Custom Code

Hi everyone, For a research study, I would like participants to allocate 100 tokens among two recipients. Each token is worth $5. In a simple version of the question, I managed to have a javascript code, such that when participants entered the token allocations (e.g., 50/50), they would automatically see the implied $ amount ($250/$250). To make the question more appealing and intuitive, I would like participants to move slider bars indicating the token allocations (instead of entering the desired amounts). While participants adjust the sliders to decide how many tokens to allocate, I would like the text on the screen to also adjust and display the implied $ amount. Searching online I found this link (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/29538632/in-qualtrics-how-to-dynamically-connect-two-sliders) to add two connected sliders to my question. I've added it to my question. The problem is that I can't manage to change the javascript code such that, when the participant moves the

Hello everyone, I have a matrix table question with the 'request response' option selected in my survey. I need to keep the 'request response' option selected, however I would like to highlight any unanswered statements before the user moves on to the next question just in case any statements have been missed unintentionally. I was wondering whether there is a way to highlight any unanswered statements in a matrix table but only after the user has clicked next / tried to move on to the next question?Any help surrounding this would be really appreciated, thanks!

Hi I'm using this code (which I got from this post: to add a heading to the first column of a matrix table in qualtrics: var $jq = jQuery.noConflict();$jq('.Headings .c1').html('Utility');This works well, but it adds to the heading of every question on the page, is there a way to change it to just add it to the one question?

Hi,I am new to qualtrics and have created a page in survey which has 3D flip-cards displayed for the respondent to hover over each card for more information. I am trying to capture the time spent on each card (i.e. while the respondent hovers over the card and the backside of the card is displayer) How can this be done with Java script and is there a way to record time spent for each of the element separately? Any help/suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you.

My drop down menu items are appearing grey on white background which makes the options difficult to read. Is there any way to fix this? Picture attached. !

Hello!Is it possible to reposition the scale points in a slider question? I'd want to move it below the actual slider, rather than above it. I tried the following code in the "Slider" question's js(OnReady) function, but it did not work.jQuery("ul.labels").insertAfter("div.slider-container:last");

Have done a lot of searching around this, but have yet to find an answer that works for my situation. I have a single select question (7 choices). For one of the choices I would like to make it so that it is NOT selectable - and specifically I would like to hide the radio button. So I do want them to see the text of the choice, but not see a radio button. What would be the best way to do this and what would that code look like? Would it be JAVA for the question, or HTML within the response choice? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! I am trying to add calendar picker and a time selector (HH:MM: AM or PM to select) in a matrix style question. The following code works well in a form field question:jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" .InputText.Text").flatpickr({  dateFormat: "M, j Y"});In the text box for the calendar, I added a few lines of code in the JavaScript editor, but when tested, it shows a specific date (7/19/2022). Not sure why, but that's what's happening. What am I doing wrong? Also need help with the code for a date selector (using a text field in a matrix question).Thanks in advance.

Hello, There is an embedded data that I am outputting in a Text/Graphic box and in the question. For ease of reading, I would like to format this as a currency - or at the very least with thousand comma separators. What would be the best way of handling this? I've looked around and couldn't find any code samples on this (most of the code samples involved formatting input fields, not embedded data).

Our team have a number of different surveys that we are trying to combine, and I would like to display these in a table of contents. However, several of these surveys involve multiple blocks, but I don't want all of these blocks to display individually on the TOC. Unfortunately, these blocks involve Loops & Merges so can't be combined into one (which would be the simplest solution to prevent them from displaying...) Does anyone on here have a way of hiding specific blocks from the TOC? Perhaps based on the block names? We could change the block names to include a specific phrase to easily identify which blocks to leave out, if this would be possible. I'm not familiar with java script or other coding languages to be able to write this, so would appreciate some help! Someone else had written code to hide incomplete blocks - perhaps this could be adapted to hide blocks based on a different criteria instead? <script type="text/javascript"> Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(funct

Dear XM community,We are trying to display a statement dynamically based on click of a radio button in a Likert matrix.For example, if someone clicks "yes" for a statement, it should show an additional statement in the matrix, but if they click no it should turn off the display for the additional statement. This should happen dynamically to the radio button click action without needing to click the next button.Could you provide the example code to accomplish this?Thank you and kind regards,Nagesh

Hi Qualtrics community,I currently have a survey with 32 separate questions corresponding to 32 statements that need to be rated between 1 and 5 by respondents. I would like to add a section to comment only on the 3 highest rated statements. However I'm struggling to understand how to set-up this display logic as it doesn't seem I can put a condition that encompasses several questions. Do you know how I could proceed?Thanks a for the help,

Hello, I would like to know if there is any way to create a loop to add several choices to a multiple choice question. Thank you!

I am trying to add a banner that appears after a quota is met at the top of my first page of survey. I want this 'question' to be bordered. And only this question. I found from this post (https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/871/is-it-possible-to-put-a-frame-around-a-question) that frames everything on the page. I found from this other post (https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/16190/framing-a-single-question-with-a-border-im-using-css-but-it-adds-a-frame-to-every-question) supposedly code to make it only border the one question. So what I have tried is a few variations. None of them work. No border, not even for all questions. These are all at the top of the "HTML view" of the desired question (which is QID27) div#QID27.QuestionOuter.BorderColor {border: solid #ededed;} div#QID27.QuestionOuter.BorderColor.MC.QID27 {border: solid #ededed;} div#QID27.QuestionOuter.BorderColor.MC.QID27 {border: solid #ededed;}

I'm trying to use the following CSS to frame just 1 question on the page, and I'm adding it in that particular question's HTML view editor:div.Inner.BorderColor {border: solid #ededed;}But it addes a frame around every question on that page.How can I modify this code so that it only applies to the 1st question?

Hi All -- I am writing a multiple choice question where people will tell me which of three messages they prefer. I have a bank of 30 messages which fall into three themes (10 messages per theme) and what I am really trying to understand is which message theme people prefer. What I would like to do is to create a series of questions where the set of three messages people are shown generated by selecting one randomly from the ten items in Theme 1, another randomly selected from the ten items in Theme 2, and a third randomly selected from the ten items in Theme 3. As it stands right now, advanced randomization within a question in qualtrics will let you randomize and pick from a single set of answer choices, but there is no way to say pick 3, one from each of these sets. Is there any chance that custom code could help me do what I want? Just writing lots of different questions and randomizing at that level doesn't work, since it would mean creating 10 x 10 x 10 permutations.

I need to remove blocks dynamically and using javascript code. Does anyone know how to remove a block by using javascript?Thanks!

I am a PhD student and would like to build a Q-sort in Qualtrics. Does anyone have advice?

Hi Experts!I am stuck with a slider question problem in my survey. I am looking for a solution where I want my sliders to be placed on the right hand side besides my respective statements which are on the left. Currently the sliders are below each statement. I want to change this view for the slider questions. Any form of help is appreciated.Thanks in advance!

I am trying to set up a Qualtrics survey with a Drill Down question. In the first dropdown the user chooses an instructor, then the second dropdown populates with the courses offered by the chosen instructor. What I need to do is loop through all of the courses that are populated in the second dropdown (not just selected courses, all courses) in order to present a question for each course. For example, in the below screenshot, the user would click next and then the survey would loop and ask questions about World Literature, American Literature, and English. When answers have been given for each course the survey is complete. ! I suspected it was an issue with Qualtrics being unable to loop over a specific Drill Down dropdown, so I have attempted to pipe all courses for a chosen instructor to a separate question (see code below), then loop over that. This doesn't work as Qualtrics doesn't seem to be able to loop over a dynamically generated dropdown list. Also, manually adding displa

Hello,I would like help on applying css to a multi response question that is aligned in columns. I have basic skills when it comes to css and currently have css applied in the look and feel tab for all questions, which currently works for all, however, when I align a multi response into columns it wont pick up the style. Hello there, I have tried using the following additions to my HTML code to autoplay short youtube videos &autoplay=1 and ?autoplay=1Neither of them are working. Can someone please advise? TIA!

Is there a way to export a written response to a Text Entry question as a count of listed items/word count?For example, if my prompt was "list all of the vegetables that you like," and my respondent answered "carrots, broccoli, green beans, asparagus," I would want this to export as "4" instead of the list of vegetables. I am still in the process of formulating the question, so I could instruct respondents to separate items with commas, periods, etc., if that would help at all. I plan to export to SPSS.
