Survey Platform

Good morning all! As some of you may have heard, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) relaxed its guidelines last year about demographic questions and that asking about ethnicity, race, and gender is no longer considered to be sensitive. OMB has also released guidance about asking questions about gender identity: SOGI-Best-Practices.pdf (whitehouse.gov)I would love to hear from other Qualtrics users in the public sector about whether you have applied this relatively new guidance on asking ethnicity, race, or gender demographic questions in your surveys. If you have, have you received adequate responses from customers to be able to segment effectively? Have you received negative feedback about these questions? Please let me know as this will help us with our approaches to gathering customer feedback this year. Thanks in advance!

Hi!I am building an experiment where the participant has to write a text. In between writing the text i want them to answer a couple of questions, after which i want them to continue writing in the same text they were writing in before. They have 4 times 5 minutes of writing before they are sent to the question portion. I also would like them to be able to see the text they have written here, without being able to edit it.My problem is that when i pipe the text they have written to a text field, the “enters” are deleted.I have used the method from this post to take my text from the first textinput to the second and third...etc. And this works perfectly! (tldr: i created an embedded datafield in the flow after the first text input page with as value the textinput, and used default choices to pipe the embedded data to the new input textbox)But when I pipe the embedded data to a text/graphic question using “ ${e://Field/sometext}” it deletes the enters.I have tried the method in this post

I have built the first survey for staff members to make an annual declaration, and from there some information is collected and saved in the contact list by the XM Directory function. Department Heads are sent with an anonymous link to enter a second survey. Each staff member is assigned with a 6-digit authentication key.   After clicking the anonymous link, Department Heads will first log in the company portal and then enter the 6-digit key. After the authentication, the information of a particular staff member (which is saved in the contact list) will appear in the second survey by pipped text function. His/her Dept Head will then review the information and consider to endorse the declaration or reject it. Because each Department Head will have to endorse several annual declarations, I have to make sure the pipped text function work well. Therefore I made the following setting at the recommendation I received in the Qualtrics Community: Check ‘Require respondents to authenticate agai

Hello,I'm conducting a study in which participants will watch a 17-minute video on a 24-inch screen using Qualtrics. I want to create JavaScript code for an uploaded video (from the library) that will address the following issues:The video should appear automatically (autoplay). The video will continue to play in a loop until the experimenter clicks on the next button. The video must fit the full screen of a 24-inch monitor. For issue 1 (and I believe also 2), I'm using this code: htmlCopy code<video autoplay loop=true style="pointer-events: none; width: 80%"> <source src="my video" type="video/mp4" /> Sorry, your browser doesn't support embedded videos. </video> I'm encountering a problem with issue 3. I tried changing the width to 100% or 1024, but it doesn't help. I'm not sure how to solve this problem. Is it related to the code itself or perhaps the browser I'm using (Chrome)? Maybe there is a better code solution I can use? Many Thanks :)

Hi All, This is a strange one...  I get an ‘Aw Snap’ error in Chrome when I am on a page which has had some JS code running to add in some pictures before and after some specific labels.  This code normally runs fine but on this occasion the error occurs specifically when I go into inspect (ie ctrl+shift+c) / the debug console window.  It doesn’t seem to happen any other time. This is the code that was causing the issueQualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){var sad_face_scr = 'https://warnerhotels.eu.qualtrics.com/CP/Graphic.php?IM=IM_8qBpza9jCsgHZ7D';//The backslash \ identifies that the code continues on a new line but be careful of spaces and apostrophes//The backslash must not have anything afterwards, not even a space!//There is a space here: append(' < so that the image doesn't touch the end of the choice answerjQuery("#" + this.questionId).find('li.first>span').append(' <img id="sad_face" src=' + sad_face_scr + ' \style="width: 31px; height: 30px; vertical-align:

I know this a simple question, but I cannot figure it out. I am trying to Carry Forward any statement from the previous question where the user selects one of four scale points ("Most Important"). I know that doing this for multiple scale points ("Most Important" and "Very Important") is complicated, but I think doing it for one is an included feature. I just cannot figure out how to say that I only want the ones to appear where the use picks "Most Important." I appreciate any help.

Hi there, I am trying to set up a survey where there are three questions in each field. I would like logic to display a result if the AVERAGE of those three questions is below 60 out of 100. Presently, the logic works to display the result if any one of the questions is answered (on a slider) below the 60 (out of 100), but I want it to average all three answers (so that even if two answers are quite high and one is low, they will still be prompted with the result). Thanks for the help! Betsy

Hello everyone, I was trying to distribute survey via email and came across this issue - see below picture. It seems that email was not delivered and there was an error. Can everyone help please? Thank you very much and best wishes,Jing

I have a question regarding the volumes on the distribution metrics of my NPS survey. What I measure is the NPS per product, however, for example; for product X, we sent 100 emails but in the XM count it tells us that the email metric sent by that product was 11 emails and so on with more products, which seems quite strange to us that it is not being registered and displayed correctly. And so on with more products, which seems quite strange to us.What consideration or what do you think might be going on in this case?

The customer support for Qualtrics is typically stellar. I apologize if this seems negative, but has anyone noticed that the quality of phone support for the survey platform has been quite bad in the last week? Before this week, whenever I called, support understood my problem on my first explanation and was able to fix it (or explain what I was doing wrong) promptly without seeking support to figure out how to fix it. I have had to make multiple calls this week and, with one exception, I did not feel like the person I was speaking with had a strong mastery of the qualtrics survey platform or even understood my problem. My issue remains unresolved and I am not sure what recourse I even have at this point. Anyone finding a similar decline in quality of support this week? Any ideas what to do?

Hello, I run a survey in which I had two question blocks, identical apart from a single question, which was framed differently in the two blocks. Respondents only saw one of the blocks, with even randomisation. In creating it I duplicated one block, then amended the one question that had to be different. Is it possible to export the dataset as an excel file where answers to the same question are in the same column, irrespective of the block?thanks!

Hi All, I am new to Qualtrics. I am trying to implement random block randomization - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3136079/#:~:text=participants%20among%20groups.-,Block%20randomization,size%20across%20groups%20over%20time. in Qualtrics survey site. For example, Block of 4 for the first 4 respondents, then block of 5 for the next 5 respondents.and so on. Is it possible to tie a subject to a specific treatment A or B in qualtrics survey ?  Thank you

Hi, I exported my results and all the ‘Progress’ = 100 and ‘Finished’ = TRUE, although some of the responses were incomplete (e.g. stopped halfway). Is there any way to sort out the complete and incomplete responses? Thanks!

I have a CSAT question that I want to embed a field on based upon how the recipient scores the following CSAT style matrix table.Essentially what I am after is I want to rate/assign embedded data of “health score” as follows-”poor” if they selected ANY dissatisfied or very dissatisfied-”fair” if they selected ANY neutral, but did not mark dissatisfied or very dissatisfied-”good” if they DID NOT mark any neutral, dissatisfied, or very dissatisfiedI have set up the following branching survey flows to embed the data:However, I think that based on my current logic it could assign several health scores per respondent, I only want one based off their least satisfied response.

I want to ask a few questions at the beginning of the survey. The participants then have to judge whether differing imagery is real or fake and they get given the result for this judgement. I then want to ask some more questions. However, is it possible to show the respondents the imagery and then give them the result after they have finished the test? and then ask them more questions which are not scored. I know that qualtrics can give the result straight after the test and at the end of the survey. But can it give the result at the end of a section and then continue to ask more questions that are not scored? Many thanks

Hi all. I am new to statistics and qualtrics and I would like some help understand why I am getting an average of 18.52 in one my questions, whereas all the rest questions (26 in total) show averages of 4.21,3.96,3.50 etc. I have the same number of responses for all questions that is 25 so far.Can someone help me understand how qualitrics calcuate the average? Is there an error from my side or the platform? Also, is there a detailed video showing how to automatically calculate a T test in qualtrics? Thanks

Hi, I had a question on server logs. Is there paradata tracked on server logs, such as browser incompatibilities to identify such issues with browsers when a respondent has started a survey?

I recently published a survey without setting any quota. After receiving 5 responses, I added a quota count to be 5 once certain conditions are met. The previous 5 responses had all conditions met for quota increment. However, the quota count was 0 even after re-publishing the survey, and my friend could still access the survey although the condition set was to end the survey once the quota was met. Does qualtrics apply quotas to responses received after making the changes in quota by default? If not, why is this happening and how do I fix it? Thanks!

Hi To test the function of quota, I published another survey with 2 conditions for quota. Please refer to the images below:Initially, I set both quotas to be 1. Completed the survey myself twice and the quota target was met for both groups. However, after increasing the M Quota from 1 to 3 and republishing the survey, I get the message “This survey has reached its quota and responses are no longer being solicited.” How do I fix this (no longer see the above message; i.e. submit another response)?

I was just notified that https://qualtrics.com/CP/Report.php?SID={surveyId}&R={responseId} is being decommissioned after February 18, 2023. How can I view a response without having to fire off an event or email trigger? 😥

Good evening, I understand how to export survey translations and open them in Excel, however when I am opening the language code Qualtrics is also exporting the code like this ‘<span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>’. Is there a way to export without this?I have copied the survey and restored it to be just text but the coding is still there. :)

We will be administering curriculum-based assessments via Qualtrics to measure learning gains in high school students pre- instruction vs. post-instruction.  In the past, we have tried a number of strategies to get matching pre- post-data with a minimum of human-hours required to find missing or incorrectly entered matches.  We have not found a satisfactory way to force validated matching options.  We typically have to match anywhere from a few hundred, to about a thousand pre- and post- assessments.  As you can imagine, doing this manually is extremely time intensive.  Here are the things we have tried so far:we have assigned ID numbers to students that they needed to remember for their post test.  Results = not great - many forgotten numbers, numbers entered incorrectly, students entering made up numbers, etc. We have assigned ID numbers based on patterns (first two letters of the teacher’s last name, class period as a two-digit number, and school-based student ID number).  Results =

Hello,  Once the survey has been completed 250 times, I would like any subsequent people to be redirected to a URL.  I though I would select, prevent all new survey sessions, but ‘End current survey’ is the only option to redirect.  Is this correct?

Hi Everyone,Wanted to discuss regarding solution to one of my requirement. I have a thought but it does not seems to be efficient so checking with the community to find out a better option. In my survey, there are around 50 questions and among those 50 questions I want to flag few of the questions as 'Important'.Lets say there are 10 questions which need to be categorized as 'Important' and those questions are being asked in different blocks/sections of the project. Is there any parameter or feature available for each questions where we can add 'Important' keyword for every such question and can refer it during our analysis to identify 'Important' questions.Below is one of the work around which i was able to think about, but it does not seems to be efficient. We can name the questions in some kind of format with which we can identify that this is a question from 'Important' category, for example we can postfix question name with something like "_Imp".Thanks,Salim

Hello Qualtrics CommunityWe would like to adjust one of the automated responses giving by the system when the survey requests to users give an answer (see images):As far as I know, the automated message showed above appears when the survey requests to be answered but not forced (open question is not mandatory). Is there a way to change this wording?I have info about useful links to be used for that purpose about > how to create and load a new message:Survey options - Adding A Custom Error Message: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-options/survey-experience/#AddingACustomErrorMessage  Library - Message Library: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/account-library/message-library/#CreatingAMessageInALibrary My question with regards to the 'Automated messages' are:For the message I want to change, which is the 'automated response' I should select and change? How to find the correct one from the list to be translated. There is a long lis
