Has anyone tried using javascript with a timing type question? A timing question allows you to enter javascript code, however it just seems to never run. Is this something to do with the fact that with a timing question, nothing gets displayed to the user?

I have a survey where respondents drag and drop items to groups in a PGR question, and have set validation such that an exact number of items is allowed in each group. Of course, if a respondent places more or less groups than the exact number allowed in each one, they'll get an error message upon trying to go to the next page. However, we're interested in two things: a) showing respondents exactly how many items they've already included in each group as they're dragging and dropping, and b) if possible, showing an error message whenever more items are added to a group than allowed (i.e. in real-time, before the respondent even clicks on the "next" button). Right now, we're actually using the PGR question to have people categorize into groups, where the ranking within each group does not matter at all, and as such I made the "ranking" that shows up for an item when it's dragged into a group to be hidden. The challenge I am facing is this: After participants completed the questionnaire, I intend to present them with a report on what their "partner" (actually a programme) has indicated for each of the items on the same questionnaire. In the similarity condition, this report will show that the partner's responses are similar to the participant's. This report will show that all of the partner's responses are only 1 point away from what was indicated by the participant and are on the same side of the scale. For example, let 1 be "completely disagree" and 6 be "completely agree". If the participant chose a 5 on an item, then the subsequent report will show that the partner chose either a 4 or a 6 for the same item. Hello, I have a multiple choice question where you can submit multiple answers. I want to count the number of answers selected in a previous question and save it in an embedded data field for later use. The first part of this is what I am having problems with. I have got to the point where I can save the text of the choices, but not yet any further: ${q://QID368/ChoiceGroup/SelectedChoices} This displays (when used as piped text in a later question) the text of the checked answers, but I just want to count them. Is there a documentation which contains all the possible branches/elements behind ChoiceGroup/... or even QID368/... etc. ? Also I don't quite know where to debug/fiddle with things in general. Currently I use the Firefox console, where I could view the JavaScript code of my question (due to an error I believe). But now I can't access that anymore. I am new Qualtrics and have little experience with JavaScript. Thanks for any help!

Thanks to @TomG, I've managed to get the handle on a slider in my survey to be hidden until the respondent clicks anywhere on the track of the slider itself, with the below: `var q = jQuery("#"+this.questionId); q.find(".handle").hide(); q.find(".track").on("click", function() { jQuery(this).find(".handle").show(); });` While this works great to ensure there is no visual "default" on a slider to anchor the respondent, once the track of the slider is clicked, the handle of the slider shows up on the very left of the slider, so the respondent has to click again to where they initially clicked on the slider (assuming that's where they wanted to place the handle) and then that sort of already becomes the default. So we'd like to go an extra step and have the handle of the slider show up wherever the respondent has first clicked on the track. Newbie with an urgent question here. I included a video from my files library in a survey, but the video won't display in a cell phone when it's in the portrait mode (you can't see the play button). Only when you put the cell phone in the landscape mode can the video be displayed properly. Is there any way to have the video display properly however the respondents use their cellphone? Hi everybody, I am looking for a solution in qualtrics to display the number of entered words into a text entry field to the study participant. I already found a JS code that kind of does what I want. With the code in this thread I can display the number of words, however, only on the same page (and same question) as the text entry field is. I however want the word count to be displayed on the next page. Is it possible to change the code so that I can display the number of words entered into a text entry field on the next page? And: Is it possible to display the cumulative word count of several text entry fields of prior pages? I hope I expressed myself clearly enough for somebody to help - I am no coding expert at all! Hello all, At the moment I'm struggling with a Side-by-Side question. In the first column I have two subcolumns where a name and emailaddress can be keyed in. In the second column I have a Multiple Choice option for Yes or No. This works so far. Now I want to retake the response and want to set all options the second column to 'False' (= empty) in stead of displaying the selected choise of the previous response. In the screenshot below it's the column 'Send e-mail?' should all be empty. Or the column 'No' should be selected by default. ! How can this be done? What Javascript should I use? I've tried this with: this.setChoiceValue(1, 1, false); but this did not work. Thanks in advance

In my survey I have several Constant Sum questions where 3 choices are visable. I would like to give each bar their own color. Now they are all green. But I would like to have i.e. the first bar blue, the second one orange and the 3rd one red. How can I setup colors in this kind of questions? See the screenshot below. ! Hi, A bit of context, I am attempting to conduct a qualitative study with a pre and post survey format that is powered through qualtrics. The idea is for me to assess the participants knowledge before and after watching an educational explainer video, then compare the results. A few questions have come up: 1. Is it possible to create a pop up survey before and after participants watch a video? 2. If yes, is there a video format that works best to embed the surveys in? 3. Any other tips as to how I could achieve this? I read some things about iFrames on the community page but I am unclear if that would be applicable to my scenario. I am working on Pick, Group and Rank question type wherein i want to use the selected drag and drop choices in the same rank order as answer options to the following slider bar question. I would like to have several sliders on one page but in various positions. (I do not mean the starting value of each slider, but the position of the slider itself, so that sliders are not vertically aligned.) This CSS-Code ("Look and Feel" - "advanced" - "Add Custom CSS") does the job, but for all sliders in the survey at once: .Skin .horizontalbar { margin: 2em 0.5px 0.5px 0.5px; position: relative; left: 500px; } Is there a way to change the position for each slider seperately? (Via CSS in "Look and Feel" or Javascript?)

For one of my surveys, I have a block with 19 sliders, each in its own question of that block. For all intents and purposes, other than some descriptive text, each slider is identical to every other slider on that block, and I have the same jQuery and Javascript code on all of them. Essentially, the code works to prevent respondents from sliding on the slider past the value 50, even though the max value on the slider itself is 100. They all work fine and dandy, but I have one last slider on a different block of the survey that shows up _after_ the block with this first batch of sliders. For this one, respondents are allowed to slide anywhere from 0 to 100 (the min and max values of the slider). Otherwise, they all have the same code to hide the handle on the slider until the respondent has clicked on the track of the slider. I’d like to present several clips. Immediately after a particular clip is viewed, the survey automatically advances to the next page where the respondent answers questions. Next, another clip is presented. After that clip is viewed, the survey again advances to the next page where the respondent answers more questions. The NEXT button is hidden since I do not wish the respondents to skip watching the videos. The problem is that the code works perfectly if I have only a single video in my survey, but if I include a second video, the survey does not advance to the next screen once that second video is completed. There is also no initial alert, which suggests that the event calls for the second video do not execute. I’m hoping that you could help me figure out where I’ve gone wrong and correct the problem. An issue has arisen in a number of my surveys that use QRT Engine to capture response times (they’re old surveys but I’m midway through a study so I can’t change the design). The issue is that the text box in the image below does not load for this item of the survey. As a result, participants are unable to enter a rating. I noticed that a response to my question (i.e., https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/955/registering-key-presses#latest) was accepted as an answer. However, my I'm still unable to register key-presses. My problem was as follows: I used to use javascript in qualtrics to let respondents to respond by an 'h' or 'l' key-press on the keyboard. Apparently qualtrics made some changes in the program as it does not register the specific key that respondents pressed in the data file. I've contacted qualtrics support about this. They directed me to this forum for help. Can somebody advice me how to make qualtrics to register key-presses and continue to the fallowing question? @LauerenK recommended to check out two posts (i.e., https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/899/0/#Form_Comment, and https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/comment/3606#Comment_3606). All of a sudden the next buttons on the instruction pages of my surveys have disappeared. I have no knowledge of javascript, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help either recover the button or, alternatively, add some extra code so that a key press "clicks" to the next page. No data is required from this page so a simple hotkey might do the trick. I have a slider fro 0 to 100, but want to make it so that respondents can only drag the slider halfway from the left (so really only allow 0-50). It's important though that 51-100 are visible, which is why of course we don't just make the slider from 0-50. I've tried several different ways, including resetting the value of the slider back to 50 if it's ever dragged to 51 or beyond. It may be that I didn't implement the syntax for the Javascript correctly but neither that nor any of the other code I have found online that tries to manipulate the value of a slider seems to work. Is there a way to do this? Ideally some jQuery on the question for the UI of the slider would not even allow the handle on the slider to be dragged beyond 50 at all, but if that's not possible, then just some lines of code that works to both get and set the value of the slider (so that I can trigger it if the value of the slider goes beyond 50, to reset back to 50) would be great. Would the correct condition be the following: Question > Question Name > Question Text > Matches RegEx > /(term1)|(term2)|(term3)|.../(termn)/gi/ Does the RegEx need to be preceded by anything other than "/"? do the end flags (g/i) need to be followed by "/"? I’d like to add a background image to a general message in my Messages library that the Authentication Prompt Text points to. I have been successful in adding some CSS to the Message file’s source code to make the background image appear how I want it to when I view it in the Messages Library. However, when I go to look at it in the web browser, the background image does not appear (have tried saving, refreshing my Qualtrics account, refreshing the browser page, using a private window, using different browsers, etc.). I was thinking maybe I just needed to put the code in the Look & Feel/Advanced Custom CSS area, but that didn’t work either. The other complication is that I want this background image to appear ONLY on the authentication page. I have VERY limited knowledge of CSS and HTML.
