JavaScript Embedded Data Inconsistencies

Hi all, I created a question using JavaScript to capture three values and the running total per row (each row will be a county the user selects in a previous question). The JavaScript is set to save the embedded data as {County} - the question name - Brief/Intermediate/Extended/Total. The JavaScript is correctly saving all four entries for each individual response in the Data & Analysis tab. However, when I export the results, there are four columns for each county that are the same value and titled {County} - the question name - Total. The export isn’t saving the Brief, Intermediate, and Extended values the user entered and is overwriting those to save the Total values four times instead of once. Why are the two sets of embedded data different? And how do I get the data export embedded data to be the same as the embedded data in the individual response?

I would like to create a embedded data if a question is not answered it is optional

I was trying to setup a branch if this question = empty but it is not an option. So how do you create embedded data if they did not answer the question? I have embedded data figured out if they answer the question.

Embedded data automatically answering survey response

I am updating an existing survey to start passing embedded data from a url to automatically answer a pre-existing question. For example, if the url parameter is ?member=yes, then it would answer the yes/no question “Are you a member?” with a yes response. AND I would also like that if the url answers that question, it would not be displayed. So far, I have my display logic set so that the “are you a member” question does not appear if the embedded data is present, but do not know how to automatically answer the question with that url parameter. Or, if I can’t automatically answer the question, how to combine the answers from the embedded data to the survey responses.

Piped text of an image by using embedded data by using randomization

Deactivate single personalized survey links

We need a way to invalidate specific survey links, such as when a customer has been invited by mistake. In such cases, it is essential that the customer cannot use the survey link, as this could lead to reporting inaccuracies caused by data that should not have been collected in the first place. It is important to note that we do not want to deactivate the entire survey project or stop the response collection altogether. Instead, we only want to deactivate individual links. Currently, we manage this issue using one of the following manual methods: Waiting for Expiration: We wait until the survey link naturally expires, then manually check whether a response has been submitted by the relevant customer. If a response exists, we delete it from the reporting. Manual Completion and Deletion: Alternatively, we quickly complete the survey ourselves and immediately delete the resulting data. Showing Indivisual Results after click submit.

We are creating scoring in the Qualtrics Survey. There are three categories for students to respond to. There are five questions for each category. How do I let students know their scoring results after they click submit? I am hoping to have the following message at the end of the survey: Thank you for your submission. Providing scoring at the end of a survey

For the scoring we need a score out of 4 to appear in our debrief. Our responses are recorded on a slider question type within a loop and merge. They answer this question for four trials In target present trials (Condition Type 1), there are six options - all different variables. The decision is correct (gets a score of 1) if the maximum response out of six = the response to the target. Any other decision gets 0. In type 1 conditions, they are correct if the target gets a rating of 51 and above. Regardless of what others get. In target 2 requirements, they are incorrect if the innocent suspect gets a score of more than 51. Anything else is correct. Above 51+ = Identifier, 50- = Rejector Condition Type 1 requirements 3 steps So we need the coding to calculate the maximum confidence value from six responses first. COMPUTE X = MAX(A, B, C, D, E, F) Then determine if target confidence = the maximum. COMPUTE Y = X-B. Compute Qualtrics to recognise which out of A,B, C, D, E, F is the target

JS-controlled Next button not showing up anymore

I have an active survey and today there are suddenly people reporting a new issue. There’s a page where they watch a tv episode, and when the episode is over the Continue button appears so they can continue to the post-video questions (buttons shows when video is actually finished playing, or if they cheat and drag vimeo scrubber to end and wait for the full time to elapse). Today, the last two people to take the survey have not been shown the continue button and they’re stuck. One is on Chrome, one is on Safari, both are on Mac. A lot of my participants have been on Mac (including me) and this hasn’t happened before. on the responses in progress data, it shows the last question answered as the last question on the page before the tv episode. When the Safari person emailed me I was sure it was probably a browser extension conflict, but then in the data I saw another person stuck on the same question in Chrome, so an extension seems less probable? Adding an additional lookup field in Data and Analysis for reporting

We have a new Sub Division tag for our customers that we also want to use in Qualtrics which is at account number level (account number is held in Qualtrics). What is the best way for me to get the sub division into Qualtrics against the historic records and also to be attached to new records. The records are uploaded via Salesforce workflow integration but Salesforce doesn’t hold this “sub division” so the lookup would be against another data set at account number level once uploaded into Qualtrics via the workflow. I assume this would be done in the data and analysis element of the campaign but it would also need to be a field visible in the Dashboards for filtering etc.

How to create text on a slider bar tooltip?

I have created a survey where respondents use a slider for 45 different statements to provide their choice. The tooltip on the slider are the numerical values. (1,2,3,4,5). I would like the tooltip to show the text (disagree, somewhat disagree, neutral, somewhat agree, agree) instead of the values (1,2,3,4,5) so the respondents remember what the values are meant to be as they go through all items. Any advice on how to accomplish this would be very much appreciated.

Automate daily excel (or CSV) export to email

Has anyone figured out a method to setup a process to automatically export the raw data in Excel (or CSV) and send to a specified email address on a daily or weekly basis. I know you can do this if the data is sent to an sftp, but my organization doesn’t allow for that option. I’ve searched through previous questions and can’t find a good solution. I do not want a report or a topline. I’m looking for the raw data file that you can export under the Data & Analysis tab manually.

Creating a Visual Analog Scale

I am trying to create a Visual Analog Scale that looks like the following: I’ve reviewed previous posts, and it looks like I need to use a Constant Sum question with javascript. The issue I’m trying to figure out is how to add the question above the lines. For example, adding “How hungry do you feel” above the first line. thanks.

I have a block with 2 groups + 8 questions in each, how can I show a random 5 questions from each group?

Hi, not sure if my question will make much sense but if anyone can come up with a solution please let me know. I’m new to qualtrics and most stuff I have picked up as I've been making my survey but here's the one thing that's stumped me. I have a block which has 21 questions and these questions are part of their own ‘groups’ (they're not grouped or anything in their blocks though, not sure if that's possible?) group 1 has 5 questions which I want participants to see all of group 2 has 8 questions and I want participants to see a random 5 of them group 3 has 8 questions and I want participants to see a random 5 of them. I have worked out the advanced randomisation tool, but of course if I put the 16 questions into the random subset part and told it to generate 10 questions it could end up generating 8 from group 2 and 2 from group 3 I would like the questions to be presented on the same page and randomly mixed up if possible. Hope this makes sense, if anyone has a solution for this plea

Slider question with 2 statements. Observer mutation only working for 1 statement

Hello, I hope someone here can help. I am creating a slider style question in Qualtrics, that includes two statements within the question. The participant is required to provide a range of a total cost. Each statement (slider) represents a bound for the estimation. Slider 1 is the lowest bound, and Slider 2 is the highest bound for their cost estimate. I want the number in each statement to be converted to increments of 10,000, and have a $ added. I have applied a mutation observer in JavaScript, which multiplies the result by 10,000, and add a $ symbol, to represent increments of $10,000 for each increment. Future Date Validation

Trying to compare entered date to embedded data date and make sure the entered date is after the embedded data date. This is being applied in a Loop and Merge block. Things are mostly working, but for some reason dates entered in 2025 are NOT being allowed, even if they should be passing the validation. Validation settings are as follows: Current loop, entered date, Matched Regex for mm/dd/yyyy: ^(0[1-9]|1[0-2])/(0[1-9]|[12]\d|3[01])/(19|20)\d{2}$ AND Current loop date entered “is greater than” embedded data date, defined at the beginning of the survey in survey flow as: ‘Plus14 = ${date://OtherDate/m%2Fd%2FY/+14%20day}’ Validation properly fails when dates are entered within 14 days of today, provided they are in 2024. Dates after 12/31/2024 also fail, but should be allowed to pass...

Ticket email notification based on date in ticket data

I’m building out a form for our Compliance team to track Official Complaints. These responses will generate tickets to help them track the progress of these complaints. I know the ticket workflows are able to send out reminder emails based on Created Time and Last Updated Time. But I’m trying to send out an email reminder when a date “Response Due” is in 7 days. I’m not sure if there’s a way to do this with the ticket workflows or with a normal workflow. Thanks!

Flagging a response

Hi all, I'm brand new to qualtrics (started last week for uni) and I’m making a survey within which there are several check points for withdrawing from the survey (skipping to “end of survey”). Is there a way of flagging withdrawn responses so that when it comes to analysis they can be easily spotted (not having to trawl through each response) and subsequently deleted? I was thinking embedded data around each checkpoint flagging the specific response to withdraw. Is this the best way?

Improving response rates for email survey invites

Hi, We are struggling with lower response rates to our Qualtrics email survey invites (5%) compared to 2-way SMS (10%). Have read some articles on this that give tips on how to improve like this one https://www.qualtrics.com/experience-management/research/tools-increase-response-rate/ but so far not having a notable impact and we don’t have budget at this time for prize draws/incentivisation. Does anyone have any advice please on what wording to use for subject line and the email itself to boost response rates. Thanks, Nick

Remove N/A from matrix in a response report

I have a question where I’m using text entry in a matrix table. When viewing the response report (${srr://SingleResponseReportLink?ttl=0}), cells without data contain “N/A”. Is there a way to keep those cells blank? The “N/A” is distracting when trying to read the real data.

Add table with aligned columns of equal width to question text

Hi Qualtrics community! I have a multiple choice question that uses loop and merge to display 100 message pairs. For each pair, one message is the English source message and the other is the machine translation of that message. I would like to display these messages next to eachother in the question text to make it easy for the respondents to compare the messages. However, when I use a table to display the messages next to eachother, the widths of the ‘message 1’ and ‘message 2’ columns vary (see screenshot below). Is there a way to make sure the widths of these two columns are always 50%? In addition, I’m looking for a way to align the sentences in these columns. See the screenshot below for an example of what I mean by “sentence-aligned”. The sentences are separated by </br>’s in the loop and merge, but I can easily replace these separators by something else if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Constant Sum Default Choices

I have multiple constant sum questions asking the same question about at different time periods. I am trying to make the default choices for all questions to be the same as the first constant sum question so it might be easier for respondents to make minor changes if relevant. Unfortunately, I am getting an issue with the piped text where it is adding an additional 0 to the end of the number (see screenshots). I checked the default choices in the text box and removed the 0 that is there as a place holder, (default choices code for one box: ${q://QID1/ChoiceNumericEntryValue/1} Is there any way to stop the extra 0 from appearing?

Workflow email triggers sending at wrong time

I’d be really grateful for some guidance on the following: I would like my survey recipients to recieve a string of emails after they first sign up via survey 1 (i.e., emailing link to survey 2 immediately, then emailing link to survey 3 after 2 days, then survey 4 after 7 days, then survey 5 after 9 days, then 14 days etc). The email would contain a link to a new survey each time. I have set up my workflow from within survey 1 but when testing this, despite setting the time (see image 1 below), the email is sent much sooner, typically 2 days after instead of 14 days, and before the emails that are supposed to come earlier. I’ve checked the workflow structure (image 2), and the timings for each email send appear to be in the right order and right time, but this isn’t what happens in practice. Solutions for sending survey invitation WITHOUT attached any website links

Hi guys, There is an issue I would like to ask for everyone's experience with. In my country, there is a regulation that businesses are not allowed to send emails to customers containing any website links, to prevent potential fraud. This significantly impacts survey collection on Qualtrics. With your experience, are there any other ways or channel to send survey invitations to customers without violating the above regulation?
