Create complex spreadsheet-like form which dynamic number of rows

I'm trying to create a form that allows users to seamlessly add information about each of the members that are on their team without resorting to a kludgy loop and merge over multiple pages. Here's what I'm envisioning: a participant is asked how many people are on their team. Based on this answer a spreadsheet-like data matrix is generated on the next page with the number of rows equal to the number of people on a given team. They can fill in the names of their teammates in one column, and they can answer questions about each member using dropboxes and sliding scales on other rows. Something like this: ! Is this possible in Qualtrics? What is the right way to go about implementing this?

How to restrict the number of times participants can play audio

Hello all! Does anyone know how to restrict the number of times participants can play audio attached to a question? I would like my participants to hear each fragment only once. However, I do not want to remove the play button and let the sound autoplay, because they should have some time to read the question before they play the sound fragment. I hope to hear from someone! Using embedded data in piped text code

Is it possible to use embedded data in piped text code? Specifically, I’m trying to choose which loop and merge column (not row) is used based on which response is picked in an earlier dropdown list. So, I’m trying to save the order number of their selection from the dropdown list (embedded data in Survey flow: selection = $e{ q://QID1/SelectedChoicesRecode + 1 }) and pipe that number into the loop and merge piped text code so that it selects the correct row when populating that part of my question (e.g., How often do you shop at ${lm://Field/selection}?). Is there a way to make this work?

Autoscroll page for Pick, group, rank question

Hello, I have a Pick, group, rank question that has about 20 items. It's extremely difficult to drag the item to the box because the page doesn't scroll down when you move the item. Stacking items is not an option because participants need to see all the items at once.... I think adding the CSS code is the only way but I don't know how I found an answer here with using the jQuery but I'm really lost... Would anyone please help? How do I build the code? how to I append it? Thank you!

How to create piped text in JavaScript and use its value?

Hello, I want to create piped in javascript and then use the value which is stored in the corresponding element/field in my script. I have tried to concatenate the required string using "+", but it doesn't work. Would anyone know how to solve this? Removing suggested videos work around

As I’m sure most people are aware, or if not then surprise, Youtube depreciated their rel=0 tag so you can’t easily remove suggested videos or loop it. I tried uploading it as a mp4 which got rid of the suggested videos but it also has prevented me from getting the video to loop back to the first frame and let the user view the video again or pause it.

Create one survey with two different data pools

We need to create a survey which consists of two parts. - Part1: Some questions about the website like how you like it. - Part2: A question like are you willing to support us in testing new featurs please provide us your name and e-mail. In case of GDPR we need to seperate the two parts. We don't want to know who in person (name, e-mail from part1) answered on the questions from part1. Any ideas?

Is there a way to build a feed to automatically update a drop down list?

I need an automated solution that will update a drop down list. Possibly from an Excel file or a contact list. I'm open to other ideas as well. However, I don't have the option to use a third party tool unless it's already behind our firewall. So that limits my options a bit. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Show html table attributes in csv file

Dear all, In my questionnaire, I have a table (that is written in html and programmed with javascript). This table consists of two programs (two columns) which feature randomly appearing attributes. The respondent has then to choose which program she likes better. For the analysis, it is important to know which attributes each respondent saw. Therefore it would be great if this would be shown in the csv file. Otherwise I would have to do it by hand I guess and that would take forever. Does anyone have an idea how I can program that this attributes are also shown in the csv file? Since the table is not a real question it does not appear in the csv file. Maybe I would have to assign numbers to each attribute but I am also unsure on how to do that. I would really appreciate your help! Thank you and cheers! Franzi

Loop and Merge Based on Deterministic choice

Hi In my survey, I have 10 questions and the answer includes only two choices: ! If a participant selects route 1, I would like to show the same value each time (i.e., 6). This is easier. Using Loop and Merge, I can create a field and write ten times the value 6. This way every time a participant selects the option "Route 1", the 6 value would appear (or simply I can use Display Logic) The problem is when a participant selects the other option "Route 2". The order of the values for the second option (Route 2) is as follows (for 10 questions): 3 3 3 8 8 3 3 3 8 8 These values should be shown according to the above exact same order. For instance, if a participant selects Route 1 in the first question and Route 2 in the second question, then I would like to show the first value from the above order (i.e. 3). In other words, if a participant in the first three questions select option 1 (Route 1), and in the fourth question "option 2 (Route 2)", then for the second option

using javascript to create/visualize randomized embedded data in the same question

Hi all, I'm looking for directions as I (have to) start using java. I'm programming an experiment where participants will be asked to repeatedly choose between two options called A and B. What would you prefer between these two options? Option A: xx amount of dollars at time [time level], Option B: yy amount of dollars at time [time level], where the time level is randomly picked from five levels. Becas where the time level of option A is randomly picked from three levels [now, 1 week from now, 2 weeks from now] and the time level of option B is randomly picked from five levels [1 week from now, ... , 5 weeks from now]. Furthermore, the time level of Option B must always be greater than the time level of Option B [e.g. if A=1week then B>1week]. This design ended up to be too complicated to be managed within the Qualtrics Survey Flow, so my only way out is to write some lines of java in each question. How to add text after text box on mobile

I want to have a question where respondents give their answer in thousands of dollars. To format this question, I'm following the advice given in the following discussion on how to add static text before and after a text entry box: https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/102/how-to-add-static-text-after-a-text-entry-box In my case this involves adding a dollar sign before and three zeros after. This works fine on desktop, however on mobile the static text refuses to display on the same line as the text box (as seen below). As far as I can tell, this is because the width of the text box is automatically set to 100%. Even if I set the width myself with javascript and it works properly on desktop , the width is automatically set to 100% on mobile. Any suggestions on how to resolve this will be greatly appreciated! !

Java code to avoid identical answers and custom validation for URL links

Hello, I am creating a survey where I ask participants to search online for some unique URL image links and to enter them in 200 text entry question. I would like to set up a java code that helps me to avoid identical text entries (i.e., subjects can copy paste the same links for many times). I could set up custom validation on each of the questions that it will only pass if what they enter is not equal to the text entry value for any of the previous questions( by using a piped text) but I was wondering whether there is a java code for this? Second, the text entry must contain "https://" or something like that so that it has to be a link. Is it possible to do it with a java code? If I use a regex how should the expression look like? Hi, I am trying to create a custom question where participants highlight segments of text and answer questions about the text. I had the following questions about JavaScript capabilities in Qualtrics: Can we use our own Javascript libraries? Can we AJAX POST to external API or use our own AWS server/endpoint? Font size in matrix table

Hi, I am using 'default choices' to display fields from embedded data in text boxes in a matrix table. Some of the entries from the embedded data are long than the width of the text box. I want the font size in the table in this question to be smaller than the font size in the rest of the survey. How can I decrease the font size of the entries in the table? If this is possible, can I decrease the font size for an individual cell, row or column in the matrix table or does it need to apply to all cell/row/columns? Thanks!

Prevent TOC Sidebar from Auto-opening on large monitors?

I'm using a Table of Contents with The canned Qualtrics themes "Minimal - Blue" and/or "Blank (For Styling)." I have the TOC sidebar enabled. When users view the survey with large monitors, the sidebar automatically opens after a block loads, even if the user previously closed it. This is disorienting. Is there script I can add that will keep the sidebar always closed unless the user manually opens it by clicking the sidebar (hamburger) button? !
