore important that the number of recorded presses corresponds to the actual number they pressed the key. Some participants will do this experiment on their home computer so this needs to work on multiple browsers. For a previous in-lab experiment we simply added a text-entry field, hidden to participants, as a separate question under the video. Using some code, we collected the number of Space bar presses made by participants. In order to make sure that if a participant lingered on a key, we changed the preferences on the computer itself to make sure that one press could only result in one character, no matter the time a person pressed a key. This worked for

I have a question where I have three choice groups. Is there a way I can randomize the answers within choice groups as well as the actual choice groups?

Hi all, I have a slider question whose min is 0 and max is 14.5. I want to have grids at integer numbers only (so at 1, 2, ..., 13, and 14). This means all grids correspond to 1 point increase except the last one which is 0.5 point increase (from 14 to 14.5). How can I make this happen?I tried to add 29 grids and then use a JS code to hide all grids on half points, but the qualtrics does not let me add 29 grids to begin with. Alternatively if there is a way put grids at specific number, that can work too. Thanks!

I would like to present an audio clip (wav format, stored in my personal Files Library on Qualtrics) that plays immediately upon loading the page, and then have the page automatically advance after an additional delay of 500 milliseconds. I have been using the following code, but there are two problems: one is that the audio clip will play multiple times overlapping with itself, and two is that the survey will advance too early. Any help would be appreciated.Here is the code I'm using, in the addOnReady() portion of the Javascript:const audio = new Audio("LINK_TO_AUDIO_CLIP");audio.play();var delay_length = (audio.duration * 1000) + 500; //duration is given in seconds, convert to mssetTimeout(function () {    jQuery("#NextButton").click();  }, delay_length);

I am trying to see the class definition and have no idea how to find it. I remember seeing it somewhere before, but can't find it again. Would appreciate any help.

Hello, I have the name and surname in capital letters in my directory and when I personalize the email I would like to use this data but in small letters. How could I?Thanks!

I am running a study where participants need to watch a video while simultaneously completing a motor tapping task where they just have to continuously press 4 keys until the video finishes. For example, they have to press, "C", "B", "V", and "N" continuously in that sequence. Is there a way to figure out whether Qualtrics can collect information on which keys the participants are pressing or if they pressed the correct keys in that same sequence? I am very new to Qualtrics and haven't found any information that is helpful.

I've added default text to a text entry field that is based on a single select field on the previous page S${e://Field/siteCode}/If the user goes back and edits the single select field response then the default text field is not getting updated - how do I achieve this so it always updates?

I have a problem with data. The first and last names that are loaded in Qualtrics are all capital letters. Unfortunately, I have no way to act on this data before its Qualtrics integration. When I contact my clients by email, it therefore displays "Hello RYAN SMITH !" while I would prefer "Hello Ryan Smith !".So I try to get by with CSS and what seems to work on the screen when I prepare my mail, no longer works when I receive the message. This is what i did :.test { text-transform: lowercase;display: inline-block;}.test::first-line { text-transform: capitalize;}Hello ${m://firstname} ${m://lastname} !And when I receive the email it unfortunately displays "hello ryan smith !" without capital letters.Could someone help me with this method or another? thank you!

I have a multiple choice drop down field of site (Bath, Birmingham, Cardiff etc.)In the same block as the next question I have a text entry field of participant ID. This is always in the format of S/nnn (where Bath site_code is 01 so S01/nnn)Is it possible to pre-populate the participant ID text feild with the S/ part dependent on what site is selected in the previous drop down field?I believe I could do it by putting the site in a different block and then creating embedded data that can be piped in as a default response but wondered if there's a way of doing it so I don't have to break up the block?

Hi,I would like to hide a block if people insert some specific words in a text entry. For example if they insert the words "apple", "banana", and "pear" they will face the block otherwise this block will be hidden, if they insert some other words they will go through the survey. I know that I can do it using the survey flow and the embedded data, but this is a simpler version of what I need to do, and I can only do it using Java. Can you help me, please? Thank you!

I am trying to record the number of times that the prompt that’s displayed if the respondent fails to answer a question pops up. I want to measure the number of times each prompt (for blank or unusual answer) is displayed for every screen.  Can this be done with custom code, or is this feature not available in Qualtrics?Thx!

Hi,I am trying to edit the font used in this code: jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" td.c1:first").html("Proposal Priority")I tried putting ".css(font-size: 16px)" but the error says "Invalid javascript! You cannot save until you fix all errors: Unexpected token ILLEGAL."Could someone please help me with fixing the code OR how to edit the font in that code? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I currently have a survey set up where participants are matched in groups of three. After they are matched they are shown a next button that takes them to the next block. However I would like to remove the next button and simply have them advance to the next block automatically. Below is the script I am trying to edit to get this done.function attemptMatch() { setTimeout(function () { makeRequest(); console.log("Attempt = " + attemptCount + " | Status = " + status); if (attemptCount == maxWaitTime) {timeOut = "yes";} if (status == "matched" && attemptCount >= freezeTime){ console.log("End MATCH"); if (bots.length < 1){ console.log("Matched with other participant(s)"); if (matchAlert == 1) { updateAlert(); // alert("Successfully matched!"); } if (Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.getEmbeddedData("groupSize") == 2){ infoBox.innerHTML = "You have been successfully matched with another participant."; } else{ infoBox.innerHTML = "You have been succ

Hi,I have a hidden question that randomly shows 5 out of 70+ choices. How can I display/pipe the first and second displayed choices on the next question? ${q://QID76/ChoiceGroup/DisplayedChoices} displays an array of displayed choices. I tried displaying one of the displayed choices using an index, but it doesn't work.

Hello! I am looking for help in creating JavaScript code that allows me to disable the abilities to (1) drag the marker on the Slider question type and (2) to click on the band to select a score on the Slider question type. I have written code that creates arrows that go underneath the slider. Ideally, respondents would use the arrows to move the marker to choose a score. However, this new code still allows for respondents to drag the marker / point and select a score. This disincentivizes respondents from using the arrows. I would like to add code so that respondents can only press the arrows to move the markers. Any help would be great! I have included an image of how the marker moves when the arrows are used.

Hello everyone, As per screenshot below, I am trying to set up a 5 point Likert scale, but the options are quite lengthy. So, I've increase the width of the SkinInner to 80% using the following CSS code and the options are now wider..Skin, .SkinInner {width:80% !important;}However, the left margin is inferior to the right margin. Ideally, I'd like the whole survey interface to sit in the middle of the page if it makes sense? So aligned to the centre? Anyone has any idea? Thank you so much!Andrea

Hello! I have JavaScript code that allows me to change the slider question type to use two arrows underneath the slider to move the marker when assigning ratings. However, I would like to disable the ability to move the marker by clicking it with your mouse and then dragging it because this discourages the use of the arrows. Any ideas on code that could help? Any help would be great!

Hi, I'm new here. I've seen that people use jQuery("#"+this.questionId).hide() to call and hide a question but how can i hide an option of the question? Thanks in advance.
