How to deselect the answer to 'other' in a matrix type question?

I am new to Qualtrics and Java, never used either. I have a matrix question with several rows of options and a last row for ‘others’ where participants can add their answers and select an option on the respective Likert scale. The problem is that if you mistakenly click on any of the Likert scale options for ‘others’, it won’t let you uncheck and you are forced to write something in the text box for ‘others’. I would like participants to be able to unselect their options for the last row only.I can see that there are some solutions provided for it by the community but being completely unfamiliar with Java, I am not able to get my head around how to proceed with adding a deselect button, where to put the Java code or how to find the question ID etc. Can someone please be kind enough to explain in a more step-by-step way?

Hi, I have a question if there’s a way to customize the message on an anonymous survey  landing page before it is live. Can the message that reads the “survey is not currently active” be customized for example - it will be live <date>?

building a survey dashboard with distribution data as a source

Hi, I have a question on dashboards and understand there’s a few data sources Qualtrics builds dashboards thru, via surveys, survey distribution. I only see the option to select an existing survey. How do you link the survey distribution as a source in a new dashboard project? ​​​Thanks!

Trying to change Gabor Granger from 2 options to 5 options

I’m trying to change the Gabor Granger template Qualtrics provides. I want the willing to pay question to be 5 options instead of 2 options. I tried to recode the values (option 1 & 2 = 1, option 3, 4, 5 = 2) but that did not work.How can I adjust the JavaScript to accept this change?Thanks!

Labeling Randomized Vignettes

I am using a Factorial Survey Method for my study. I have 16 vignettes, of which two of the 16 are randomly assigned to a survey participant. In pre-testing feedback, a survey participant thought the two vignettes were the same. The vignettes were similar but not exactly the same.Is there a way to label the two vignettes that are randomly assigned and seen by a survey participant as Scenario One and Scenario Two so the survey participant knows they are different?

Customize instruction text for MaxDiff project

Hello,I’m using the MaxDiff project type (NOT the matrix / table question type in a standard survey), and I’m wondering if there’s any way to add custom CSS or any other code to modify / customize the instructions since there is not a rich content editor when you set up the display for MaxDiff. What I’m hoping to do is be able to bold or underline certain words so it’s not just one large wall of text for respondents to read. Any help or insight would be much appreciated!

I need to upload data from a survey to another with different participants. I tried importing the data into a question and also another time into an embedded data, in the second survey. when I try to display the data, none works. is there any way to use imported data in a question survey?

Using Numeric Entry

I am trying to write a question asking the customer for the amount of days they waited for something by mail.I have tried setting the form fields to allow a numeric answer, and am not having any luck. I want them to write a number of days between 1 and 30. Please advise.

Best option to increase respondent cap?

I’m completely new at using Qualtrics and so am still looking at which plan is my best option.My survey will have between 2.500 and 3.000 responses and I am the only one working on it. As far as I can see no plan allows me more than 1.000 responses pr. user. If I go for the CoreXM plan with up to 10 users and 1.000 respondents pr. user, can I then just activate 3 users, copy the survey, send out 3 different links tied to the 3 different users (I’m surveying a group I easily can divide into either 3 or 4 groups), and then merge the responses once I have them all?Or is there some really simple way for me to increase the max. number of respondents on one single user without going for the top plan, which I assume is waaaaaay too expensive for my needs? :-D

Selecting only one option for side by side question

Hi, I would like my participants to only be able to select one option from both columns. Meaning if they select “really true for me” they should not be able to select any other options, not from the same column and not from the other column. Would that be possible? Thank you!

Converting a Jotform survey/form into a Qualtrics form

Hi, I’m new to Qualtrics. I would Jotform for most of our more intricate forms, which has a pretty straight forward platform,  however, our university has moved to Qualtrics. I need to convert this Jotform into a Qualtrics form. I was able to tackle some of the features needed, but it’s been extremely difficult to navigate through Qualtrics to try to achieve the look of the original form as well as some of the conditional formatting and calculations. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Editing topics in Text iQ

This link https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/text-iq/topics-in-text-iq/ shows that you should be able to edit topics once they have been loaded the first time by clicking in to the query text and then clicking the “Update this topic” button.We do not have either the “Save as new topic” button or the “Update this topic” button for some reason.  We can delete/change items and hit enter and the comments refresh as if they are searching for more comments but if we click away to another topic and then come back, the topic changes don’t save. Is there a reason for this or is it a bug? This is from an uploaded topic list from a JSON file.

Downloading data from randomized items in a specific way

Hi everyone! I need some help with this one. I got data from a survey in which participants rated 36 items presented in a random order (each one was created as a block).Now I would like to know if there is a way to download the data so that I only get the responses to the first X number of items that the participants viewed. I know there is an option called "Export viewing order data for randomized surveys", however this has not been useful for me, as I need to calculate a general index that expresses the mean of the first half of the items that each participant responded to.Thanks for reading! I appreciate any suggestion.

Recognise answer as time for email Workflow

I am trying to use Qualtrics to get students to pick a time slot for an event. Next to the survey I have set up a workflow that takes the time they have chosen and creates a calendar invite from it. The problem is that Qualtrics doesn’t recognise the answer as a time and instead just sees the value of ‘1’, ‘2’, etc. I cannot seem to find anywhere how to make Qualtrics recognise the actual choice (e.g., 09:00) as a time. I looked into Flatpickr but because students should only get an overview of a few dates and a few times to choose from (at 3 or 15 min intervals), that seems impossible to do with this tool (although I might be missing something?) Thanks so much for any input you can give! Here’s an image of what I have the workflow looking like.

Unsubscribe Survey for Stakeholders using Webservice

Hello,I am trying to create a survey where our stakeholder will type in an email address in a text field and the next page will show all of the mailing lists that email belongs to. Ideally, I would want that list in a multi-response option. The stakeholder will then click on the specific mailing list and that email address will be Opted out of the list.  I have created a survey that asks for the email address and then in Survey Flow, I have 2 webservices.One is getting the contact ID of the email address (using “Search Directory Contact” API, this works fine) and the other is getting the mailing lists of the contact ID using “Get Directory Contact” API. The problem is when I want to store the mailing lists, I tried to do it like this:But I think the syntax should be “result.mailingListMembership.[membership id].name”. I want to make it dynamic so it will list all of them. I tried “result.mailingListMembership.0.name” or “result.mailingListMembership.[0].name” but these did not work. Is

Disagreement between "Preference Share", "Average Feature Utility", and "Feature Count" within MaxDiff Summary

Hi, I am using the MaxDiff project provided by Qualtrics. Overall, I love the tool and the functionality it offers. However, in reviewing the results, it seems that there is disagreement between the output provided by the different forms of MaxDiff. I have a couple notes and confusions about the output of the MaxDiff summary in multiple points. (1) Preference Share is inconsistent with Average Feature Utility in terms of rank ordering and in terms of estimates: In the two outputs, the Preference Share’s second ranked item becomes the fifth ranked item in the Average Feature Utility plot. There are other examples of this shifting of rank-ordering occurring. The Qualtrics MaxDiff white paper states that the preference share “is derived by exponentiating the item utility and dividing that by the sum of all of the exponentiated items’ utilities.”. I extracted the average item utilities to test this myself and computed the exp(X_i)/sum(exp(X_j)) for all the items 1 through i. The probabilit

Is it possible to load a .csv file in Qualtrics and pipe text from that file?

Hello! I am creating a survey in which participants have to write a short text based on a given prompt.I have a .csv file with 1000 prompts. I would like to load this .csv file in my Qualtrics Survey and randomly pick one prompt to show to my participants using piped text. The outcome should be like this:#Text/Enty type question#WRITE YOUR TEXT HERE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING PROMPT:@piped_text_from_csv Is this possible? Assign and visualise pre-generated username and password to participants

Hi everyone!For my survey I have to provide participants with username and password that they have to use in a subsequent survey they'll be redirected to (on an external software). I have an excel file with usernames and passwords (see example below): I'd like participants to be randomly assigned to one of this credentials (without repetition of course).In order to do so I created a multiple choice question with the numbers 1-20 set as the choice values, I used advanced randomisation to select a random subset of 1 value from all options and to used the "Evenly Present" option to ensure that Qualtrics does not reuse numbers. Then I uses JS to hide the question from view -:$(this.questionId).hide();Afterwards I coupled it with embedded data, which i then branched with an authenticator with contact list (the excel file).However, when i try to show participants their usernames and values nothing shows up in the preview (see screenshots). Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

RE: Embedded Data / Piping Problem - providing too many numbes

Hi All, In my “triggered email” response to assessment respondents, I’d like to reduce the number of decimals to no more than two. I imagine this is a common problem, I just can’t seem to find a solution on youtube or Qualtrics. This is an example of what the embedded data is spitting out when I pipe in the data to the respondent:Product Positioning: 2.875Company Culture: 4.25Leadership Quality: 1.2Role Alignment: 1.1428571428571Company Culture: 1.1818181818182 Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

generate and download personalized opt out links

Hi community, I’m not using Qualtrics distribution system to send out survey invitation emails. Instead, I will be using an internal email distribution system of my organization to do that. However, I still want to use the opt-out functionality by Qualtrics to keep track of unsubscribing users. How do I generate and download personalized opt-out links just like generating and downloading the personalized survey links? Thanks!
