Survey Design - Java Script - Qualtrics software Update - Activating Tool Tips

Before Qualtrics update in September, we used to have tooltip information which does not seem to be functioning anymore. Would anyone know how to update this coding? Follow-up questions linking to early survey responses

Is it possible to use the information that a respondent fills in in one question and automatically project that in a following question? And is it possible for the survey to tailor follow-up questions or text depending on a respondent's chosen answer earlier in the survey?

How to download randomized question in SPSS

Hi All, I downloaded my data in SPSS but it did not display the random assigned questions. So I can't see which participant viewed which question. Does anyone know how to do this in SPSS? I know this was not an issue before because I've done the same experiment on qualtrics before and did not have an issue.

Constant Sum Must Total but not mandatory?

Is it possible to custom code a constant sum question so that the responses must total 100%, but it could also be left blank (all rows at 0) as well?

Basic survey questions about randomized scenario

Hi, I need to create a survey with 2 randomized scenario. Some people would receive scenario 1 and some scenario 2. I would like to make sure I am using the good way to do so. Custom Validation Options Missing?

Hi all, This is a bit of a strange one. I'm trying to do some custom validation to ensure that an entire row is completed in a side by side. However, the option for Event 10/Content of Activity appears to be missing. It is just on this column, event 10 is there for type of activity and format. I'm super confused. Has anyone experienced this before? ! !

Creating an interactive map survey in Qualtrics

Using Qualtrics Highlight question with text pulled from a server

Hi. I am trying to make a custom feature where participants highlight text that has been pulled from a server. I am using the Qualtrics highlight question, and at the moment I am able to display the text from the server in the question, but not able to populate the section where the highlighting feature is enabled. Please see photo for reference. ! The text from the top half of the photo in bullet points was pulled from a server, but you cannot highlight any of the text there. The paragraph in the bottom half of the photo was copy pasted in to the section where highlighting is enabled. Is there a way to populate this section with text from a server using Javascript? Thanks for your help!

Storing responses of open entry questions as embedded data

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to Qualtrics and JS. In my survey I ask respondents for their zip code and would like (a) turn responses to upper case and (b) to store their responses as embedded data. While I managed to do turn all responses to upper case, I did not manage to save the response as embedded data. I tried the following: `Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function() { var input = $("QR~" + this.questionId); var text = PATH; input.value = text.toUpperCase(); input.on('change', () => input.value = input.value.toUpperCase()); var newvar = input; Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData('zipCode', newvar); });` Note: PATH stands for the precise location of ChoiceTextEntryValue. With this code, I successfully turn responses to upper case, but the embedded data just says "array". If I use `var newvar = input.value` instead, the embedded data field is not filled. Any hints or recommendations are very welcome! Thanks a lot for your support in advance!

How to delay the last question in a survey?

I would like to delay the last question in my survey that the first two questions display as soon as the visitor enters the site, but the third, last one, is appear only with exit intent and if the two first questions are answered.

4 Survey in One? and how does quota limitation works

Hi Everyone, So I am working with manipulated movie trailer with and their background music. So I put 4 different music into 4 same movie trailers. There are 3 Movie trailers. So in total, there are 12 movie trailers. Depends on their type of music, I divided them into 4 block surveys. So in every each block there will be 3 movie trailers. I need 20 participants for every survey. So when the maximum quota has reached, that survey not be available. I have been trying some tricks with "quota" but it seems I need help. What I have done so far is: 1. I have made 4 blocks survey 2. I have made the question about which survey that participant want to pick 3. I have made display logic for every block. my question: 1. How to put quota limit on survey option? survey set 1, survey set 2, survey set 3, survey set 4. Can I make it so the participant can see the quota limit in every choice? 2. What I learned in quota page is you can end the survey when the quota has reached. But I want to put

Can I program an intercept to display to every 3rd visitor to a specific area of a website? I don't see anything that would allow me to, and the webinar didn't cover this.

Excluding categories from Random Subset based on Q Responses

Hello all- I have a set of two questions of concern. One which asks respondents to select the state they reside in, and a second which asks respondents to rate the attractiveness of other states. ! I want to ensure that respondents are asked to rate their home state. However, in displaying a subset of other states, I also want to make sure their home state doesn't appear twice. As it this set up on the screen shot, their home state and the other states present might mean 2 "Kentucky"s appear. Is there a way to ensure that the home state does not appear twice? If I try to carry forward and use advanced randomization, for some reason the "Selected choice" ends up on the random subset category which I do not prefer. Furthermore- it may still display twice, correct? !

How to set dates using piped text around a fixed date with ${e://Field/Date}

Hello Qulatrics community, I am looking to use dates in basic calculaitons for display logic and validation. I have entered a static date (e.g., "Date" = 12/10/2018) into embedded data and attempted the code below, but the piped text shows up blank. I was told by qualtrics support to try the community to see if there is a way to modify a static date (not a moveable date like ${date://OtherDate/SL/-2%20day}) so that I can set a single date and then use code/syntax to update a series of other entries such as those below. Response options: Journal Entry 1 for ${e://Field/Date} Journal Entry 2 for ${e://Field/Date+1} Journal Entry 3 for ${e://Field/Date+2} Journal Entry 4 for ${e://Field/Date+3} etc. I know that we can simply enter manually in every date, but with multiple data collections having a single or set of dates that I can enter where all other entries will be updated around them would be very helpful. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Calendar question: How to translate

In my first question I ask the user for their preferred language. Depending on their answer the survey changes language using the following script for the onload function of the following question that is in a separate block ==>jQuery("select").val("${e://Field/Q_Language}").prop("checked",true); However, I want to add a question in between asking the date they visited us (using the calendar survey question from the library). I want the question text to differ per language, but when I translate the survey using tools and change the text in HTML it still shows the survey using the English question text. How can I translate the calendar question from the library? Thank you!

After closing a survey through the API, why does the UI still say "Active"?

I closed a survey through the Update Survey API, and then checked its status with the Get Survey API -- it says "isActive": False, which is exactly what I wanted. But when I check the UI, it still says "Active" next to the survey name. Is this the expected behavior? How can I be sure that it has actually been closed?

Force authentication using SSO Authenticator after first login

We have created a Qualtrics survey which needs to be filled out by all of our employees so we are using a contact list generated from our internal Active Directory. The SSO Authenticator tool forces login and looks up the user through an LDAP lookup in the tool. When a user receives a personal link to the survey they are forced to login, as expected, capturing the embedded data fields such as their name and email from AD. The problem is if the user does not complete the survey, and clicks the personal link at a later date, the survey logs them in without authenticating using the form username/password page. Worse, if another user gets access to this personal link somehow, they are logged into the original user's survey (no LDAP lookup to check for authentication). This form is to capture sensitive, personal information and we cannot assume a link in an email will never be seen or mistakenly shared so we require that the survey user is ALWAYS authenticated. How can we achieve this?

Survey Creation Guide - Edit?

I want to edit the Survey Set-up guide/checklist so I can have a company specific guide/checklist within the toolset that they have to consider before finalising a survey. Example Marketing/Comms considerations, Sign Offs Company contact principles, are the questions in a good format for dashboarding, company costing considerations etc) Otherwise our team just click of of it as it just has links to further pages they have to open and they just close it, if however you could force them to click through them they would have to consider it. Is there anyway to do that, within the tool?

We are looking to prolong our survey period, and personal links were already created to expire on the date that it original was supposed to end. How do I extend the expiration dates of the links that were already created?

Show only specific topics in report

Hi, I'm trying to create customized reports based off of a survey. For some of the text questions, the audience for this customized report will only be interested in text coded as one of the multiple topics. I've coded all the data for the question, but I'm not sure how to adjust the visualization. When I tell it to breakout questions by Q21, it just gives me the full list, but no chance to only include one of the four topics. I don't want to filter the whole report, since some people may not have answered this question or answered with a different topic but we still want their quant data included. I don't see any option for filtering at the visualization level. What are my options? Thanks!

How to record how many times a participant has replayed a video?

Hello! I've searched for this and I couldn't find an exact answer, but it seems like it should be pretty straightforward. I've embedded a YouTube video in my survey. I want to check how many times the participant has clicked "replay" on the video. When I record clicks on the page, it records all clicks so that doesn't necessarily mean they clicked on the video! Is there a way to only record how many times they hit replay? Thank you!!
