I ask respondents to type a list of names into a multi-item textbox. I want to be able to pipe each name separately into later parts of the survey.

How to extract parts of embedded data field and save as new variable?

Hello, I am using the embedded data field "Q_URL", which stores the URL that the respondent used to participate in the survey, to monitor how many respondents I have for each target group (each target has its own url). The url contains hundreds of letters and digits, but in my link I am only interested in the last 6 digits in the URL. Is there a way to extract the last 6 digits of the Q_URL into a new variable in Qualtrics?Thanks,Timmy

How to randomize the order of the items when using "Pick, Group, and Rank"

I'm designing a survey that utilize the question template "Pick, Group, and Rank". Each question contains 54 items need to be sorted into nine catogories. To mitigate the effect of the order of the items, it is better to ranomize the item order. Does anyone know how to implement this kind of randomization? Thanks a lot in advance!!!

How do I randomize a participant to the same condition for two separate question blocks in a survey?

I am creating a survey where participants are going to be randomized twice to one of three conditions to view a set of images based on their answer to a demographic question at the beginning of the survey. They view the set of Instagram posts once at the start of the survey, then are asked to do an activity and answer some questions. Then they need to view the same set of images again, but this time with questions after each post. How do I make sure that a participant is viewing the same set of posts for both question blocks?

Loop and merge pairing identical images

Hello, I am currently constructing a survey that has a loop & merge block. In field one, I have images of people I have manipulated to be overweight. In field two, I have images of people I have manipulated to be slimmer. The point of this survey is to randomise these faces so the respondent sees a chubby and a skinny person, views their CV (in field 3) and makes a choice about who they would hire for a job role.However, the loop and merge for fields 1 and 2 sometimes show the same person e.g. respondent sees the exact same face both chubby and skinny rather than 2 different people. The loop is set to randomise, but on a run through I just had 7 separate questions with the same person in each image, defeating the whole point of the survey.Can anyone offer me any help in fixing this issue?

Retake Response: Some questions Read-Only? JavaScript?

I am trying to have a retake link where some of the questions and selected answers can be viewed but not edited.I know how to skip questions completely in the retake, and I can show or hide questions based on the retake link. But I cannot figure out how to in the retake link show some of the questions and selected answers, but read-only. I think it's possible with javascript but I have all sorts of question types - multiple choice, text entry, dropdown, file upload.For example, imagine that a student takes a test in Qualtrics, and the professor is reviewing that test and putting comments in a new text entry question at the bottom for students. I don't want the professor to accidentally change any of the students' answers. - (Please note that this is just an example scenario to get the idea across).Thanks!

Upgrading as an Existing User with access code

Hello,I have an existing free account associated with my university email address. Recently my university has purchased licences for all students and now I am trying to upgrade my account using the code I received from my university. I followed the instruction for upgrading as an exiting user, but the menu I see is different - no "upgrade account" option under the account setting (see screenshot attached) . I would appreciate your help on how I can use the code to upgrade my accountThanks!

Can one survey record be completed be several respondents?

I am hoping that someone might have a solution to a tricky situation we currently have.The scenario is that we are collecting feedback about student placements where several individuals need to answer questions and be able to see the data added by those earlier in the 'chain'. Ideally all data completed by the three individuals would be in the same record, but that might be a bit of a long shot.In more detailFirst section of the survey - there are a number of questions the student themselves needs to complete.They then enter the email address of their placement supervisor and Qualtrics picks up that email and sends onto that person the partially completed survey with the students responses for the supervisor to complete their questions.  When the supervisor has completed their section then it goes to a Admin person who needs to see the responses of both of the student and supervisor and add some further data of their own before submitting the final record.Is there any way that this can

Loop and Merge

I have a little introduction statement at the beginning of my loop and merge block. I want it to only show the first loop and not the second loop. I can't figure out which display logic I need to use to only get it to show the first loop. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am trying to use Loop & Merge but I want to eliminate one of the options because I have a more detailed followup question. Is there a way to use the Loop & Merge feature but select only some of the options to use from the question?

Informed Consent: 'scroll' option and e-signature/e-id?

Hello everyone,For our research, we bumped into two Qualtrics issues that I am not immediately able to solve. Could anyone help us out with the following?For our research we have a rather long informed consent (10 pages or so), hence it is not possible to include this in a text box as suggested by Qualtrics. I have in my mind the option for participants to see the informed consent in a textbox, in which participants can scroll down to go through everything and then agree on it. Does that possibility exist or do you have any recommendations on this issue?Does Qualtrics provide the opportunity to do an ID check, via e-ID or itsme®? I see their is a signature option, but I have no permission for this feature on the account of our university... What would be your advice?Thanks a lot!Kind regards, Anke

Authenticators and direct click links - possible?

Hello - I get asked this a lot and have been re-reading the help files in Qualtrics.Is it possible to use PINs to access the survey but also distribute via a direct-click email link? Here is the example scenario:Survey of 50 respondents we have email addresses for 35 and physical addresses for all 50Going to email the full contact list using the dedicated URLGoing to send physical mail (postcards) with a short URL and PIN. Going to the URL will take people to the Qualtrics survey.Qualtrics survey will be set up with an authenticator so the respondent can type in a PINMy main question is if this is even possible? If someone completes the survey using the PIN entry (authenticator) we would want it to lock them out of the email URL and vice-versa so they aren't taking it multiple times.Hope the above makes sense! I plan on trying this out at some point this week but was looking to see if anyone has done it before.Regards!

Setting up personalised links when distributing to different organisations

Hello everyone,I would like to ask for some suggestions as I am planning to distribute my survey into 5 different organisations. Each organisation have their own sets of participants. How can I omit one word when I translate comments?

I recive comments in Spanish, Portugues and Inglish and I translate all in to English to be analyzed in the text IQ. The thing is that for example my brand is called "Carros" and in some comments "carros" is been translated as "Cars". I need to omit the translation of the word Cars because it is my brand. So the Text IQ some times does´t work properly because the structure of the commen has change in a big senseIs it possible to omit the translation of a word?

Fixed Rounding 2 Decimal Places

I'm working on an order form. I have the rounding figured out; however, it drops the 0 if it's the final digit. I've tried searching for solutions and haven't been successful. Recommendations? An example would be helpful. I'm a visual learner and new to this level of Qualtrics.

Data issue - retrieve old data?

Hi everyone - hopefully someone has run into this before.We had a version published of a survey (rating question). The variable label was set to Q2. That version was published and it collected data. In the export, the variable was exporting as Q2_1.Months later someone changed the question type to a descriptive variable, Qualtrics saved the change as a draft (it was never published), and the user changed the question back to its original form as a rating question. The proper edits were made and the survey was published, data collection resumed.What we're noticing now is that Q2_1 no longer exists in the exported dataset but a new variable Q2_3 exists. We no longer have access to the original Q2_1 data.Does anyone know how to get Q2_1 back? We would like Q2_3 to go back to Q2_1 and restore all of the previous data and also keep the new data that's been collected.

Library reference survey block not in survey flow

Dear Qualtrics Community,I have added a survey from my library to an existing survey. I then added a randomizer to randomly display either the library survey or the remaining blocks of the already existing survey. I have attached a screenshot of the survey flow.My problem: For those blocks in the Survey from Library, the label 'Not in Survey Flow' appears. However, if i test run the entire survey from a link or preview, the randomization works as I intended it (i.e., all blocks with the 'Not in Survey Flow' appear). Is there something I might be missing? Even though the survey flow seems fine in practice, the labels do make me worry.Thank you in advance!

How can I see which block was assigned after data has been collected?

I have a survey and at the beginning the Survey Flow Randomizer randomly assigns and displays one of three priming blocks to each respondent. Each block only contains one "question" which is actually just a text box with a specific prime. When exporting the data, I would like to have a way of knowing which of these blocks was assigned to each respondent (i.e, a variable that indicates it). I realize a way to do this would be to use Embedded Data. However, the survey has been open for a while now and a lot of people have already answered, meaning that any changes I make to the survey would have no effect on the previous recorded answers.How can I see which block was assigned to each respondent, for all data that has already been collected? I have attached a screenshot of the relevant section of the survey flow.

Is it possible yet to import embedded data to an existing survey after the survey has closed?

My survey has closed. I have persona segmentation data on some of my respondents (an existing embedded data field pulled over from XM directory), but not all of them in my survey. I have an embedded data field called "Segmentation" and on the 190 responses that I did NOT previously have their segmentation label, I now have it. Does Qualtrics allow me to import this data and populate the field yet by email or Response ID? I am guessing not but wanted to check.Option 2: I have XM Directly and could upload the new segment data field over there, but historically this could not be pulled in posthumously once a survey is closed. Correct?Option 3: I go into edit mode in Data & Analysis and manually enter 190 segment updates. Not ideal and kind of a time suck. I suppose I could have had 15 done by the time it took me to type this up :-) Ideas anyone?

All people belonging to the same group should get the same computer generated ID

Good afternoon.For my master thesis, I want school teachers to answer my survey. In my country every school has a specific identification number, e.g. 48593745 or AX4586FG4.I want to know which teachers come from the same school (so they should enter their school identification number) so that I can analyze their data together, as a package. Now, for data protection purposes and to make sure the respondents stay anonymous, I am not allowed to see their school identification number, because that could identify special individuals. E.g. if somebody states he is principal, and obviously every school only has one principal, and I see the school ID, then I could look up who exactly the response came from. Thus, I want qualtrics to generate another number, when the school ID is entered and replace it with the original school ID.Everybody from the same school should be assigned the same generated number by qualtrics. At the same time, no teachers from different schools, are allowed to be ass
