Using Javascript and setEmbeddedData to store answer to question containing apostrophe

Hello - Not sure how to properly do this.I have a question where one of my dropdown selections contains an apostrophe.I need to store that answer to an embedded data field using Javascript.Is there a proper way to do that? Does that need to be encoded, and if so what is the proper way to format that?e.g., result (location) is:O’Connor BldgQualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData('LOC', location);(the above isn't working for me)Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Cindy

TimePicker does not save the time entered by the respondent in Qualtrics Survey Report

Hello y'all,I am asking my respondents to enter the time that they do a specific activity during the day/night so I ended up adding a timePicker which honestly does not look good as I guess I had to put it in the question section of the "text entry" question.Also, to double-check the question I published my survey and answered that specific question and although the survey's response counter goes up by one, the time that I entered in that TimePicker question does not show up in the Qualtrics report. It is totally BLANk as if no one answered it.I have been searching a lot for a good step-by-step method of creating a TimePicker question in Qualtrics but have been unsuccessful.I would appreciate the help as I have no experience with Java whatsoever.Best,Mo

How to configure DKIM in Linux CentOS 6.10 with BIND9

Hello,We're having an issue implementing DKIM in our organization to use custom FROM email addresses. We are not familiar with DKIM evidently. Anyone willing to help us figure out what we're doing wrong.Our IT team went to lengths to let me know what they've done, see below:Our external DNS runs on a Linux server running the CentOS 6.10 operating system and BIND 9. DNS entries are maintained by editing the zone file in the /var/named directory and then restarting the named daemon.In this case I edited the zone file to include the TXT record you provided:qualtrics._domainkey.universitydomain.edu TXT "v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=......thescretcodegoeshere......."DNS itself it pretty straightforward. I don't know if there is more to what it means to "publishing."I already went back and forth with Qualtrics support (Ticket ID: 8MG0171F7OOL) and their support doesn't extend to helping us with validating our DNS setup. Any help would be appreciate it!

Force Response on Matrix Tables

Hello, I am building a survey on Qualtrics which uses matrix tables. I have forced response for the table. However, it is not always clear to respondents if one question within the table has been accidentally missed. I would like to have an error message that pops up to flag which of the questions within the matrix table they have not answered. Is this possible with custom code? Currently, I only receive an error message for the whole table ("please answer this question"). Thank you!

How to install autoplay and invisible controls video

Hi all, I am really struggling installing autoplay for a video I copied from one of my other surveys. Also I want my participants to not be able to pause, forward and replay this video. I read a lot of other rubrics already but nothing I try seems to work properly. Currently I am using this code:https://portsmouthpsych.eu.qualtrics.com/*FILEURL*" type="video/mp4">This way, the video does start playing automatically when I am editing the survey (also the controls are not visible), but it doesn't work in the preview or the published version. Did anyone else experience the same thing or can someone help me with this?

Making viewing window bigger

Hello, How can I make the window that presents the survey bigger or wider? I am not sure what the window or box is called. It's the white box in the middle. It may appear ok in this picture, but when I present a lot of info (e.g., a MCQ matrix), it looks weird. The actual space that the matric covers is way smaller compared to the blank space. Locking a text field after the respondent has provided an answer

Hello,I have been trying to include some JS code to lock the text field after a response has been entered, but I have only managed to lock the text field altogether (i.e. respondents just can't enter any text). This is the code I tried, which I found on a different thread:Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function() { jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" .InputText").prop("readonly", true);});I tried different ways to modify it to become "read only" as long as not empty, but to no success. Going back to previous question/block without allowing changing previous response

Hi guys! I want to make a survey such that:participants can go back to previous questions: this is already achieved through [Survey Option] - [back button]participants can see their selected answers but CANNOT change them I found this thread very helpful https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/3848/restrict-changing-past-answers which used a genius way that somehow "freeze" a question when the "next" button on that page is clicked. It basically defines a piece of embedded data "Flag1" as an indicator, andWhile it works perfectly for multiple choice question, this methed seems not to work with sliders and text entries (and probably some others). I suppose some slight adjustment should make it work. Sadly, I know basically nothing about JQuery and very little about Javascript, so I really don't understand what exactly is going on there.Does anyone have any suggestions?

Change display text in drill down with javascript

Hello,Is there a way to change the text of a specific "layer" of a drill down text with javascript?I have a drill down where people choose a Workshop category first then the Workshop topic then the Workshop date but I also have a 4th layer that has only 1 option that has text that I want to change from the user's view. The actual choice text is a zoom link that I need to store but I don't want to show that to them yet. It will be emailed to them later. Is this possible?

Create Variable to Count Multiple Completes

I'm setting up a survey with authentication and it allows respondents to complete the survey multiple times. Every time the respondent complete the survey, they will be redirected to the survey again for a second round, then a third around. They will collect a badge for every completion. After they collect three badges, they will be eligible for rewards. So we would like to count how many times a respondent has completed the survey (the number of badges collected). I tried embed variables (e.g., recipient response count) in the metadata but none of them worked. What will be the best solution to count the number of multiple completes? What will be the custom code for calculating the distinct count?

Easy way for respondent to tick lots of horizontal checkboxes quickly in a side-by-side question?

I have a side by side question with lots of horizontal checkboxes. (I'm pretty tied to this layout)The respondent may have to tick lots of boxes in a row e.g. all of the highlighted boxes below - which could be quite painful for the respondent.Is there a way using JavaScript for a respondent to be able to complete the question quickly.e.g. could they click one box and then when they click on a second box it selects all of the boxes in between?e.g. or could they hold down, say the shift keyor some other way??

I get an unexpected page break after questions with javascript

I have written some simple scripts to act in the place of display logic as it does not work for what I am trying to do (in page logic based on embedded data), but although my scripts work as expected, I get an unexpected pagebreak mid-block after my set of javascripted questions. This breaks my survey as all the questions in a block must appear on the same page. Edit Equation in the Total Box for Constant Sums

Hi all, Is there any way to edit the equation of the total box in constant sum questions? For example, instead of the total box showing [X+Y], I'd like it to show [X-Y]. I know I could just have my respondents input a negative number for "Y", but they fill out this survey regularly and have always input a positive number for Y. Right now, I have it as a text entry matrix where the respondents have to manually input the total and it always ends up being a little off. Thanks in advance!

Side-by-side question and JS help please!

Hi everyone,I'm a bit rusty on Qualtrics and am not across programming, so I'm hoping you might be able to provide some help please!I've been trying to figure out how to present a question where we want respondents to complete details of each segment of their journeys. I'll use display logic to show the relevant day(s) (Monday - Sunday) and then we want them to choose the following for each segment of their journey - mode (e.g. walk, car etc) and time taken (dropdown for number of hours + another dropdown for number of minutes). For example, someone who walked to a bus stop, then took the bus, then walked to their destination, would need to complete the mode, time - hours and time - minutes for three segments - the walk to the bus, the bus ride and the walk from the bus to the destination. I have set this out as a side-by-side question as follows:I'd love to know how to make this look neater! I know I can use javascript to hide the column lines so that everything under Segment 1 appear
