Add a line break in Javascript

Hello, I am trying to auto fill a text box in a question using Javascript. I want it to appear in a sequential format but I cannot seem to add a line break in the text I want to add. I tried using '\\n', '<'br'>' and '<'br/' >' but nothing is working. How can I accomplish this? Thanks

Set question score using Javascript/API

I am using JS to score questions in a Qualtrics survey. Each question has 4 choices (radio buttons). The student gets to select as many of these as they want, but their score is lowered by 1 for each wrong choice. What I'm having trouble with is pushing this final score into the survey. The API has a setChoiceAnswerValue() function, but I can't find any examples of this in use (even after a Google search). Has anyone done this, and if so, how? Thanks.

Hi! My survey flow begins with a Randomizer. How can I add “a CONSENT form” and also “an introduction” to the beginning of my survey?

How do I change the hover and actively selected choice colors on NPS questions

I have to preface this question with the fact that I am pretty new to Qualtrics and am still trying to discover/learn about all the CSS classes that correspond to the survey elements. With that being said, I am having a really hard time getting the actively selected answer choice to not hide the actual scale number above the radio button, which in this case is number 4 in the screenshot below. ! In an alternate version of this same survey, it does the same thing but also has a border that I can't seem to get rid of. ! I tried to leverage a Horizontal Multiple Choice question type as well, but I'm not sure how to move the "unlikely" and "very unlikely" choice titles outside of the scale number containers like how it's structured in NPS, and also not have it display vertically in mobile. I went ahead and attached the CSS im currently using for this survey. Can anyone please help?

How to embed 3 URLs to the survey and record 3 URL

INSERT THE THREE LANDING PAGE(three different URL s). RANDOMIZE SHOW 1 OF THREE URLs . WILL NEED N=33 COMPLETES WITH first PAGE, N=34 COMLETES WITH second PAGE, N=33 WITH third PAGE. SET THE QUOTA IF POSSIBLE.

How to use API in R (without using packages such as qualtRics)

Hi I used to use API v2 for some tasks with our contacts. Now I'm not sure how I should construct my calls in R after they upgraded to v3, the 'Try' button on their API page isn't even working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Helgi

Completing a fragmented word

Hi there, I want to ask my respondents to complete the word fragment such as "_ _ oker". In this case, they need to fill the first two characters to make it a complete word. For example, they can type "s" in the first blank and "m" in the second to make it "smoker". How can I design this kind of question in Qualtrics? Shery

How can I have a matrix table question display additional rows based on user interaction?

Hi all! I have a matrix table question for which I would like the user to be able to specify and respond to additional "Other" choices. I'd prefer to only have one row with a blank "Other" text box statement visible at a time. For (a silly) example: Mark how many hours you spend in each room in your house: * Kitchen * Living room * Bathroom * Other (please explain) ________ * Other (please explain) ________ * Other (please explain) ________ etc., where each "Other" option would only appear once the previous "Other" option has been filled in. I tried adding display logic to the additional "Other" statements (to be displayed if the previous "Other" text entry "is not empty"), but the statements don't show up. Is there a way to do this built into Qualtrics (or any other way to achieve this)? Thanks in advance!

Customizing a Piped Response

I want to pipe a response from a question (like the one below) into a follow-up question, but am hitting a snag with formatting. > Thinking about the next six months, how likely are you to attend one of our events? > Very likely > Somewhat likely > Neither likely or unlikely > Somewhat unlikely > Very unlikely Because each response option is capitalized, the piped text (bolded below) appears in the follow-up question like this: > You indicated that you would be Very likely to attend one of our events in the next six months. Why is that? > Aside from making all the response options in the first question lowercase to begin with, is there a way to reformat the piped text to appear lowercase instead? The ideal result would be: > You indicated that you would be very likely to attend one of our events in the next six months. Why is that?

Can I search users based on a feature (here, API enabled)?

Given that APIv3 is coming out in November, I want to send a message to all my users that are using the API. However, I don't want to send a message to all 10,000 users. In my brand, users don't have the API enabled by default. Everyone is provisioned as a standard Qualtrics user, and when someone wants the API, we go in to their account and check "enabled" on the API line. I want to search through all my users to find only those that have API enabled, so that I only email those people about the November change in API. The user search has User Type, but everyone is a Standard User. Is there a more fine grain search? Is there an API that I can use, perhaps I can write a quick Python program, to search for users in my brand that have the API enabled? Thanks!

Combining like responses from separate form fields into one field on CX Dashboard

I have a question on a product survey, asking respondents to identify up to 3 other providers they've used in the last year (see screenshot below). ! We don't want to list our competitors for our customers to choose from, but rather want them to enter the names of the competitors they've worked with. I'd like to group the responses across these fields into one field in the CX Dashboard. For example, if someone enters "ABC Company" in the first field (Company 1), and someone else lists "ABC Company" in the second field (Company 2), I want both of their responses to count against the value/label of "ABC Company". I haven't found a way to do this, and am hoping one of you will have a great solution! Thanks, Chris Lawton

How can I set up a single thank you message to be sent each time a respondent ends a survey?

Hi everyone, I would need to set an automatic thank you message to be sent every time a respondent concludes the survey. From the option available from Email Distribution, it looks that I can only set a time (e.g., now, in one hour) and then the email will be sent only to all the finished respondents at that time, excluding the ones that will complete the survey later. Since I am distributing the survey to a very large sample, I need to manage the thank you message distribution quicker. Is there any option to set up a single thank you message that will be sent each a firm ends the survey? Many thanks, Best wishes, Patrizia

Inline question does not work

Hi everybody, I am currently testing a mail with an inline question. The problem is the following: When I choose one of the options on the mail, the survey opens in a new page and restarts since the first question (the one you already answered in the email, with no choice selected). I expected the survey to start since the second question, having saved the results of the inline question. Am I making any mistake or is it the right functionality of the solution?

How to base an Email Trigger or Action on a calculation from responses in two different blocks...

... without losing Back button navigation within the survey? I have a survey where I need to perform a math operation using the numeric values from questions in two different blocks, in order to determine whether or not to send an email alert. The result of the math operation determines whether or not the respondent meets a threshold, and if not, then the email alert (via an Email Trigger or an Action) is sent to a staff member upon submission of the survey. I'm using Embedded Data in the Survey Flow and "setEmbeddedData" in Javascript to store the value of the operation. It works if the Embedded Data value is assigned in the middle of the survey, but the catch is that I can't put the Embedded Data element by the Blocks where the questions are located in the Survey Flow or at the end of the survey, because then I would lose the Back button at that point in the survey, and backward navigation is a requirement for this survey. I've tried assigning the variable for the result of the o

Showing Filter Information on Report

I have a monthly report that goes out to my end users that they are generally pleased with except for one thing - the report does not indicate the month of the data being presented. I have the filter set to Last Month and would like that information to show in the report heading but I can't find a field that will do this. I tried using the coding that pipes date information into surveys but that doesn't work. Is there something within the platform or some code I can enter that will let the month and year related to the filter appear? Thank you.

Fitting labels into one line in Text Entry Form question

I'd like to move the text boxes to the right in a Text Entry Form question so the labels are one line each. I don't want to shrink the font or anything, I want to just move the text boxes to the right. Is there a way to do this? Example of problem: !

Possible to assign participants to a specific block based on how the randomizer have assigned them?

Hi all! So for my study, I'm doing an 2 x 2 experiment with 4 conditions. Let's suppose the conditions are called as following: Condition 1= A Condition 2= AA Condition 3= B Condition 4= BB Condition 1 & 2 belong to the same category, and condition 3 & 4 as well. I want to assign participants randomly (and evenly) to either condition 1 or condition 3. However, based on that, I need to have the participants that are assigned to condition 1 to be answering the questions in condition 2 AFTER they finished all the questions in condition 1. The same goes for condition 3: I need participants to be assigned to condition 4 AFTER they finished the questions in condition 3. I was wondering if that's possible in Qualtrics through ''randomizer''? Because if I add all the 4 conditions in the randomizer, participants will be assigned randomly to 1 of the 4 conditions, which I don't want. I need to link A to AA, and B to BB, AFTER they finished the questions in the assigned condition. I hope

In my research, the participants are from 3 different categories. In one of the demographic questions, they will be asked to select their categories. How can I see how many participants from the three different categories have completed the survey, during the data collection?

Hi, I used query strings to create embedded data with anonymous links before. Now I try to do the same with personalized links I have to provide our communication agency who executes the email blast. How to group multiple choices in Multiple Choice question?

Hi, Qualtrics community We have a list of options for subjects to select from. I use Multiple Choice question-->Multiple Answers. But I want to group the options and make subjects select more than one options. I tried to add groups and assign options to different groups. But I found that the layout can only be verticle. I think the list of options is too long and want to use matrix layout. How can I do that? Here is a picture which depicts how I want to design the layout of the questions. Could anyone help me? Is there a pool of test-videos available? I've been told there is but can't find it.

My team is looking for a video that tests whether or not the participants' browser settings are appropriately configured to allow for video viewing. Our group ran into an issue where a browser (e.g. Firefox) wasn't properly playing videos, which we'd like to identify/prevent by using a test video.
