How to Randomly Present Values from Multiple Text Entry Boxes

 I was wondering about the process of randomly presenting values from multiple text entry boxes for different questions. To provide an example, I plan to ask participants to list five people they interact with. Afterward, I would like to ask additional questions about one person randomly selected from their list, using piped text.

Categorise scores

I have a a scoring system set up that outputs scores 0-50. For the purpose of data analysis and making graphs, I would like to categorise these into three ranges: Low, Moderate, High. I’ve tried ‘bucketing’ etc. but it won’t allow me to bucket scores, only fields.Is there a way to do this in Qualtrics? Ie. create a new variable called ‘level’ which outputs: Low, Moderate, High based on the score.Thank you.

Exclusively is "x" just broke my visualization

Hi,I have a bar graph visualization showing “value for money” over time filtered by the different experiences we offer. The visualizations were working if the filter was set to exclusively is “x experience”, but that has recently stopped working and I am getting an unexpected error. I could understand if there was no data for a single week, but I know this existed before!Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Responses In Progress

When viewing “response in progress” under the “data & analysis” tab, does anyone know if it is possible to change the survey session ID to show something more meaningful than a mix of alphanumeric characters, or somehow display an additional field showing (say) company name or hover-over option maybe ?

Use matrix answers in rank order question

I have a matrix where respondents select what times they are available to teach a class:  I then want to create a rank order question where they can rank their preference among the times they have selected. Here is a mock up of what I want, since I can’t get it to work:  When I attempt to use piped text, it, as expected, lists all answers from the matrix as a single choice for ranking, and only along one axis:  What I want, then, is for individual matrix answers to be concatenated along both axes and listed as independent options which users can rank, as in the mock-up. The entire matrix only requires one answer to be completed, so I can’t use piped text that assumes there will be an answer in a given row or column. Is what I want possible? Am I using the wrong question format? I have considered using pick/group/rank, but then there is a preponderance of disordered options on the screen (though perhaps there are ways around that). I’m sure JS could be useful, but I’m not particularly g

Survey flow logic for supplemental data in question to mark embedded data as review/not review

 What do I need to adjust in the logic shown in the image above so that if a respondent DID select an option in a drop-down question that pulls from my supplemental data source it would not mark it dbProcessed=review? Basically I want any newly entered text responses to be marked for my review, but if they select something that already exists from my database, it would leave it as dbProcessed=true as I would not need to review those answers.  I have ‘Select Free Response’ checked in my text question.

Resume incomplete survey response

Hi there, I have been following these instructions to issue participants a retake link but I am hoping to use it more like something they can use to resume answering their survey if they have not completed all the questions. So, I was trying to send them an email when they start the survey but it seems like the survey is only triggered when the participant submits the survey response. Is there a way to trigger a workflow for respondent’s who have started but not completed a survey?For context, I can only use anonymous links to distribute the survey. I’d appreciate any support! Thank you!

Require 2 Decimal Places in Text Response

I am working on a survey where individuals must enter monetary values. I would like to require all responses to have two decimal places (even if it needs to be .00) to prompt all respondents to enter the “cents”.I see the option to have a “maximum” number of decimal places, but I don’t see an option for minimum number. Is there a way to require two decimal places? (As a note, the values can range from XXXX.XX all the way up to XXXXXXX.XX).Thank you for your help!

Add Loop and Merge to a Reference Block

I have a complicated question I designed (with lots of Javascript and so on) which I will reuse many times in many different surveys. It would be nice if I can centralize it so that I can update it and the update automatically applies to all of the places I’ve used it in all of my surveys. For example, if I want to put out a survey now, and later rewrite the code to make it mobile friendly, I could change the design to be responsive in just one place, and now all that question in all my surveys would be responsive.This seems like a perfect example of when I’d want to use a Reference Block. The problem is, I want to be able to present this question inside a loop and merge (i.e., I want the reference question to include ${lm://Field/1} in its text, with the loop and merge fields being survey specific), and I can’t figure out how to insert a reference block in such a way that it allows me to add a loop and merge in the target survey (rather than in the reference survey).Is there a way to

Use embedded data to retrieve images from the library

Hi guys,I have uploaded 3 sets of 6 pictures to the library. I want to have 3 blocks of 6 questions each. Each question has one picture. The questions in each block are the same but the pictures should be different. I thought I could create only one block and use embedded data to modify the links to images (e.g, /block_1_image_1.png). The problem is that the links in the library are completely meaningless (no file name included)! A dummy solution would be to create all 3 blocks manually. Another, to upload graphics to the web, but I don't want to do that. Could you tell me if there is another solution to my problem?Thanks!

Averaging data from a matrix

I have a survey with a matrix that uses the Likert scale where each respondent is to answer 6 questions using the same ranking scale of 1-5. I’m trying to take the mean of all the data values that are obtained from all 6 questions, but the statistics table in the “Report” tab is only letting me make a statistics table for one of the 6 questions that is in the matrix. How can I obtain the statistics table from the entire matrix? If not through a matrix, what are other alternatives to record all 6 answers despite being in different categories? I know I can export the data to a table in Excel, but I am looking to make a summation report of my survey through Qualtrics. Also, I don’t have the StatsIQ option under my Data & Analysis section (not sure if this is helpful information to include).

Copy project - "data validation error"

I've been trying to copy one of my surveys for the past few weeks, but everytime I try, I get this error:I get the same error when I download the QSF of the survey and try to upload it into a new project:Does anyone know what's going on? Randomization of 2*5 factorial study

Hi all,I am hoping someone could help on this.I am trying to set-up a 2*5 factorial  vignette survey. I am using the Randomizer functionality of Qualtrics to ensure that the factors measured in my study are presented to the participants randomly. I have two types of factors, one is text (n=5), and the other is an image (n=2) .Currently, I am able to use the embedded function of the randomizer and piped text to ensure that the  text-based factors were randomly presented to the participants. My challenge is on randomising the image-based factors. As the study is 2*5 factorial  design, each participants will need to see 10 vignettes. For example, vignette1 will have textfactor1 and image1, vignette2 will have textfactor2 and image2 and so on and so forth. Currently, my design works well for vignette1 and textfactor1. However, for  vignette2, instead presenting the user with image2, the randomiser shows image1. I am wondering if there is a way to tell the randomiser not to present any imag

Reminder email to unfinished respondents not sent?

Hello!I sent a reminder email to unfinished respondents in my distribution list yesterday (14 people) but somehow the email did not go through. I’ve tried twice, first one is scheduled and the second one is sent instantly, but neither was sent. It says 0 emails sent.  Does anyone know what might be happening, and how to solve this?Thank you!

Email Invites - Automatic Participant Language Detection?

We have surveys available for English and French respondents.  However, we do not know the preferred language of the respondents and, being transactional surveys, the database is very large and grows each day.I read on the Qualtrics site about “Automatic Language Detection” based on the recipient’s browser settings.  This would be what we are looking to do that as the most effective process.Specifying the Participant Language and, more specifically, Automatic Language DetectionQuestions:Have others used this for surveys and just let the recipient’s browser auto-select which language should the survey be displayed (and/ or they can manually select their language once in the survey)? Does this autodetection also work for the EMAIL INVITATION?  So, as long as there is an English and French version in place, the recipient’s browser will autoselect the correct one.Feedback?  Experience using? Thanks,

Directing respondents to a file based on responses

I want to direct respondents (my students) to a dataset based on his/her answer in a matrix question. Specifically, students will get a tailored datasets based upon their high school and last digit of their student ID. Since there’s 500 schools, this is about 5,000 different datasets that are possible.Based on a brief search, it seemed like the authenticator was one way to go where I:Upload a csv contact list with “ExternalDataReference” and a file’s web “Address” column. The external data reference column is simply a unique school name followed immediately by a 0 to 9 (the last digit of a student’s ID). This would be 5000 rows, and two columns. How to disable other options if a particular option is selected {multiple choice- multiple answer question}

I’m creating a survey in which some questions are multiple choice, multiple answer. But for some of the questions, I don’t want the participant to be able to select the other options if 1 particular option is selected. Here’s a brief example: -What type of opportunities are you looking for? Question on how to export data between T and C group

Hello everyone, I hope somebody can help me since I find myself to be a bit confused on a matter with Qualtrics. For my bachelor thesis, I just sent a survey which already got 40 responses which is constituted by a randomizer which randomly exposed the respondents to either a block or another before starting the questionnaire. This is because I need to have a Treatment and a Control group. Now that I am getting the responses, I cannot see who was exposed to which block hence I do not understand which responses belog to participants that were assigned to the C or T group. I am scared I skipped some important step, but now I have no time to change the survey all over and re-send it. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or am I just missing some kind of setting I can use to view the different responses? P.S. Stock question inserted into survey record

I created a survey, published it, and shared the link for people to fill out.  After people completed it, I clicked on “Data & Analysis” to look through the results.  When I click on the three dots of an individual row to view an individual response, I’m seeing what look like stock questions and answers inserted into my survey, and in some cases overwriting my questions.  For example: I didn’t write this question, and don’t even remember seeing it in the template that I used.  These questions don’t show up in the general results, nor the survey preview, nor really anywhere else besides the individual responses.  It seems like the question ID is conflicting with some other built-in question IDs or something.  In another question, my question was overwritten with:“Q3. Multiple choice questions come in all sorts of flavors, especially in Qualtrics. Condition on a default choice?

Hello and good afternoon from a sunny Sweden!Is there a way to set a condition on the default choice setting? So if someone answer “Yes” in a previous question, a latter multi select question is defaulted to “X”, while of someone responds “No” in the first question, they are open to select whatever they want in the subsequent multi select question.  Thanks in advance-Mattias
