Custom Code

Hi everyone, Does anyone know the code for applying colour to alternate rows within a matrix table? It seems that the new look & feel menu does not allow anymore to make this change through the available options to select. Many thanks, Best, Patrizia

Currently, we are working on a large international survey with grant funding and was told that Qualtrics can provide resources in survey writing and data analysis that is superior to other forms we are used to (e.g. surveymonkey & google forms). We are working with a broad Q-sort structure in our surveys. Robert Guzman (the Qualtrics Product Specialist) said that we would need to get into the code or talk to support communities to find answers to our questions. We are hopeful you can help.We are making a survey question with multiple “topics” that we want the participant to sort into “buckets” (i.e. groups). We need the “topics” to expand when the participant’s mouse hovers over the “topic”. We also  (and here is the hard part) need to let the participant DEFINE the bucket WHILE they sort. If they define the bucket right after the sorting activity, that is fine as well, but we need the buckets to be associated with the definitions they give for the buckets. For example, we will give th

I’m building an intake form with a few different branches. A few will branch and redirect to URLs after clicking the “submit” button (I’ve renamed them for what they do, but they are the last button), the others will proceed to the intake form. And one will end after a dropdown selection and will have a “Close” button and I’d like it to automatically close the tab.I found this post but it sounds like that does it for ALL Submit buttons, and I only want it for this specific branch.

Hi,I have a study that looks into population group sizes based on a participant’s reported state and county. I have a large csv which contains every US state and county combination with corresponding subpopulation values (let’s use group A, group B, and group C for now). After reading through examples, I am able to use the responses from a drill down to set the state and county as embedded values and feed these values into the next series of questions. As an fyi, the drill down question was copied from a previous study so it is not linked directly to the csv I have. What I am stuck on now is how to use the embedded state and county values to correctly filter the csv to set corresponding groups A, B, and C embedded values which will be piped into a text. If this csv is loaded as a contact list, is there a way to set embedded values without using an authenticator? Is there some clever JS workaround? Any advice will be welcome. Thank you for your help.

Hello All,How do I customize the color of my progress bar in my survey? Thank you in advanced.

Hello all, I'd like to create a checkbox next to my question that automatically check itself after all options are checked. Is that possible? For example, after checking all choices 1,2 and 3, I want a checkbox on the left of my question to check automatically. Can someone please help me out? Thanks.

Hi all,I can’t unfortunately access the link in the answer previously given to this question. I have company SSO enabled on my Qualtrics account.I have a fairly long 6 column side-by-side matrix table which doesn’t display easily/clearly on screen. The person I’m creating the survey for would like me to freeze the first column, which I believe is possible with custom code.I’m not a coder, so could someone kindly explain how this is possible for me to do in Qualtrics, please? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, I am trying to use branch logic in my survey to determine if the person that signed in with an authenticator block is the same person that was sent the link to the survey. I am using it sort of as an approval process. Look at all of this stuff and if it all looks good click this link.I am embedding the username (along with some other data) in the url of the survey link with a query string. I then want to compare the username in the URL to the username from the authenticator block. My problem is that the username from the url may have a different case depending on who entered the username originally. For example “Smithj” was entered and gets sent via the url but by authenticator is returning “SmithJ” as the user name.I think my best bet is using a Regex expression to compare and make it case insensitive. Currently I have-Username coming from URL is being saved as an embedded field “VidOwner”Username coming from the authenticator is being saved as “UserName”My branch looks like th

Hey everyone!I’m slowly getting frustrated here 😅I want to set up a customized end of survey message that includes an clickable URL.based on the answers given. To be more specific, I need to include the answers of the questions as parameter into the URL:If  the answers to the question 1 is A, to question 2 is D and question 3 is E, the URL should end with “[...]?Q1=A&Q2=D&Q3=E”As the survey has many questions customizing it based on branches doesn’t seem feasible.Anyone knows how to do that?

@Tom_1842 has an answer for this that we worked through over direct messages. It has great use in addressing accessibility issues, so we decided to have him post the solution here publicly.Tom recently posted some really cool code that allows respondents to add emojis to their text entry. So I asked him if he had any code that will allow the user to change the font size of their text entry and he of course delivered. For those who are interested, this is an accessibility issue brought up to me by a respondent with vision impairment. It was very hard for them to respond to the open ends because they couldn’t see well what they were typing. They ended up copying and pasting things from Word but it was annoying for them. They asked if they could have more control over the font size to ease text entry. Since my survey is actually a form and not a one time thing I wanted a solution and it’s a solution I plan to implement on open ends moving forward (especially when surveying older adults). A

I can’t seem to submit an idea so I would just like to put out there that I’m going to have to build a regex because the Canadian zip code validation is set to be case sensitive. Respondents who are typing fast or do not want to stop to format may be bounced from a true answer and told to retype which might introduce confusion if the zip code is technically correct, just not formatted as expected. Alternative2: Slack verification has a one character per box format and automatically upper-cases the letters. This would be a good format to replicate for countries that have alphanumeric zip codes where formats (dash or no dash? space or no space, uppercase or lowercase, consistent or inconsistent) are more varied than the American digits-only format.

Hi there,I am using a stars scale question in my survey, with 4 items but actually those items are not display correctly on mobile. They are a bit cut (see image below). Also I would like to change the color of the stars when selected, how to do that ?Thanksss!

While I am able to get the (not recoded) value of a chosen answer with this.getChoiceAnswerValue() , I just don't get the recoded values. Both lines of following code result in empty variables:var value2 = this.getChoiceRecodeValue();var value3 = this.getChoiceRecodeValue(this.getSelectedChoices());Any help much appreciated!

How can I align a graphic to the center (instead of appearing aligned at left)?

Hello everyone,I have made a matrix component that users can select multiple options at once by dragging the pointer. Please check it out and let me know if there's a request for a new feature.https://github.com/keita-makino/qualtrics-drag-matrix

Hi,I am a Masters Psychology student with no experience of coding and have found a piece of code that allows you to track when a hyperlink within a survey is clicked, which alone confuses me on how to actually follow the instructions and implement it but I’d probably be able to manage with some hours and tears. My problem is that I want to include multiple external hyperlinks to act as proxies of understanding within a block of text and be able to track either how many in total have been clicked or, if its easier, whether each individual hyperlink has been clicked, and I have no idea how to. Any advice is greatly appreciated but I’m honestly debating trying to find a way to maybe do this study in person on paper with some other proxy/proxies (I’m an online student so I’m pretty sure that would be incredibly difficult when trying to gather enough data).Thank you in advance to anyone who responds!

How do I middle align and left align this text to the image in the button?I know I can use HTML code, but what does that code look like?Firstly, left align all text to the image? And then how do I center align the text to the image?

Hi! I have a multiple choice question where I replace the label with images using JS. The images need to be responsive, so to change on hovering and selecting. In my Library I have 3 variants for each option. The Javascript for replacing and hovering works fine. When selecting, the image just reverts to the first one (or the new one is not visible). Can anyone find the mistake? This is how it looks now on load:Hovering over option 2:My Javascript (I replaced the links with placeholders):Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function() { // Replace label containers with images var imageUrls = [ LinkForImage1Normal, LinkForImage2Normal, LinkForImage3Normal, LinkForImage4Normal, LinkForImage5Normal ]; jQuery("#" + this.questionId + " .LabelContainer").each(function(index) { jQuery(this).html('<img src="' + imageUrls[index] + '">'); }); // Add hover effect jQuery("#" + this.questionId + " .LabelContainer img").hover( function() { var hoverImageUrls = [

Hi All,I am stuck on a condition to screen out responses received after end of month from a embedded date variable. It should be dynamic as well.Embedded DATE variable name: ShowDateExample conditions belowI want to screen out anyone completes the survey with ShowDate of previous months. If someone with show date 31/05/2023 completes the survey on 01/06/2023 then screen out.The condition should work every month continuously. If someone with show date 23/06/2023 completes the survey on 14/07/2023 then screen out.ORIf someone with show date 15/02/2023 completes the survey on 25/07/2023 then screen out. Only if the ShowDate month is the same as the current month should be made complete. Could someone shed some light to solve this.Thank you,Praveen

What would be the best way to ensure an email survey (with embedded images and questions) can always be viewed in dark mode and light mode? Currently, if viewing from dark mode, its hard to see the question options as they are images. Anyone have experience with this or custom CSS to fix?

Hi AllWe are aiming to make the button to have colour while the respondent select the score, if they select 8 for example, 0-8 will also have the colour, and the 0-6 will be in red colour ,7-8 in yellow color.I've updated the custom code inside that nps question,it is not getting color for the last number.for example: selected 9 means it showing color for 0-8 fine but 9 is not geting color.placed my code here. Please help me resolveQualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){        jQuery('.ColumnLabel.First').css('color','red');jQuery('.ColumnLabel.Last').css('color','green');    var qid = this.questionId;var leftpoint = document.getElementById(qid+'-0-label');jQuery(".SingleAnswer").click(function() {for (var i=0;i<=11;i++){jQuery("td:eq(" + i +")").find('label').css("background-color", "rgba(0,0,0,.06)");jQuery("td:eq(" + i +")").find('label span').css("color", "#0000ff");}    var selected = jQuery(this).text();for (var i=0;i<=selected;i++){    if((i==0)||(i==1)||(i==2)||(i==3

So I want to fire different creative based on javascripts events. As far as I understood I need to add this kind of logic https://prnt.sc/rb0anh . But it doesn't work for me. I tried different ways like <b>QSI.API.Events.push('hello_world') / window._qsie.push('hello_world') / document.dispatchEvent(new Event('hello_world') </b> . Am I missing something or it doesn't work as I expect?

Hi, I have a video which I added to a question, using the "Insert Media" option. It's an .mp4 that I uploaded to the files library. I want the next button to be disabled until the video is finished playing. How can I do it with JS code? All the examples that I found refered to videos from YouTube... Thanks in advance!

Hello,I’m using the Constant Sum question type, specifically the slider to allow individuals to provide feedback.I have custom validation that forces respondent choices to total 100, which is why I prefer Constant Sum over the classic Slider question type.My statements are quite long and I’d like to place the statements above each slider rather than having them located to the left of each slider.I’ve tried using other Custom CSS from this forum and it hasn’t been successful/directly applicable to my use-case. Thanks!
