Basic API question

Hi All. I have a use case where I'd like to use an API to calculate something while a respondent takes a survey, so I can provide them a score before the end of the survey. I know how to use math functions within the survey, but this would be a case where it would be better to do the calculations out of survey (during the survey). Before I start digging through all the API materials, I thought it would be best to ask this question. Thanks!API

Integration with custom application

We are thinking of storing all the survey responses from qualtrics in custom application. We have data coming from various sources in this custom application and use this for preparing reports for management. The challenge that we are facing is to find a way for integrating survey results through API. Please let me know if there is any way to push the survey results to external application in real-time.

Hello! I currently have the custom code for background, but need additional help...

I would like the first page of my quiz to only have a 'start quiz' button at the bottom with no questions or additional text so that my background image can be seen. Additionally, for the rest of the pages, how can I change my background transparency so that the background image is still there but faint? TIA for any suggestions!

Randomizing order across participants, but keeping randomized order consistent within participants

Hi all, I am using Qualtrics to administer experimental stimuli to participants in a 2 x 2 within-subjects design. I have 8 different experimental stimuli, each of which have 4 variations (which correspond to the 2x2 design). I currently have javascript code set up which shuffles an array of experimental stimuli in a 4 (row) X 2 (column) matrix so that participants will randomly see 2 experimental stimuli from each condition in randomized order (totaling 8 stimuli [of varying conditions]). What I am having trouble with, however, is that I want to also randomize the order of the questions that follow the experimental stimuli (the same questions that will follow each stimulus). Is there a way to randomize the order of the post-stimulus questions such that it is always different between participants, but is consistent within participants (meaning that person A has the same order of post-experimental stimuli questions for all 8 stimuli, but person B has a different order, but that order

How to prioritize question statements off of embedded data?

I need a way for question statements to flex based on the order I enter them into the embedded data. We have a question that asks to rate presenters. For our events, 10 out of the 30 presenters actually presented that day. Then the next day it might be a different 10 people. to add complexity there could be 2 or more events going on at the same time. I have created embedded data to pull in the name of the presenter that someone will enter before sending out the link. Example. Presenter = BillyJohnSallyJim. Using "contains" logic the questions correlated to these people populate. However they populate in the order in which they were programmed/built. I need the questions to populate based on the order I entered them in the embedded data to align with the order they presented in to make the best customer experience. I can't break the presenters out into individual question since I need a graph of the presenters overall sore in reporting and mapping 30+ presenters across 10 topics wou

Carry over answers participants filled

Hi! I have a few very similar questions that participants have to answer, and I am wondering if I could carry over their selected options in the matrix table and side by side table to the other similar question. I am not talking about the carry forward of statements or scale points, but the answers that they have selected in the radio buttons. Hope there is a way for this!

Salesforce and task objects

I am trying to trigger a survey from a task object. When I test the workflow starting at the customer account, create the task object and then complete the workflow, the survey is triggered. The normal process, however, does not involve starting from the customer account. In the normal process, the task object is created automatically. When the workflow is completed under these circumstances, nothing happens. I don't even get a debug email saying the survey was not sent. I was told in Salesforce, the debug information looks just like the first process that did send the survey. One other piece of information that may be useful. Task objects do not contain the customer's email address, so a formula was used to place the email address in the task. Any ideas what could be causing this or what we should check?

More details needed to generate random number with no repeats. Any solution yet?

Hi all - Thanks for reading! I know this question has been asked several times already (e.g., https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/85/i-want-to-randomly-assign-a-4-digit-id-to-every-respondent-with-no-repeats), but thought I'd check in again about this to see if someone could provide a more specific answer, since this _has_ to be a need that many people have. I want to assign a random 6-digit number as a respondent enters a survey, but it's _essential_ that there be no repeats. I know Qualtrics' random number generator can do this, but can't guarantee it won't repeat. So, several others have suggested setting up a web service or library to do this. But can anyone provide more details about exactly how to do this? There has to be a solution out there, and I think it'd be really helpful to a lot of people to post it here.

Use keyboard arrows to scroll through multiple choice question responses

Hello, I'm very new to using Javascript so would really appreciate any kind of advice I can get on this. I have developed a survey in Qualtrics containing multiple response questions (each question contains 4 possible answers). I'd like to add Javascript so that users of the survey can switch between the response option which is highlighted using the up and down keyboard arrow keys. I'd also like users to be able to hit the enter key to travel to the next page, and the delete key to travel to the last page. Is it possible to code this using javascript? I'd be really grateful for any suggestions on how I could do this :) Many thanks.

Change inline question font in distribution e-mail

Hey guys. I'm trying to send a distribution e-mail that already includes the first question (an NPS question) inline. For some reason, when sent to business mailboxes, the table with the question changes the labels and numbers to times new roman, while mainting the title in Arial. Do I need to add some code for the headers and the options? Does Qualtrics support integrating with APIs via the implicit grant flow of Oauth 2.0?

Has anyone had any success with using Qualtrics to call secure APIs without API keys or is there a way to hide API keys from form editors? We are attempting to integrate Qualtrics with our custom Student Information System restful API using the implicit grant flow of Oauth 2.0. We aren't comfortable adding secret keys to Qualtrics forms our editors would be able to see and potentially abuse (accidentally removing authentication, ect). We could build a custom javascript function that sends the client to our Authorization server to get an access token onLoad, that is then used to set an embedded field that is sent to the (API) Resource server as a bearer header. This custom javascript function would be very volatile to Qualtrics updates. - Another option may be to use our existing federation (SAML) to generate access_tokens.

How to create auto-advance for a page that has a Youtube video?

I am trying to create a block which has 2 questions: 1. Youtube Video 2. Question How do I set the video page to auto-advance to the question page when the video is done playing? I understand that I can create a timer to the video question so it'll switch after the allocated seconds. However, I'm concerned that the video will take awhile to load and the participants might not have sufficient time to finish watching the video before the page switches. Would appreciate if someone has an alternative solution for this. In addition, does anyone have any other suggestions to automatically start a Youtube video? I've tried adding "?autoplay=1" to the end of the URL, as proposed by this thread. However, the video fails to auto-play when the survey is activated. It seems to only work in the draft mode.

Create a question with n open text boxes as answers

Hey guys! I want to have a question where there are five possible answer boxes, but that are just five open text boxes. The closest I get is the form option for the text entry where I can do that, but then the text boxes are aligned to the right because there is a pre-defined space to the left for the "names" for each text box. I placed a "space" as the name for each text box, but still have a large chunk of space (as seen below). ! Is there any simple way to take this out?

How to count # of items dragged & dropped into a box

Hi. I have a question where there are 10 choices and they can be dragged or dropped into one of two boxes, or not. I need to be able to count how many are in one of the boxes because that number will be used later in the survey in a calculation. I can't seem to come up with an easy way to do it. Any help on this appreciated!
