Qualtrics API

I’ve a matrix question with the variation configuration stated in the question title. In the UI the question looks like this:From the question object it seems like I can uniquely identify rows via choices (correspond to the 9 rows):However I could not get any info about how I can uniquely identify single cells (row + column) using the QX API. It’s pretty similar to the question type “side-by-side” where I have the same challenge: Does the QX API provide some functionality which allows it to uniquely identify single UI elements?Is there some generically working workaround for a possible lack of QX API support?

I want to create a workflow where an external server sends a request to change a property of a survey participant response. Based on this we want to trigger the sending of an email with a personalized gift code. If I understand correctly I could use the API key to send a POST request to update a field. The payload would look something like: {‘responseId’ : ‘xxxxxxxxxxx’, ‘activated’: True} I have two questions:1. How to make this request from a party that is not trusted with sensitive user data. One way would be for the third party server to have write only access, but I have not figured out how to do that.2. (Even more basically) How to correctly update a record with incoming information and trigger the sending of a personalized email based on an external POST request. Thank you so much

Not 100% if this is the appropriate forum for this question, so my apologies if this was misplaced. I have a survey that has multiple choice questions, and some options allow for text entry (e.g., Other). One of these questions asks what 'other' services folks use. The question states that folks should separate services with a semi-colon (e.g., SPSS; Stata). Does anyone know how/if it's possible to splice the text within this box to dig deeper on those responses in later questions? For example, I want to pipe text into a further question assessing their needs/uses for those services from that text response (e.g., To what extent do you use SPSS?). Thanks!

Hello, I am looking for some help. I want to integrate C# code to pull down all the responses in a survey into an SSIS package.  If anyone has an example of pulling down response via C#, I could maybe figure out the rest on my own, but even better is if someone has an example of code in C# to put into SSIS that i could use as an example.  Thanks a bunch,Ryan

It is said in Qualtrics description of Timing Question, metrics like Page Submit will be additive if the respondent is viewing the page multiple times, by exiting and reopening the survey. It is true when I tested it using Safari; However, when I tested in Chrome, metrics Page Submit only recorded the time I spent on the page after I reopened the survey, but the time I spent before I closed the survey was not recorded. Also, using Chrome, if I made some choices on the page, and I closed the window before the I hit the submit button. Then when I reopened the link, it brought me to the page where I was left, but the choices I made on the page before were gone. This is not the case using Safari. The choices I left on the page were still there if I closed the window and reopened the link. Why?

With the QX API I could not figure out a way to distinguish “text entry” question type variant single line vs. multi line so far. The question object was not helping as well so far. runtime contains the question type (Type: “TE”) but nothing about the question variant.

Hi All,Iv got a problem inserting embedded data to completed surveys.I have a survey which has got few responses missing embedded data like TagShowDate    screenOut    TagCountry    TagCity    CustomerID    TagExpType    TagAgeThese values are missing due to an internal reason.I have a seperate .csv file with response ID and all the above embedded data. How will I update or insert the data in my csv to the completes responses?Is there a way without using API?If API is the only way can you guide some deep insight on how to do it as I dont have nothing related to API? PS: The leads are not in directory. The survey is through anonymised link. The customer ID was passed through query string url. Thanks a millionPraveen

I have successfully retrieved data in a BASH shell to access the Qualtrics survey using the API.  But I’m not able to get this to work in Matlab (my preference since I’ll manipulate the data there).  Has anyone been successful in using Matlab for retrieving data from Qualtrics?

Hi All,I have a excel master spreadsheet containing all user info and their meta data. To create new users (as in CX / vocalise dashboard users). We create a csv file with their name etc. and meta data eg. location, permissions etc which is then used via the auto enrolment function to add them to the correct groups / teams when they first login. This works fine but it would be good to remove this step and do this via API and include the metadata. Is this possible? I have read the Create User API documentation but it doesn't talk about metadata.ThanksRod Pestell

setEmbeddedData has it seems been deprecated.The API says use setJSEmbeddedData instead.This setJSEmbeddedData does not update the EmbeddedData.What am I doing wrong?The embedded data is before the question and after each question there is a page break and a block.Nothing updates the EmbeddedData?

I am using the provided Java code on the Getting Survey Responses Using New Export APIs page. I am using the correct token, survey id, and data center. When I run the program, I get only the first three header rows of the data file, with no survey responses (see partial screenshot below). (When I download directly from Qualtrics, all of the data is there.)Any help is much appreciated! I’m new to using these APIs and feeling desperate!! 

Hi folks, Im trying to validate the 10 digit number through external API. Scenario will be, Respondent enters a 10 digit number. This number should get validated from the external application whether the entered number is registered or not. If registered, respondent should go ahead else it should throws an erroor. Waiting for your replies.

Hello together, I am responsible for creating and maintaining the Qualtrics Accounts at my university. Sometimes people come to ask whether I can give them permission to collaborate with external people. To give them this feature I had to enable it for their division. But it should be not the default so I thought I could set the default (no permission) in the user type and enable it for individuals in their account. Unfortunately I cannot edit the standard user type (Standard - Qualtrics - no limits) and all the persons are grayed out. When creating a new user type I can change permissions. But this is not really an option as changing the user type for every existing user is too much work. Anyone has an idea on how to edit existing user types? 

I am looking to export survey response data from a survey that has over 10 million responses. Exporting out of the data & analysis into a CSV results in a file that is too big to import into the other survey (100MB max). Is there any way to make this process faster other than filtering and splitting the file into 100+ files so that they are under 100 MB? Could an API process make it faster?

Hi Experts,Hope you are doing well!!!I have two questions regarding import participants API call.First :Can we make more than 10 requests to import participants API in qualtrics? Because it’s written in qualtrics we can’t make.Second :In qualtrics Limits page, there is written that we can upload CSV file size upto 5 MBs, but while updating file it is supporting only 1000 records in a CSV file. Can you please explain why I can’t upload more than 1000 records where the file size in less than 1 MB.Thank you in Advance.

We have set scope "manage:surveys" and "read:surveys" to our Client ID through web interface. After this we generated the Bearer Token from API "https://iad1.qualtrics.com/API/v3/surveys", we are getting below error:       "httpStatus": "403 - Forbidden",       "error": {           "errorMessage": "insufficient_scope",           "errorCode": "AUTH_13.0"       }We are getting the same error for all API calls related to surveys.

We are toying with the idea of using Viva Adaptive Cards as an additional distribution channel for our enterprise surveys.  The individual cards should disappear after each employee has taken their survey but we are concerned about potential performance if we set the process up to work in near real-time.  We’re a bit gun-shy because IT took down Workday doing something similar for PTO cards. 😣  Nightly updating is acceptable, but more frequently would be ideal from a UX perspective.
