Between Subject Survey Set-up

I am creating a between subject survey where there are two conditions: Baseline display condition and experimental display condition. Each display condition has three scenarios: state of charge, temperature, and range.How can I set a between subject survey where each participant is assigned to either baseline display condition or the experimental display condition, and the order in which they receive the questions for state of charge, temperature and range scenarios is randomized.

Hiding the next (matrix table) question until 30s of an audio is played

Hi,I’m looking to hide my next question (which is a matrix table) until the participant has heard at least 30s of an audio clip. Can anyone help with this?I guess you can use this code for until the audio finishes:Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function() {jQuery("#NextButton").hide();jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" audio").on("ended", function() { jQuery("#NextButton").show(); });});In my case, I would like the audio to keep playing while they complete the next question. Randomizing Blocks while having some always appearing

I am currently doing a survey for my Master’s Thesis and I am in a bit of a predicament. I have 7 blocks. And I want to randomly select 4 of them to each participant. But from those 4 I want to have 2 that will always appear for each participant, regarding of order. That is, they can appear at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. But I don’t know if this is possible to do. What I have for now is a first randomization of those 2 to appear in first or second, and a second randomization of the other 5 (only 2 will be selected as well). But this is not ideal. Can someone help me? Is it possible to do ? I already tried many times without success and tried to search for this but, strangely, I did not find anything.

Embed ad hoc calculator and display payoff before confirming

In my survey, respondents are asked to allocate money across categories. Each category has its own formula that calculates payoffs in the future. I would like to allow respondents to insert some values, click a “calculate” button, see the outcome of their decision, and then “confirm” or change the numbers as many times as they want until confirming their decisions.Is there an option to do this?

Why does my in-page question get pushed to the next page?

All my questions for a certain block should be in the same page (scrolled down) without any page breaks. However, one choice of my slider question has been pushed to the next page despite it not having any page breaks. My current Look and Feel settings do not have a specified limit on the number of questions per page. Is the entire block too lengthy or is there a way to ensure the whole question is on the same page?

Recording Loop and Merge Field to map responses to presented item

The scenario is that I have 50 text examples that survey participants would be evaluating through a Matrix question (rubric).I have them set up in a Loop and Merge that randomizes the order the examples are presented. I need to be able to map the responses to the example the user was shown.For example:The user is presented with text examples Text1, Text5, Text15, Text26 and Text42.I need to be able to align the responses to those text identifiers (essentially ${lm://Field/1} or ${lm://Field/2})I’m guessing this will require javascript code and embedded data but that’s as far as my knowledge goes. I can mess around with code, but am not facile at writing it from scratch.Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Issues with formula output in workflow

Hello,We've been using a formula at the end of each Qualtrics survey and in the workflow to add up all the budget items in the application. The formula consists of the question response code + question response code (repeated) for each item in the the table. I put a screenshot of the formula below. Formula we are currently usingThis formula is present at the end of the survey and in the workflow email. The issue is that the email receipt sent from the workflow to the applicant sends the formula and not the total. Interestingly enough, the formula works in preview mode of the survey, but it doesn't work in the email. Below is a screenshot of how it looks in preview mode. Successful output in preview mode Would anyone happen to know how to fix this? I don’t understand why the formula works in the survey but not in the workflow. Thank you!

side by side question where mutually exclusive for one column

Hi I have a question for the side by side question - Is it possible to have one column of responses mutually exclusive, where if that column is selected, no other data can be entered in other rows? In the example, I would like to make the rightmost column (Not Applicable) mutually exclusive, where if Not Applicable selected in one row, then the free text entry rows do not apply and no values are collected. Is there a validation check?

Is it possible to use read in questions from excel sheet to Qualtrics?

Hi all, I’m building a survey that contains about 300 questions. I have all questions already in an excel sheet and it seems like a tedious task to write them all out in Qualtrics. Is there a way to import the excel into Qualtrics to save a bit of time? Also, the questions are to be answered on a scale of 1-7. How can I make sure that each question appears together with the scale if it’s possible to import them from excel? Huge thanks to all responders in advance!

Displaying messages based on different slider scores

Hello! We are trying to build a test where participants have to look at two pictures, and decide whether the two pictures depict the same person, or different people. Following, they have to respond using a “confidence scale” where: 0 indicates “Absolutely certain that the two images depict the same person” and 100 indicates “Absolutely certain that the two images depict two different faces indicates”.  We want to convert their responses on the confidence scale into SAME for scores from 1-50, and DIFFERENT for scores from 51-100.  As an example for a practice trial, we wanted to tell participants the following: On this trial you responded "XX" on the scale. As this was between "1-50/51-100" this was converted into a "Same/Different" face response with "higher (if 1-25 or 76-100) or lower (if 26-75)" levels of confidence. The correct response was "Same/Different" Face. Your response was therefore "Correct/Incorrect". As an example, if on a trial where the correct response is “DIFFERENT”

Setting up an Extract Data from Snowflake Task- HOW?

Hi Folks-  I am working through this documentation: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/actions-page/etl-workflows/data-extractor-tasks/extract-data-from-snowflake-task/#Setup and have gotten to the “Setting up an Extract Data from Snowflake Task” component. My data team and I are stuck- what does “File name pattern” mean in #5 of this section? It’s not just me being confused by this. Our data engineering team says this lacks context so I am wondering if anyone can help us figure it out. We intend to trigger all of our recurrent surveys from Snowflake ETL tasks, so this is mission critical for program success.

Scoring: hide correct answers

Hi,I show participants the scoring of thier answers, but I do not want them to see the correct answers (right now they can see it, see the picture). In the example, I want them to see just the 50 and not the 40 (that is the correct answer).Thank you!!

Automated Email to Survey Taker based on answer

Is it possible to trigger an email to the survey taker if they answer a question “yes” - for example - Would you like to learn more about available resources for future reference?If they answer “yes” then an automated email will be sent to them from Qualtrics?

Vignette study with java script

Hi, I’m new to using java script in Qualtrics and I have a question.I’m running a study where participants are randomly allocated to read one of 16 vignettes. Of course, I could set this up using the survey builder and survey flow, but I would like to use code - this is a pilot study for a larger experiment with over 500 vignettes, which would be too complicated to set up manually.What I think I need to do is to set embedded data fields with variable names for each vignette, and then tell Qualtrics the corresponding vignette text for each name. How to make survey report display the % correct responses to individual items

I have created a survey with 25 multiple choice questions. I set up scoring so that each question has one correct response that scores 1 point. I am trying to create a report that will display a table of the 25 questions and the percent of respondents who answered each question correctly, like the table below (but with 25 rows)Survey Question % correct 1 100% 2 75% 3 80% I can only figure out how to create a separate widget for each question. Is it possible to create a table with all of the questions in the report with the % correct responses?

Google Maps Autocomplete Missing Zip Codes

We have the Google Maps Autocomplete enabled in our account. However, it does not appear to be pulling zip codes as part of the request. As we will be using this to validate shipping addresses, the zip code is critical to our use. See the image below. I’ve verified the output in Data & Analysis and it is not there either. I was hoping it would be, even if it’s not displaying on screen. Is there something different I need to do to make sure this information is captured? (For the record, I am one of our Brand Administrators, so I do have access to our Admin pages.) Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks,Kristi

Randomly selecting one of up to 8 text entries

I have a question in my survey where the participant provides up to 8 names. And then I need to randomly select 1 of the names and have that name piped into the text of questions. The challenge is that a participant could provide only 3 names for example. So I need to randomly select a name from those 3 names, not all 8 text entries (since the other 5 entries will be blank). Can anyone help? Thanks!

Lag in survey using loop & merge

Hi XM Community, My collaborator and I have found a way to use Loop & Merge to implement an attention-based work task from psychology within a Qualtrics survey. In short, we have a 5 blocks, where each block contains a set of 300 images that are presented in a random order to the participant using Loop & Merge. It seems to work well in most ways EXCEPT that it seems to be the case that the lag on the survey gets longer and longer as the survey progresses. Has anyone else had issues with this? We assume it’s some issue where Loop & Merge caches some data and thus lags more, but that truly is just a guess  -- does anyone who understands how Loop & Merge works in the backend have a hunch on what might be happening and how this might be fixed? Thank you!
