How to update matrix question answers based on a subsequent question?

Hi All,I've got a page with two questions: the first (Q1) is a matrix table with a series of statements and yes/no scale points. The second question (Q2) has three fields where respondents can suggest additional statements. After this page, respondents complete a loop&merge block that pulls in all statements where the Q1 answer is "yes." If additional statements are suggested in Q2, I would like to add them to Q1 as additional statements with the answer "yes" when the page is submitted so that the loop&merge block pulls the Q2 items in as well.So far, I see that if I create three statements at the bottom of Q1 with piped text for the answers in Q2, the loop and merge will pick them up. I know how to hide these rows, and I will set the default answer to "no." What I do not know is: how do I update the answer in Q1 for relevant items from "no" to "yes" if respondents enter a suggestion in the Q2 field? (Also, will this work since these are two separate questions?)Thank you in advance for

Is it possible to randomize/create 3 unique versions of a survey?

I know this question is a little complicated so bear with me: I'm doing an experiment that involves participants reading three different passages (1,2,3) with each being either unbolded (U), semantically bolded (S), or the fixation points bolded (F). I don't want participants to read the same passage more than once, and I also don't want participants to read the same style of bolding more than once, so I have three possible combinations to work with here: 1. (1U, 2S, 3F) 2. (1S, 2F, 3U) 3. (1F, 2U, 3S). How do I make it so that participants are randomly assigned one of these three subsets of passages when completing the survey?

Enable/Disable TextEntry or Checkbox depends on Choices in DropDown List in Side by Side Question

From the image above. I want to Enable and Disable the other columns whether it is a TextEntry/Dropdown/RadioButton/Checkbox depends on my answer on the 1st column . For this example using Drop Down List. If I choose "Yes" , other columns will enable but if I choose "No" they will disable. I tried some JavaScript codes. How do I count embedded data on a report?

Hi. I have a satisfaction survey that I send out when a service is completed. When the user answers the Likert scale, the survey also captures the service type which is embedded in the link. How do I count the embedded data instead of just showing a long list of each service type? It would look something like..catcatdogcatdogbirdcatI want to see:bird 1cat 4dog 2Thanks!

How to add javascript

Hello:I'm new to qualtrics and I'm trying to figure out how to change the error message "Please answer this question" for those who don't answer a question. I know this has been discussed before, and I did see some java code for doing this - see below. But I'm not sure where to put the code. I went to general then to header, but I as under the impression that there's supposed to be a button that looks like this that one uses to add the script. But I don't see it. Some respondents report not seeing slider on some questions

Hi all,So in my survey there is a block of questions that all use sliders and also have a shown timer element (the built-in Qualtrics timer) that counts down from 30 then moves on to the next page. It also has a click count element (invisible to the respondent). Some (not all) report that they could not see the slider to the question. They could see the question text AND apparently could see what they thought were answers with no answer bubbles - which makes me think they saw the slider ticks but no actual slider. They also report the page flickering and generally being pretty "jumpy". I'm in a bit of pickle since previewing the question on multiple browsers all seem to work completely fine on my end so it's very hard to troubleshoot. Does anyone know where I should start looking to figure out what's causing this issue for people?Could this be an internet issue, browser version issue, or something more complex with the interaction of the timer/click count with the slider question (some

Reduce white space around an image

Hello:I am trying to reduce the white space around an image that I had embedded in my survey question, mainly to increase image size for those answer on smartphones.I did see there is a border option that one can use by right clicking on the image, but it already seems to be set at the minimum. Is there a way to reduce the white space on sides of an embedded image?Thank you!

Text Essay box won't allow space bar

I have several text (essay) boxes at the end of my survey. Qualtrics won't allow a space bar as entry. The boxes work normally during preview, but in production when people type their response the space bar isn't allowed and the words must all run together.What gives? Any advice?

Modify how matrix table looks

I have two questions regarding how the matrix table looks….The first one is regarding Matrix questions with profile format. My current questionnaire (with green background) is showing the scales as giant buttons… which I don’t prefer. When I used this format before, I recalled it was a small circle (see the question with the library background). How can I change the look of the profile matrix table to the latter appearance?The second one is regarding how these matrix tables look in the mobile view. Currently, if I use the mobile-friendly function, all the questions will be piled up and dropped down as the participants go through them (image with green background). If I don’t use the mobile-friendly function, the matrix table is too large to fit in and the participants will need to scroll to get to the scale. Is it possible to make the matrix fit within the mobile display (see the image with the library background).I am suspecting these differences may be related to the theme of the sur

Performance of Saved Blocks has changed to be a cause of lots of rework. How would you solve this?

Previously, when we did our conference in January 2022, we would import a block of questions for each session that we were doing and group those under a single block. Each time you imported the questions, they appeared on the same block that you were selecting to import to, and so we could do all the sessions for one program on one block, and the next program on the next block, and so on.With the changing of the performance of saved blocks of questions, now what happens is that you import the block of questions and it becomes a brand new block, not the block that you selected the questions to appear in. So for a program that has say, seven sessions, it now creates seven separate blocks of questions that all need to be moved into one block, and the six other blocks have to be deleted. Multiple that by ten programs a day with six to seven sessions in them, and we have literally hundreds of blocks that are created and need to be deleted and a ton of extra moving around which we're calcul

Distribution link won't update with new edits from a copied survey.

I just created a copy of a Qualtrics survey from last year and edited it to match this year's information. When I went to test the 'anonymous distribution link' in another window, it still shows last years survey. I'm stumped. I understand that the distribution link stayed the same as the previous survey since I made a copy, but how do I get my new edits to show display?

I created an email message to send (without a survey) using HTML provided by my team. The font appears accurately when I preview, but when I send a test email, the font is changing. I've included screenshots of how it should appear vs. how the font is changing once emailed. Wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before and has any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? Not certain if there is an issue with the html or if this is a Qualtrics issue.

Is there a way to shorten an image url?

I want to insert 200 images as multiple choices in a multi-answer question.But, it reminds me that the code exceeds the maximum 20,000 characters limit.the code looks like this: , and repeat it 200 times.My account name in each URL is too long, such as https://universityofblahblahblah.quatrics.com/...I wonder if there is a way to shorten the image URL so that I can insert more images in a single question.Thanks

Methods for starting a survey in-person and finishing it online.

Hello!My team and I are working on a survey where we are approaching people in-person and if they agree, we will start the survey with them to walk them through the initial steps (Mainly the consent process, and initial questions). Our team acknowledges that participants may need to leave before the entire survey is done and we were looking for ways of starting the survey in-person on a device owned by the study team, and then emailing/texting participants a link to finish it later, on their own device.What would be some ways of going about this? Are there specific settings in the distributions we could use to accomplish this?Any advice is appreciated.

Edit contact list after distribution

I have distributed a survey within my organization using email. I now want to edit the contact list I used because some recipients lefts the company and for some others the email addresses were incorrect. What happens when I edit the contact list now, after distribution? Is there a way I can only send invites/reminders to the new/corrected email addresses, without having to create an entire new mailing? Thanks for any help you can offer! :)

Constant sum matrix with "must total" validation equal to one of 2 possible values?

Hi there,I have several constant sum matrices on a page, but most of them are hidden unless the user reveals them. Not all of them will always be revealed. Right now, I have the validation set to the total must equal an embedded data field, but when some of the tables are not revealed, the user cannot advance in the survey because they still total zero. Is it possible to have the constant sum must total validation equal to EITHER the embedded data field OR zero (i.e., the table is left blank)? I'm wondering if there is some kind of OR operator I can put in the box for Must total (see below), like "${e://Field/hrs_awake}||0"? I tried using || for OR, but that didn't seem to work.Thank you very much!

Adding a click counter to a button in End of Survey message

Hi all, newcomer to Qualtrics here.Wondering if there is a way to set up a counter to keep track of respondents who have clicked a link button in the "end of survey" message? I have a custom EoS message set up, which contains a button which takes a user to a booking system. I would like to keep track of how many respondents are opting to use this feature. The only information I have been able to find it how to embed Javascript into a question - but I dont seem to have that option with an End of Survey block. I named the button ID as BookApp, and added an embedded data field to my survey called Click_BookApp...just not sure where to go from there!Any advice would be amazing!Thanks, Mike.

Refresh choice options of a single multi choice question

Hi, In a multi-choice question, I loaded 200 images using HTML code but set it to display 10 images randomly. Some participants may think 10 images are not enough, so I want to realize a function where participants can click something to refresh the initial 10 images and then randomly show another 10 images.I wonder is there a way to do this? Thanks for any insights and help.In addition, is there a way I can directly sample 10 images from my graphic library for the multi-choice question instead of sampling from the loaded 200 images in the question?

How can I hide the next button in a block until two multiple choice questions are answered?

An image and two multiple choice questions are shown on the screen. After 7 seconds the image disappears but subjects have an unlimited time to answer the two multiple choice questions. These questions are both forced choice, however, if you click on the next button the image is then re-shown and disappears again following 7 seconds. To prevent this issue, I would like to disable the next button until both multiple choice questions have been answered. New contact list failure since update

We are using Qualtrics to schedule exams for students with disabilities at our Uni and since 8/22/22, I have imported a new contact list from a CSV file that is generated by another database to Qualtrics and deleted the old contact list almost every day. It worked great until after the update last week now we get the attached error, it only imports about 170 of the 850 or so contacts successfully. Anyone else having contact list issues since the update or ideas on how to start troubleshooting?

How can you change the order of the axis items?

I have a bar chart with categories. The categories are size of employee and I want to move them so they are in the right order. For example, 10-49 employees, 50-99 employees, 100-149 employees.Currently my bar chart on my results page has them out of order. How can I move to put them in the correct order?I've tried putting my cursor over the label so that I might be able to move but that doesn't work.

How to calculate the drop out rate

I would have liked the possibility to calculate the dropout rate. For this I would need the last question but this is only available in the responses in progress.Is there any way to have this as embedded data on the recorded responses? https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/data/responses-in-progress/#ViewingResponsesInProgressThe goal is to see where the biggest drop out rate is in the surveys so that we can address and adjust it.

Video Slideshow Results Widget?

I noticed a new widget available in the new Results UI called "Video Slideshow" under Static Content, but I don't seem to have the ability to make it do anything since the only source option is "None". I also can't seem to find any documentation on the widget.Has anyone used the Video Slideshow widget or have any insight as to how it is supposed to function?
