Hello, I'm appending characters to a string embedded data element with .setEmbeddedData. The data element is updated many times before the Next button is clicked, and the repeated updates must, by necessity, remain on the same page. If I examine the element with .getEmbeddedData, the embedded data element appears to change each time it's incremented. But if the respondent does "save and continue" (or loses connectivity) before the next button is clicked, the incremented embedded data element seems to be lost. Is there a way to force embedded data to be saved WITHIN a page, as it would be after a page break or Next click? Thanks all! -Ted

I created a survey on Qualtrics a few weeks ago. In this survey, I put a link to download a text that the respondent must read and answer questions about it. But for the second step of this survey, I would like to generate a link to a text (preferably from a database, but if this is not possible, I can still manually add each text on qualtrics) that is randomly chosen. In addition, I would like there to be a good split between the random link so that the responses are well proportioned. In summary, if someone connects to my survey, he or she would receive a random text's link (from a database) but I need to know what text he or she received in order to conduct my analysis. In addition, I would like to have more or less the same number of responses for each text. Thank you for your help! Hello Collegaues, I would like to integrate Qualtrics with my product. Ideally integration between products can be done by below 2 approaches... 1. Create Subscription (or Web-Hook) : In Qualtrics we can create subscriptions by providing 'PublicationURL' for different events like activeSurvey, completedResponse etc. This PublicaionURL will receive payload (IDs, timestemp etc.) from Qualtrics once respective event is triggered. Using this IDs we have to call respective Qualtrics APIs and get the details. And than transform Qualtrics data into desired format and send it to the target system. 2. Write Custom Code In Qualtrics : Write custom code in the Qualtrics after specific event i.e. activeSurvey, completedResponse etc. triggered; transferm Qualtrics data in desired format and send it to the the target system. Approach-1 is working. Is Qualtrics is providing any mechanism to write Custom Code after specific events (Approach-2)? Best regards, Pragnesh

Hello Apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I've set up a theme in Look & Feel with Style/Primary Color as Orange. This makes the buttons orange, and the selected options orange, as required. However, when an option is selected, the background of the page changes to light orange. How do I stop this? I've tried uploading a white image as the background, which works, but now an orange border appears around the question when an option is selected instead, which isn't ideal!. Any ideas on how I keep the background as white when an option is selected (while still keeping the orange theme)? ! ! Thanks!

Hello Colleagues, I am able to download survey responses in zip file using Qualtrics API "Get Response Export File (New)". Is there any Qualtrics API available where I can retrieve 'single' survey response details using 'response id'? This way I can improve performance when 'Create Subscription' send me 'response_id' and I can ask for response details only for that 'response_id' only. Otherwise I have download all the survey responses in the zip file and retrieve response details for specific 'response_id' provided by 'Create Subscription'. Best regards, Pragnesh

Afternoon guys, I'm so frustrated with API calls and sick of trail and error to figure them out, so I thought I could start a thread as kind of a source-of-truth for API calls. I think the API documentation from Qualtrics is both great and weak at the same time. Attached are screenshots of an email I sent to Qualtrics Support a few months back after spending countless errors using trial and error, making a tiny changing, then scraping the call and using straight JS to fix the problem. I'd love to borrow some knowledge from you fine people! Hence, this post. I guess I'll start by giving some demonstrations of what I've discovered on my own and giving some questions I don't have answers to. I am working on mapping a volunteer liability release form survey on Qualtrics into Salesforce. Each volunteer's account is the university which they attend. On the release form, there is a multiple choice question with the university choices. I am wondering if there is a way to map these volunteers (all of whom are new contacts) to have the account of their University.

Create Qualtrics JavaScript multipart survey question: Need a simple proof-of-concept JavaScript item within a Qualtrics survey. We are evaluating how it handles multiple responses within an item. The user will select one of two displayed random numbers between 1-20. They will do this ten times. We need to collect the two displayed numbers and which one the user picked. Preferably we can submit each choice as a sub-response in a single survey item (as a separate column in the output report/spreadsheet/file). If not, we need to collect all responses into a single final response that is collapsed into a single column (not ideal). After the proof-of-concept is completed, we will move forward with multiple jobs that will be simple games that build on this work.

I'm trying to set up a survey where respondents complete a choice experiment in Sawtooth before being redirected to a survey in Qualtrics. I need to be able to link the two surveys with a response ID or unique identifier. How would I generate a qualtrics link that will send them to the survey with the unique identifier passed in?

We are about to launch a new version of our website and I'd like to set up a "tour" of the new home page highlighting the new features and navigational components. My idea would be to launch a popover with a "Next" and "Close" button. If the user selects Close the creative goes away not to be seen again. However, if the user click Next the next item we'd like to highlight will be displayed using a different creative on a different area of the screen. Does this sound possible? Hi everyone, I have a loop repeating n questions in random order for t times. The questions contain references to embedded fields. The embedded fields need to be changed in each iteration of the loop. The fields are not pre-populated. I use javascript in addOnload() to change the embedded field data. What happens is that in the first iteration of the loop the embedded fields are not set. In the second iteration the fields are set. It seems that addOnload() executes the setting of the embedded data only after the page loads (?). Pseudocode to illustrate For (t in times) { set embedded data field of question n_i display question n_i set embedded data field of question n_i + 1 display question n_1 + 1 ... } I cannot pre-populate the fields. I tried hiding the first loop iteration and using t+1 loop iterations, but this does not execude the code in iteratio no 1. Any recommendations? I am happy to use javascript directly witho

The checkmark icon is displayed in the Table of Contents when a block is completed. To disable it for all the blocks in the survey, I know I can use this script. jQuery(".TocIcon").css("display","none"); But I want to selectively disable the checkmark icon for few blocks (based on their block flow ID). Hi, I needed to create a survey that does the following: 1) People are provided with a list of 20 adjectives and they choose five that describe their parent. 2) In a future block, I would like the five adjectives they picked to be (randomly) inserted into a text passage describing a potential new friend. In a way, this resembles a mad lib, but instead of users generating content (https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/1984/mad-lib-fun), I want them to choose from a finite list of words and then have those words randomly inserted into a future text passage (and not the choices they didn't choose!). Any help would be greatly appreciated! I couldn't figure it out from the typical piped text/display options!

Hi all, I would like to recreate the look and feel of the NPS question type, but customize the response options and numeric labels. That is, a numeric scale with square buttons and text labels above the scale that is displayed horizontally on desktop and mobile. The easiest way to implement that would be to create a single-row matrix question, hiding the label columns (as discussed here). However, how would I be able to force the matrix question to use the square buttons, instead of the default radio buttons? I would like this: ! Instead of this: ! Hi! I have a sound file that my respondents need to hear before they can answer the question. The timing function can hide the "next button" until the respondent has had enough time to hear the sound file, but i use regions as both answer and as the "next button". Does anyone have an idea how i can fix this, so is it only possible for my respondents to click on the regions after a certain amount of time?

I want to use the X and Y coordinates of the where the user clicked last on a heat map. It doesn't look like I can simply refer to ${q://QID1/ChoiceNumericEntryValue/1/X}, so I guess I need some other way to capture this information. Thanks!

I created a button in the html editor and a function that is executed when it is pressed. This works, however, I would like to write the function in the java script editor, but when I write it there, it is ignored. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I would like to use java script to be able to do different things depending on where the person clicked on a Heat Map. I suppose I can do this using X and Y coordinates, but I'd rather use regions. Is there are way to refer to regions inside the survey? Thank you!

I would like the total sum of slider choices be displayed on the same page as the sliders. RIght now, a total is displayed when you force the slider choices to sum to some value. But I do not want that validation. How do you display the sum total of slider choices on the same page as the slider?

Hello, I want to add a counter which could count the number of sub-string "ab" and "ba". That is , participants type letters in a text bar, like "ababaaaabbbbba", and I want to count the number of "ab" or "ba" and show it on the screen on Qualtrics. In the example, there are 3 "ab" or "ba" in this string, so the he or she will see "3" on the screen. I will be appreciate if anyone can tell me how to write the Javascript.
