Custom text entry boxes

I have a survey where I'd like to change the shape of the text entry "form" boxes to look like stars. Is it possible to customize the shape so that respondents enter their text answers in a star shape instead of the default rectangle? Thank you!

Sending out general message prior to the NPS survey

HI, we will be sending out a NPS survey next week. However we would like to send everyone already a short mail with an attached document, to explain what we are about to do. How can we do this ? I have tried to set up a "general message" but I cannot use this message type in the distribution. Has anyone done this before ?

How to send reminder email to selected unfinished respondents?

Dear team, I have sent an initial invite and then reminder to around 20600 students. Now, some students are facing issue, some having link issues, others cannot find the email. I would like to send a reminder email to SELECTED unfinished respondents (some who have started survey and some who didn't). Is there a way to do this?

Scoring a Drag & Drop Question

I realized that Drag & Drop does not include a scoring option, but I would like to assign a value to a statement depending on which group it is dropped in. Is there any way to use math operations or some other method to accomplish this?

Trying to get numerical choices from a question and to do math calculations

After help from Shahi I got to the following code: ! This code concatenates the numerical answers, i.e. the choice may be "A lot", "Some" and "None" and I get '1', '2' or '3', depending on the choice of the user. However, if they choose the first (1) and third (3) option for the first two questions, the sum is not 4, but 13. Could you help? If this goes beyond community support, I would be happy to pay for somebody to help me.

Static text in multiple choice question with entry box for one answer option

Hi everyone, I have a survey in which I'm asking individuals "Would you like to participate in program A?". There are two answer options "Yes, I'd like to participate in _________ sessions" or "No". How can I add the text after the text entry box (add "sessions") in my case? Thank you very much in advance!

Create a semi-static score widget?

We use surveys for tests and audits. We use the gauge chart for total average scores. Is there a way I can duplicate this widget, or use another type, to lock the YTD average score? Seems every time I click on a particular month, my YTD changes to just that month's average rather than being able to compare the 2 widgets. Lot of back and forth if I can't lock it. Of course, it will have to pull in succeeding months as well as they are pulled into the dashboard so it will not be completely static.

Is there a way to direct participants to a "forgot password" page instead of login page?

In a 360 project, is there a way to include a "forgot password" link in the Subject Invite instead of the "Login Link" or "Login URL". This is to ensure that the Subjects dont have to go through the steps of first going to the Login page and then clicking on the forgot password link.

Piping Answers Across Surveys.

Hi all, I am posting a survey on MTurk which is to be completed in two parts, on two seperate days. It is crucial to the survey that answers from one day can be piped into the same person's stimuli for the next day. Obviously, we don't want to ask people to write down their answers. Is there a way to tag a respondent in the first survey so that their answers can be piped into a later survey? Currently, I plan on providing a random four-digit ID to the respondent, which they will then use to sign in to the second survey. Unfortunately (for me), I have never used Java script, though I could learn for this specific task. Thank you for any help.

Delayed survey distribution automation for a contact added to a mailing list

Hi, We are doing an integration using POST API call "Create contact" (individual contacts, not lists). Our aim is to set up the automation so that each of the newly added contacts will receive a survey link with a delay of 2 weeks after it has been added to the list. It used to be easy in the old directory to sent out the survey immediately after a contact has been created (don't remember about the delayed distribution though). But now all I can find under mailing lists is "Schedule a message". Distribution automation confuses me a lot, because to my understanding it only allows distribution for the whole mailing list, which is not what we are after.. Any thoughts?

I would like to be able to ask: List the names of all your friends. Then allow the user to type into a text box, and add as many friends as they feel like (one per text box)

I have a min and max range of numbers for my slider. How do i merge -1, 1 on the slider range?

My range on the slider goes from -10 to +10. I dont need the -1 and +1 because they mean the same thing for the survey question. I want to merge those two numbers. Essentially the range would be: -10, -9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Is there a way to do custom ranges/ values?

When does the JS code load and run.

In my RC survey I have a need to display a username in a question and I need to parse it out of the recipients email address. I did not see any way to do this in standard Q so I decided to use JS to do it. Here is my code. ``` var str = "${m://Email1}"; var substrings = str.split("@",2); console.log (str); console.log (substrings.length); console.log (substrings[0]); console.log (substrings[1]); Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData(\\"userID\\",substrings[0]); ``` The code runs and does what I expect expect I can not get it to change the value of the "userID" field if I add the code to the same block where the variable is used. I have tried to put it in the Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload and I see it execute in the console log but the value displayed in the question is not the value passed in by the JS code. The only way I can get it to work properly is to load the code on a prior block in the survey. Questions: Is there an easier way to parse this string inside the sur

Data Import - Coming in as a different language

I've uploaded data a bit and have never had an issue. Today I went to upload data and it came in as Chinese. I uploaded an English CSV file with multiple columns/rows and it read it as Chinese with 1 cell. I've recreated the file from new to make sure the original was not corrupted. Before I call Customer Support I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm hoping for a simple solution.

How to embed data based on IP adress and redirect survey to start again with embedded data

To sketch the situation: I would ask a survey on three different tablets and I need to know from which tablet it comes. I would automatically want the survey to restart again for a new respondent but I also want to know on which tablet it was filled out. Do I have to make three identical surveys (one per tablet) and then combine the data OR is there a way to have 1 survey (with 1 link) and yet I would know on which tablet the person filled out the survey in my analysis. I do not have the take survey offline option. (Additional question: depending on the tablet can I also change the survey background, for example if taken on tablet 1 then pink background, if else green background). When exporting TSV-file, questions language changes from Finnish to English

When I download TSV-to my computer, questions language in the first row changes to English. In survey options language is Finnish. Questionnaire is traslated to five different language. How do I download TSV-file in which questions are written in english?

Why would an embedded data variable not show up when exported on Legacy?

When exporting data via Legacy format, there are 3 embedded data variables we use that consistently export with blank data. They are named "segmentM", "segmentP" and "segmentS". Values are just a number between 1 and 7. There is clearly data in the dataset as it can be seen in the "Data and Analysis" screen, but when exporting to SPSS or CSV all the values are blank. When I export via "Download Data Table" (not Legacy), the values export just fine. Can anyone think of a reason for this? Thanks.

Error message in javascript

I am trying to implement http://mgto.org/quick-qualtrics-tricks-3-scale-results-calculation/ for the SF-36 (a standard physical and mental health questionnaire). I get an error when I add the javascript setting a variable to an answer from a survey question. This leads to an error message on saving of the javascript of "Invalid JavaScript! You cannot save until you fix all errors: Unexpected token { Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function() { var pf1 = ${q://QID13/ChoiceDescription/1}; }); Could anybody advise?

How to save privacy sensitive data separately?

Hello, I am constructing a drug survey at the moment. As a reward my participants can take part in a lottery in order to win a voucher. My problem is that I am not allowed to have data about drug use combined with their Name or E-Mail adress (for teb lottery). So my question: Is there any possibility to have a question at the end of the survey that asks for data which is then kept separately from the rest of the survey, so that one cannot retrace the answers via the e-mail of the respondant. Why does generating test responses ignore cutom validation on a constant sum question?

Hi Q Community, I hope someone can help. I have two variables in a constant sum question: full-time and part-time in which I ask for the number of employees in a business. I've set custom validation on each variable so that the response must be greater than or equal to zero. When I generate test responses, I get a message "Warning: custom validation on QID195 was not applied for Test survey". Validation of subsequent questions depends on responses to this question, so I want to force survey takers to answer it, and custom validation is the only way I can see to do that on constant sum questions (I can't use "must total" because I don't have a value for this). What am I missing? Thanks
