Basic API question

Hi All. I have a use case where I'd like to use an API to calculate something while a respondent takes a survey, so I can provide them a score before the end of the survey. I know how to use math functions within the survey, but this would be a case where it would be better to do the calculations out of survey (during the survey). Before I start digging through all the API materials, I thought it would be best to ask this question. Thanks!API

Integration with custom application

We are thinking of storing all the survey responses from qualtrics in custom application. We have data coming from various sources in this custom application and use this for preparing reports for management. The challenge that we are facing is to find a way for integrating survey results through API. Please let me know if there is any way to push the survey results to external application in real-time.

How to write code to split one matrix (89 items) to four pages and randomize them..

Dear community I am currently trying to write Java Code for a matrix question with 89 items, that I would like to have fully randomized, but splitted over four pages (as the site gets too long and users have to scroll too much). Anyone could help me out formatting this?

Populating response data from an Excel file

I would like the users of a survey to populate survey response data from an Excel file. Is this possible? If not, can a field within a survey be populated using javascript or jQuery? I know a file can be uploaded to a survey, but I want the data within the uploaded file to automatically populate the response data. Please provide an example on how this can be done. Thanks!

Rank order

I am trying to do a rank order where participants put in their order of things and when they do up the questions, each set of questions for each item will come out in the order that they have placed the items in. Is this possible? Display logic takes too many programming and is not feasible for our study which has 20 items and the permutations are too many to do display logic by. Or if there are any directions to other threads are fine. Tried looking but they are not what I am searching for.

Clarification of Quotas

It would be nice if there were a clear explanation of how quotas work. I applied a quota, assuming that the survey would go inactive once the quota was reached. It did not--it continued to be open (so, I found myself wondering what a quota accomplishes). Then, I found a post that suggests that I need to build logic into the survey that somehow redirects to a customized end-of-survey question in order to make a quota work. This seems quite complicated. If there is a simple explanation of how quotas work, can you point me to that? I was unable to find a simple feature explanation by searching on the Qualtrics site.

User Experience Menu for navigating blocks?

I'm building a public comment survey. The public can add essay-style text to a variety of questions in subheadings. I plan to make each subheading a block. Is there a great way to make a sticky menu that will allow users to jump around from block to block? Or maybe I could make an index style page that links to the blocks. I'm trolling for UX ideas here. Thank you for reading this newbie's discussion.

How can I require that the customer provide either a phone number or an email? He/she doesn't have to provide both, but must supply one.

Piped text in report charts?

I have piped text into the title text above a chart to show the number of responses to the question. However, I have a series of stacked bars in one chart that each may have a different number of responses. Is there a way to pipe the number of responses into each of the axis labels? (For example, Roses n=X and Irises n=X.)

Salesforce and task objects

I am trying to trigger a survey from a task object. When I test the workflow starting at the customer account, create the task object and then complete the workflow, the survey is triggered. The normal process, however, does not involve starting from the customer account. In the normal process, the task object is created automatically. When the workflow is completed under these circumstances, nothing happens. I don't even get a debug email saying the survey was not sent. I was told in Salesforce, the debug information looks just like the first process that did send the survey. One other piece of information that may be useful. Task objects do not contain the customer's email address, so a formula was used to place the email address in the task. Any ideas what could be causing this or what we should check?

More details needed to generate random number with no repeats. Any solution yet?

Hi all - Thanks for reading! I know this question has been asked several times already (e.g., https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/85/i-want-to-randomly-assign-a-4-digit-id-to-every-respondent-with-no-repeats), but thought I'd check in again about this to see if someone could provide a more specific answer, since this _has_ to be a need that many people have. I want to assign a random 6-digit number as a respondent enters a survey, but it's _essential_ that there be no repeats. I know Qualtrics' random number generator can do this, but can't guarantee it won't repeat. So, several others have suggested setting up a web service or library to do this. But can anyone provide more details about exactly how to do this? There has to be a solution out there, and I think it'd be really helpful to a lot of people to post it here.

Timing responses to your questions

Hi all, I am implementing a slider task as part of an experiment and I would like to record how long it takes for my survey participants to complete the slider questions. I've had a look at the Timing question but I am not sure how it works. Do I put this at the start of the block and it records all subsequent times for the questions? Please help!

Using a Web Service or API with iQ Directory

Has anyone used a web service or API function with iQ Directory? I have a Qualtrics survey that contains a series of personal links to other surveys. I am wondering if it is possible to set up a web service to go to the iQ directory to "get" whether a student has completed a specific survey to "update" the portal to indicate that the student completed the survey. Example Portal page * Personal link to Survey A * Personal link to Survey B * Personal link to Survey C _____________________________ You have completed the following surveys: * Survey C (we want to see if a web call or API function that can go to the Student History of iQ Directory to update the completion on another Qualtrics survey page, in this case the Portal page)

Newbie question: How to export questions with piped text so that the text is replaced?

I have questions that look like this: "What could be better about ${q://QID3/ChoiceDescription/2}?" Both the Qualtrics reports and export of the data to csv show the piped text code, and not the actual text. How do I get the actual text?

Does Qualtrics support integrating with APIs via the implicit grant flow of Oauth 2.0?

Has anyone had any success with using Qualtrics to call secure APIs without API keys or is there a way to hide API keys from form editors? We are attempting to integrate Qualtrics with our custom Student Information System restful API using the implicit grant flow of Oauth 2.0. We aren't comfortable adding secret keys to Qualtrics forms our editors would be able to see and potentially abuse (accidentally removing authentication, ect). We could build a custom javascript function that sends the client to our Authorization server to get an access token onLoad, that is then used to set an embedded field that is sent to the (API) Resource server as a bearer header. This custom javascript function would be very volatile to Qualtrics updates. - Another option may be to use our existing federation (SAML) to generate access_tokens.

Providing individual survey summary (scores) to survey participants

Hi, I created a scale (Kolbs Learning Style Inventory) and intend to provide - as an incentive t participate - each participant with his/her individual result. I used Kolb's earlier approach with 10 ranking questions and managed to create the summary scores for the 4 dimensions. I just don't know how I can provide these 4 values to the survey participants. One way would be to distribute the results via email , but I intended to collect the answers anonymously. Is there a way to provide the results immedaitely after the participants finish the survey? Adjust Auto Numbering

Is there a way to adjust the formatting in the auto-numbering feature? I recently stumbled upon this feature, but couldn't figure out how to manipulate the formatting to fit our best practices.

Carry forward based on specific scale response

I would like to carry forward ONLY the choices that were rated 7-10 on a previous question. The previous question has a text box for each choice where the respondent types in a rating from 1-10. Again, I'd like to carry forward to the subsequent question only the choices where 7-10 was entered. Thanks.

Reordering Cards in a StatsIQ Workspace

Does anyone know how to reorder the analysis cards? It drives me crazy that If I want to build a workspace in a logical order I essentially need to work backwards the whole time since it puts the newest analysis on top. Has anyone figured out a workaround for this?

Pairwise Comparisons texts: How to?

For research into the readability of texts, I want participants to compare multiple sets of two texts. They have to state which text is easier/harder to read. I have a database of 25 texts, all these text have to be compared to each other. Since it will be a lot of work to create all the sets by hand, I was wondering if such a thing is possible in Qualtrics. I was thinking of putting all the texts separately in Qualtrics, choose: present 2 of the elements, followed by a randomizer which presents all of the elements evenly. However, I was wondering if there is an option to present all the possible sets evenly. Because if text 1 ... text 25 are all presented i.e. 10 times, it doesn't mean that the combination 1 - 2 and 1 - 25 are presented the same amount of times. Or does it? It would be great if anyone could help me out!
