Hi all, I'm looking for directions as I (have to) start using java. I'm programming an experiment where participants will be asked to repeatedly choose between two options called A and B. What would you prefer between these two options? Option A: xx amount of dollars at time [time level], Option B: yy amount of dollars at time [time level], where the time level is randomly picked from five levels. Becas where the time level of option A is randomly picked from three levels [now, 1 week from now, 2 weeks from now] and the time level of option B is randomly picked from five levels [1 week from now, ... , 5 weeks from now]. Furthermore, the time level of Option B must always be greater than the time level of Option B [e.g. if A=1week then B>1week]. This design ended up to be too complicated to be managed within the Qualtrics Survey Flow, so my only way out is to write some lines of java in each question. I want to have a question where respondents give their answer in thousands of dollars. To format this question, I'm following the advice given in the following discussion on how to add static text before and after a text entry box: https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/102/how-to-add-static-text-after-a-text-entry-box In my case this involves adding a dollar sign before and three zeros after. This works fine on desktop, however on mobile the static text refuses to display on the same line as the text box (as seen below). As far as I can tell, this is because the width of the text box is automatically set to 100%. Even if I set the width myself with javascript and it works properly on desktop , the width is automatically set to 100% on mobile. Any suggestions on how to resolve this will be greatly appreciated! !

Hello, I am creating a survey where I ask participants to search online for some unique URL image links and to enter them in 200 text entry question. I would like to set up a java code that helps me to avoid identical text entries (i.e., subjects can copy paste the same links for many times). I could set up custom validation on each of the questions that it will only pass if what they enter is not equal to the text entry value for any of the previous questions( by using a piped text) but I was wondering whether there is a java code for this? Second, the text entry must contain "https://" or something like that so that it has to be a link. Is it possible to do it with a java code? If I use a regex how should the expression look like? Hi, I am trying to create a custom question where participants highlight segments of text and answer questions about the text. I had the following questions about JavaScript capabilities in Qualtrics: Can we use our own Javascript libraries? Can we AJAX POST to external API or use our own AWS server/endpoint? Hi, I am using 'default choices' to display fields from embedded data in text boxes in a matrix table. Some of the entries from the embedded data are long than the width of the text box. I want the font size in the table in this question to be smaller than the font size in the rest of the survey. How can I decrease the font size of the entries in the table? If this is possible, can I decrease the font size for an individual cell, row or column in the matrix table or does it need to apply to all cell/row/columns? Thanks!

I'm using a Table of Contents with The canned Qualtrics themes "Minimal - Blue" and/or "Blank (For Styling)." I have the TOC sidebar enabled. When users view the survey with large monitors, the sidebar automatically opens after a block loads, even if the user previously closed it. This is disorienting. Is there script I can add that will keep the sidebar always closed unless the user manually opens it by clicking the sidebar (hamburger) button? !

Has anyone created a custom code to be able to reuse items when using Drag and Drop? There will up to 20 items that can be sorted into 10 boxes, and I want respondents to be able to put a single item in more than one box. Thank you!

Hi there, Our Qualtrics surveys redirect to our website on completion, passing the SurveyID and ResponseID to the landing page, and we need to display some aggregate information pulled from the response on the resulting page that the respondent sees. I've looked into using the v3 CreateResponseExport API, but aside from being a huge amount of developer work (three requests, handling zipped files, parsing data files that could contain many thousands of records) it is also way too slow to be usable for displaying an immediate response to a site user. I would dearly love for a GetResponse API action to be added, which takes a ResponseID and returns the response data - this seems such an obvious use-case, that I find it hard to believe it is not in the v3 API! However, I have found that it _does_ exist in v2.5 of the API, as getLegacyResponseData. Therefore, I have been attempting to test whether this gives us what we need, at an acceptable speed. Hi all, I would like to develop a questionnaire in two languages. In each question, there will be two boxes, one for each language. Will it be possible for me to only show one box (representing one particular language) and hide the other? So, when my participant wants to look at other languages they can press a bottom (for example) which then unhide the other box containing the other language. Thank you, Best Regards, Sherly

Hi, Some background: I am using the Like/Dislike Hot Spot question to turn a paper survey into an interactive online survey. I used the hot spot question because it allows me to make custom buttons on a custom graphic (the original paper survey jpegs). It's going to be given to children pre-K - 5th grade so the larger "click response area" is ideal, but the green/red color response is not. Green and red inherently imply right and wrong; which signals to the student correct/incorrect, even though that is not what it actually means in this case. We used the like/dislike option because we need two response options. I want to be able to customize the color of the responses on the customer/participant facing side of a Hot Spot question. I was hoping to write some custom code to turn the response a light grey color. This way they can see that they've selected it, but not have any indicator of correctness. Hello! I am trying to display a text entry question (only question on the page) for a maximum of 30 seconds. If a response is not entered within 30 seconds, the question will automatically advance. If a response is entered, I would like the next button to appear so that the user does not need to wait until the 30 seconds are up before going to the next page. I was able to use JavaScript to hide the next button (thanks to a different discussion thread); however, I have not been able to figure out how to make the next button appear in response to a key press (i.e., when the user types something in response to the text entry question on the page). Hi, I've made a lot of custom code using javascript across many questions in my Qualtrics survey. Each of the questions uses the same variable and since the variable is an extremely long list of names and for the sake of neatness I want to make a global variable such that custom code in each question will call upon this variable without having to input into each questions custom code section. These questions cannot be combined to a set of multiple form fields. They must all have separate question IDs. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I use the v3 API under the login of a group user account to pull in data from several surveys, most of which are owned by another account. Most of the time I pass the lastResponseId parameter to increase the response time, especially on surveys with a lot of responses. I have never had an issue with this method until now. I have a survey that allows me to download the full data set, but when I attempt to pass it a lastResponseId I get the following 400 Response: "meta": { "httpStatus": "400 - Bad Request", "error": { "errorMessage": "lastResponseId not found.", "errorCode": "PRE_9" }, I have been testing within the Qualtrics testing sandbox here: https://api.qualtrics.com/docs/create-response-export Other surveys I test in here are successful, it is only this survey. Hi, I am looking to validate using a row totals for each column in a side by side question. Each column total is different e.g. Column 1 total must be less than or equal to 240 and Column 2 total must be less than or equal to 300. This repeats for Columns 3 (240) and 4 (300) -- see graphic. ! I want the respondents to be shown that the total in the Columns are correct (green) or wrong (red) e.g. If in Column 1 the total number of minutes of each location is above 240-minutes the total will flag red.
