I have a longitudinal survey and about 400 people took it for the first time and gave their email. Now it is time for them to take the survey again. However, I want the second time respondents to answer further questions. I thought I would have access to the email address in the survey for repeat respondents but haven't found a way to make it work. Basically I want logic of the type "If email is not blank, then show this block of questions". What is the simplest way to achieve this? I also want to send out the original anonymous link to other people who would take the survey for the first time. Am I forced to send a different survey to the repeat respondents or is the above doable? Thank you, Christoph

Hello, I have a survey with 15 blocks, each has 3 questions. I want to assign each block to a participant (total 15 participants). How do I do this dynamically? For example, first participant gets a block, when second participant ready to take the survey, a different block will be assigned.

Hello everyone, I'm trying to create a question in response to which participants are able to give a range as a response, or upper and lower bounds to their response. E.g. on a scale of 1 to 10, someone might provide a response of 4 to 8. Is this possible? I've tried using a rating question, but the range is always bound to the minimum on the rating scale. Hi, I have a series of questionnaires with a total of 50 questions. I'll be displaying these in matrix format. I want to randomise the order of all 50 questions, but I don't want to put them in as one question - I'd like to have them as separate matrices for each questionnaire so that when I come to analyse the results, I don't have to separate them out into their respective surveys from one massive block of 50. Am I right in thinking that if I have five questionnaires, and put each questionnaire into one matrix (with e.g. 10 statements in each - so they will still be grouped together in the data output) and select randomise all questions, it will only randomise the order of the questionnaires, not of the 50 statements? Hello, I need to display one of two messages, "continue" or "stop", depending on the current loop number vs total loop count. So if current# is less than total loop# then display "continue", else if current# = total#, then display "stop".

I want to add an audio clip that participants are required to listen to. While listening to the audio clip, participants are supposed to prove that they are listening by pressing a button (or perhaps some more straightforward input paradigm) whenever they hear the word "dog." In the backend, I want to extract the total number of times the button was pressed, and the time stamps that corresponded to the button presses. I've been having trouble designing the least confusing set-up. The button should only be active while the audio clip is playing. At the same time, if the user "accidentally" presses the button when they didn't intend to, I want to allow them to re-do the whole process. What is the best way to set this up?

The question loads, edits, etc. perfectly fine in the original survey, but whenever I try to import and edit in the second survey, I get an error that says "Question has not been saved. JavaScript is not allowed." ! Why is this happening? The original question is just a line of Text. Hi - I have a block with a multiple choice question, a file upload question, and then a yes/no "are you finished?" question. The block is looped until the respondent is finished or they reach 50 iterations. How I would like it to work: - user chooses a value in the multiple choice question (say the choices are cat, dog, bird) - on choosing a value, the file upload question appears below, and the text of the question updates based on the choice selected, e.g. if "bird" is chosen, the first question says "upload a photo of the bird" The problem: I can make the file upload question show when the user selects a value, and I can capture the value they select, but I cannot figure out how to change the text of the file upload question. I can't use piping, since all these need to be on the same page to make use of the loop. I could make pre-filled file upload questions for each option in the multiple choice, and show/hide the appropriate one, but it seems like I should be able to just change

Hi! Is it possible to "carry forward" answers on Qualtrics? Our idea is to first ask a question "Which of the following TVs would you choose?" and then ask a question "There's been an improvement in energy efficiency that leads to decreased energy consumption. Based on that information, which of the following TVs would you choose?". Choices will include several attributes of TVs, and we want respondents to be able to see their previous answer ("Which of the following TVs would you choose?"). We want to see how answers change depending on the new information; hence, it is important that respondents see what they have chosen previously. At the same time, we do not want them to change the answers, so having the questions on one page is not desirable. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am now designing my first survey with Qualtrics and I have encountered the following problem: 1. In the questions I am asking I need to have some words in bold and I used the Rich Content Editor for that. But when I click on preview some words are in bold and some are not (they were in bold when I wrote them) and I do not understand why and do not know what to do about it....... 2. I have used two different fonts in the questions - but again I cannot see them in the preview. Thank you in advance for your help.

So I have employees that are taking two surveys and I would like them to be able to complete one survey and take the other one without having to use a different link. The other caveat is that some employees need to be connected to another survey while others taking the same first survey will need to complete a different survey. Is this possible to do? Thanks!

I have a few questions where I ask a question with multiple options. For instance: Did you use prescription drugs? 1. No 2. Yes, before drinking 3. Yes, after drinking 4. Yes, while drinking They can select multiple options but I want to validate it such that if they select "no" they can't select any of the yes options. Is there a less cumbersome way to build the validation than list out all the possible "legal" combinations (eight in this case if my counting is right) since I have to do this for multiple similar questions. I could also use two different questions but I just wanted to check if there was an easier fix. Thanks!

Hello - I just published my survey and now realize I need to make an important edit. If I make this edit and re-publish will this mess up / kick out responses that are currently in progress? I've been watching it for a while and there is a steady flow of responses so I haven't been sure what to do. Thanks for the input.

Hello community, I included a custom javascript in my survey to get the local date and time when my respondents load the survey page. The logic flow I set in the survey then used these variables in the javascript as embedded data to decide which page to display. The codes work like a charm only with Chrome on my mac. _However, it didn't work on safari on mac nor safari/chrome on my iPhone/iPad._ Below is the script I included in my survey: var d = new Date(); Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData("hour", d.getHours()); var start = new Date(2019-3-3), end = new Date(), diff = new Date(end - start), days = Math.floor (diff/1000/60/60/24); Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData('day',days); Any thoughts why such an issue, and how I can make it to work across browsers and devices? Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks!

At the beginning of my survey, I ask respondents to select which tools they use from a long list (15 options). Later, I want only the selected options to populate into a dropdown which lives in a side-by-side (which has 3 columns total). Is there any easy way to do this?

The Qualtrics access token can be accessed from the account settings, but I can't, because it asks to upgrade my account and I don't want to do that because it is for a test purpose.I referred some websites and come up with a API url to get the access token.But it requires client ID and client secret. I couldn't find them in my account.If any one can help me where can I find them or giving another way to get the access token and API call url , it would be helpful.

when I publish my survey, the slider question is not functional.

I have several blocks in my survey, and need each block to be answered by a specific number of people. The blocks do not have to be randomized. In fact, I'd prefer them not to be randomized so can ensure the specific numbers I need. I've tried the randomizer/display evenly option in survey flow, but in my results, there were differing numbers of responses for each block, even though the total number of respondents was perfectly divisible by the number blocks. Is there a way to control this directly?

There have been a few employees invited to take the survey that opened it just to preview the items and intended to come back later to actually respond. Since the navigation arrows are still arrows on the last page of items, they submitted blank surveys accidentally. Please split the navigation arrow options into 2 separate choices: 1 for navigation and 1 for the final button itself.

I'd like to receive a notification (email preferred) on each person in a contact list having been sent an email survey. I looked through triggers and actions and all I could see was setting up notifications based on completed surveys. I know how to see the information from the distribution tab but I'd like an email notification too. I couldn't find a cc or bcc option but if that exists, that would work. Thanks for your help!

Hello When exporting survey to word, is there any option to show QIDs instead of question numbers in the exported word document? I am trying to create Q_PopulateResponse Json with all display and skip logics to use it with generating test responses . The Q_PopulateResponse parameter takes QIDs and choice ids. As you know, when the survey is exported to word, the display logic uses question numbers. But what I want here is QIDs so that I can extract all the QIDs and choice ids that are present in all display logics and insert them in Q_PopulateResponse Json. Thank you, Reddy
